What nobody tells you about losing weight

In late April, I went shopping for a bunch of new spring/summer clothes cause I’d already lost 25 lbs and knew that my summer stuff just wasn’t going to fit and my job requires that I look put together.
It’s now mid-July and I’ve lost another 20lbs. Most of that stuff already doesn’t fit or is starting to look sloppy. I think I’m going to have to go shopping again very soon.
I still have another 30-35 lbs to go – This is one expensive adventure!
I cannot stress stores like Goodwill enough. . I've gone through 3 complete wardrobes in 92 pounds.
Amen! Thrift stores ARE your friend. I go each week, only buying clothes in the next size or two down. I'm on my 10th size down, I can't imagine how much money I'd have thrown away already if I were buying new. YIKES!13 -

Thanks for the suggestion! Hadn't really given it much thought, but an idea worth check out!0 -
I began my journey 55 days ago and I although haven't reached my goals, I did quit drinking sodas 4 years ago. I no longer crave sodas and they are no longer an option at anytime. When I see the way people are with sodas, I now feel proud of myself for not needing them. I know this will help me with my 100 pound journey.14

4. My backyard walks cut down on the need to mow but I have to make new paths each week.
4a. Yeah I need to find a more exciting routine than walking/jogging up and down the yard.
That's funny. I always think my neighbors probably think I'm nuts. I'm always pacing back and forth and around. Days, nights, hot, raining it doesn't matter6 -
I agree with the other posters about thrift stores. NSV every 4 weeks when I re-donate the clothes from the last shopping trip and buy new ones. So fun! A new wardrobe every month...8

Its nice not feeling like your on the road of becoming a heart patient anymore. In other words, your leaving the road of health problems slowly behind.
As an aside•
The relationship to the scale...

Its not official till you name the scale... I call mine "Pendejo" which is Spanish for stupid... and something else16 -
I become increasingly incensed when some people tell me " don't too skinny now!" Who are they to know what my right weight is ? Such insolence!9

That I'd spend time watching muscles move or staring at the backs of my hands, weird I know, but I do.13

I found 5 pairs of designer denim jeans at Goodwill!! Grand total $24 bucks!!!15 -
That if you use the same effort to move around as when you were heavier as you do now, it feels like you are trying to throw yourself down the stairs.12

How many more showers you take now that you exercise!!
I always try to plan it right and shower just once but it never quite works out that way lol25 -
To stay Active, I say alot of "Yes Honey, I'll do that... you get some rest", "Oh you need me to go up to the 9th floor, sure doc. I'll take the stairs, the elevator is slow.", "Yeah honey, you take the car. I'll walk. I don't mind." In need the steps (fitbit). &24

This in sobmany ways!! Started running recently and winded is delayed much longer than the last time I spent time running. Strength also is better and though my knees hurt some, running alternate days allows for recovery. At 52 years old these two accomplishments seemed impossible. Never say never!!12 -

Nobody tells you your stomach might get used to smaller portions before your mind does.
I still serve my plate heaped full because I think: "there's no way I'll be satisfied with less than that". But inevitably I only get about halfway through before I start feeling full.
I want to start serving myself less so I don't waste the food (or worse, keep eating) but my eyes are so much harder to train than my stomach!!!30 -

Yes, this. It's fun to re-donate the clothes a month later. And then get new ones.5 -
You don't realize how exciting and rewarding it can be.
I lost 90lbs and during that process each morning i would spring out of bed just to weigh myself because i knew i would be fractions of a pound lighter. It's such a good feeling hitting goals, seeing new veins show, suddenly being able to wear a size 31" waist pants, suddenly seeing your abs start to poke out a little bit, finding out your moobs are slowly becoming pecs, going from being uncomfortable with your body to being known as that fit guy, gaining athletic ability, having people be astonished you were ever fat....there are so many things you get to celebrate along the way.
it's such a rewarding process and nothing else is like it.50 -
I have a LOT of loose skin on my belly. I am down ~40 lbs and have another 80 lbs to go and my stomach already looks awful. I'm not sure how much is from regular weight gain/loss and how much is from having my babies, though. I lost more than this before my first pregnancy and my skin wasn't bad. Then again, I was
5 years younger.
Meh, I don't really care. I'm worth it .22 -

I use a smaller plate instead of a full-size dinner plate. My smaller portions appear to be more than they really are, so my eyes are as satisfied as my stomach. As I lose weight, I've bought a few new pretty plates in different designs as "rewards", and I look forward to choosing which one I will use for my meal.35 -
How freaking awesome it feels to tell my hipster doofus of resident doctor that yeah that's right I lost 87lbs(and counting) without the bariatric surgery you said I should get.119
