How many more showers you take now that you exercise!!
I always try to plan it right and shower just once but it never quite works out that way lol25 -
To stay Active, I say alot of "Yes Honey, I'll do that... you get some rest", "Oh you need me to go up to the 9th floor, sure doc. I'll take the stairs, the elevator is slow.", "Yeah honey, you take the car. I'll walk. I don't mind." In need the steps (fitbit). &24

This in sobmany ways!! Started running recently and winded is delayed much longer than the last time I spent time running. Strength also is better and though my knees hurt some, running alternate days allows for recovery. At 52 years old these two accomplishments seemed impossible. Never say never!!12 -

Nobody tells you your stomach might get used to smaller portions before your mind does.
I still serve my plate heaped full because I think: "there's no way I'll be satisfied with less than that". But inevitably I only get about halfway through before I start feeling full.
I want to start serving myself less so I don't waste the food (or worse, keep eating) but my eyes are so much harder to train than my stomach!!!30 -
In late April, I went shopping for a bunch of new spring/summer clothes cause I’d already lost 25 lbs and knew that my summer stuff just wasn’t going to fit and my job requires that I look put together.
It’s now mid-July and I’ve lost another 20lbs. Most of that stuff already doesn’t fit or is starting to look sloppy. I think I’m going to have to go shopping again very soon.
I still have another 30-35 lbs to go – This is one expensive adventure!
I cannot stress stores like Goodwill enough. . I've gone through 3 complete wardrobes in 92 pounds.
Yes, this. It's fun to re-donate the clothes a month later. And then get new ones.5 -
You don't realize how exciting and rewarding it can be.
I lost 90lbs and during that process each morning i would spring out of bed just to weigh myself because i knew i would be fractions of a pound lighter. It's such a good feeling hitting goals, seeing new veins show, suddenly being able to wear a size 31" waist pants, suddenly seeing your abs start to poke out a little bit, finding out your moobs are slowly becoming pecs, going from being uncomfortable with your body to being known as that fit guy, gaining athletic ability, having people be astonished you were ever fat....there are so many things you get to celebrate along the way.
it's such a rewarding process and nothing else is like it.50 -
I have a LOT of loose skin on my belly. I am down ~40 lbs and have another 80 lbs to go and my stomach already looks awful. I'm not sure how much is from regular weight gain/loss and how much is from having my babies, though. I lost more than this before my first pregnancy and my skin wasn't bad. Then again, I was
5 years younger.
Meh, I don't really care. I'm worth it .22 -

I use a smaller plate instead of a full-size dinner plate. My smaller portions appear to be more than they really are, so my eyes are as satisfied as my stomach. As I lose weight, I've bought a few new pretty plates in different designs as "rewards", and I look forward to choosing which one I will use for my meal.35 -

You realize how important your mindset is and that it can hold many of us back. Being healthy is all about progress and with a positive mind you are more willing to try new things. For example, when I was in highschool I was very self conscious about dancing or moving my body. I started taking belly dance and zumba and have found a new control over myself. Bellydance especially helped me be aware of my own body and muscles. The younger me hid in very large clothing and felt very stupid trying to dance. Now I am not as hard on myself and will still look stupid at first, but at least I am trying. Everyone has to start somewhere. I still have much farther to go but I am very happy that I do not let inner fear hold me back anymore from trying new and fun things.44

Its amazing! I am so happy that you and so many have taken control of your health so early on. I was at my heaviest my senior year in highschool and never want to go back to the way I ate or felt.12 -
What nobody told me is that there comes a point that everything just comes together and it’s *almost* easy to continue to lose weight.
For instance, this weekend, I was out of town visiting family. I passed up some treats without too much trouble while still having a few of my favourites. The scale says I’m up a pound for the weekend, but that’s totally okay. Today, I’m back to my new normal way of eating and exercising and that pound will be gone in no time.
Six months in and 45 lbs down and I have no desire to go back to my old normal…

For instance, this weekend, I was out of town visiting family. I passed up some treats without too much trouble while still having a few of my favourites. The scale says I’m up a pound for the weekend, but that’s totally okay. Today, I’m back to my new normal way of eating and exercising and that pound will be gone in no time.
Six months in and 45 lbs down and I have no desire to go back to my old normal…
That is awesomme!!!!! I love that you are totally ok with the pound! I'm down 34.something pounds almost 3 months in and a few things now feel like new normal but not at that place yet.
One thing I've found is my leisure activities changed. Now I want to do something fun and active where before I was looking for things like going to eat and watching movies

Yes and no. Blatant rip-off of the term(for my use) from Kramer yes, but I am from Portland Oregon and that term gets thrown around a lot.8 -

Definitely this!! I can't sit still as long and my idea of relaxing and enjoying a day off is going for a walk, swimming, cooking in the kitchen, just doing ANYTHING that involves moving and not being still. Watching TV is now... dare I say it... boring.
On a similar note, I had no idea that I would feel so much more energetic. I didn't know that I felt sluggish before I lost the 60lbs!

I'm at 42 pounds down I have just started feeling the ease of it. I also have gotten used to some fluctuations and don't stress them anymore since I know I'm on the right track.

I've actually started watching TV shows when I'm on my stationary bike..
a 40 minute show ends up being a 10+ mile bike ride so I still get to enjoy my favorite programs but don't end up feeling bored or lazy..

That after loosing 68lbs of 96lbs, I'm still waiting to have "all that energy" I keep hearing about... I have my moments, don't get me wrong, I would just like to have them with better frequency. I think the weight lifting will help though.13
