Clothes shopping. I used to hate it and I used to hate going with my wife. I used to just go and sit at a coffee shop for 2 hours while she goes off and does her thing.
Yesterday I did the impossible though. I outshopped my wife lol We went to 5 or 6 different stores and I tried on LOADS of clothes. Why? Because I could. They fit lol Jackets, shirts, everything. Weird cause I was just looking for gloves. Eventually my wife gave up and said "Carry on I'll wait here for you". I didn't buy anything cause I couldn't find the gloves I wanted lol13 -
That your super comfortable chair might end up feeling way too big and like you're attempting to sit on a bag of rocks.1

How you just can't sit there anymore because you have so much energy and just have to get up and move around or something..3

Love this whole thread. Thank you, makes me realise how I could be feeling !!6 -
It is getting warm and muggy where I live and I have been having hot flashes. Not a good combination. I will start feeling hot, or be hot for awhile and have to ask someone else, is it hot in here, or is it just me. Do we need to turn on the AC or what. I seriously can't figure out if it's me or is it really too hot. I feel like I'm sweating too much. Wish I was cold like everyone else. I'm a quilter, I have a ton of quilts and could just cover up.
I just hope all the heat doesn't slow down my exercising. I have been doing really good with it.5 -
That at almost 50lbs down, I wouldn't see a change in my body...I still fit into my same clothes.....14

I get told I look great and done well
(Positive of course) but I also look in the mirror a lot and it's troubling I know what I want and can be but that not me and pushes me harder1 -

I have the same issue. I can still wear most of my large sizes but, when I went to try on clothes for a couple of weddings this summer, I can fit into much smaller sizes.
I think we're liking the looser fit of our old stuff. NSVs to be sure! However, smaller sizes can be comfy and we don't have to hitch 'em up throughout the day!

I lost 40 lbs 13 yrs ago and have never looked back. I now belong to a Masters Crossfit class, I'm 69, and love it. Being fitter and healthier than ever is a wonderful feeling. My vanity and confidence has gone through the roof.:) Been married for 36 yrs to an awesome man who thinks I'm just the greatest doesn't hurt either.
There have been a few unexpected changes due to the weight lose; the vanity and confidence are part of it...having men actually stare at me is interesting, having a couple of my friends (all married) treat me differently...I think they fear I may steal their man. Whatever. Also, making positive changes in my life has effected theirs and this makes them uneasy. Too sad for them really.
I had a tummy tuck a few yrs back because the loose skin was hiding my taunt abs...couldn't have that!
Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.9 -
The biggest thing for me was that a lot of my expenditure on new clothes ended up being WARM clothes! When I weighed 15 lbs more (I'm really short) I was always too hot. Now I am always too cold and wear fleeces and vests and fleece leggings constantly from September to May.
How I have to constantly readjust my knees when lying on my side. Ow.
That I would actually develop a waist on the front of my body instead of having a waist only on my back and sides, and the opposite on my belly. . . so glad that belly is going/gone!
Boy I hear ya sister. I'm cold more often than not also, after loosing 40 lbs. This has been hard to get used to...the being cold.0 -

While it's flattering to get compliments, I've found the more weight I've lost, the more embarrassing it's been to reveal how much I've lost in total. When I had lost 40-50 lbs, I proudly stated that number whenever asked. Now, I've lost over 90 lbs and if someone asks, I just say something like "I've lost a little" and try to deflect from giving a precise answer.
I've had to learn to graciously accept as truth when I'm complimented instead of doubting. My initial reaction to compliments is to argue or disbelieve the sincerity of what is said. Not good, just go with it. I've chosen to believe
I'm being told the truth about how I look...now!

+ That it can be an emotional roller-coaster. Some days you are happy with yourself and other days you get upset because you ate too much or you don't look right or you haven't lost any weight this week, etc. Learn to ride the roller-coaster and don't get off.
^^ I have recently realised that some weeks are worse than others, that having a bad day does not mean my diet is "over", I tend to have more cravings for chocolate and stuff around the time I'm due but this doesn't mean my diet is over or I am failing. It is a rollercoaster, each week will differ, and the best thing to do is just keep sticking with it every day.5 -
BruceHedtke wrote: »brightresolve wrote: »How much it annoys me when someone says, "oh, you don't have to watch what you eat!" or, "oh, you don't have to work out!"
I feel like they're disrespecting the discipline and hard work it takes to be healthy ...
For me, I found that I did a complete 180°. I used to be jealous of people that were thin and healthy and fit. No more. I've learned that you don't get many days off being healthy unless you're one of those rare breeds that can eat and eat and eat and not gain an ounce. For the rest of us, it's a daily grind and those people that I was jealous of...they put in the work, daily, to be what they are.
Now I'm more jealous of those who are overweight because they can also eat whatever they want, whenever they want and not think about fitting it into their calories. I have no desire to be like that again, but sometimes I am jealous.

Not so serious:
- Waking up in the morning and feeling my hip bones. I've never felt them before. I didn't realize how high up into my abdomen they go!
- Looking forward to my workouts (and feeling miserable if I miss them)
- Realizing that I can actually eat cake and ice cream, as long as I fit them into my calories. I went years without eating them or feeling guilty when I did. I don't feel guilty about food any more.
- Being able to breathe easier. I don't get winded walking anymore. I actually like to park on the other side of the parking lot. I don't have to hold my breath when I tie my shoes.
- Sleeping better. I think I used to have a touch of sleep apnea (I would snore really bad and was always tired no matter how long I slept). I just feel better rested and actually wake up earlier without being so cranky.
- Putting on a pair of pants that I bought two weeks ago and having them be a little loose. It's kind of annoying, but feels good too.
- Realizing that my brain doesn't keep up with my weight loss. If I have big clothes in the house, I will wear them. I have to donate them in order for me to not wear them. I have a box of clothes in smaller sizes that were handed down to me. I have to force myself to try them on once a month, or I will never think that they will fit me (even though I see the previous bullet point happen).
I always knew something was missing in my life, but didn't realize until I lost weight that the missing part was ME!!4 -

I've lost around 50lbs so far and apart from my mother and a childhood friend, no one tells me anything, unless I mention it. Don't get me wrong I'm really happy that those two noticed. I wanted to jump in the air, but I thought I could get motivation and support from more people. I wonder why they are staying so silent, I mean 50lbs is noticeable, right? It would really help me, since I am not done yet.
The new problem I've encountered is with my underwear. They keep slipping and the leg holes are way too big lol. I need a new set lol
I've thought the same regarding people noticing my weight loss(besides close family). But somebody posted a good reason for that. Weight is a touchy thing and many may not want to embarrass us. Lol, with that said I know that I want people today ,"you've lost weight", and I'm only down 25lbs. Oh well, you know how hard you've worked for this. You rock!!0 -
- Developing a sort of inner confidence to try new things (often unrelated to weight loss) or be braver than you were before
- that people think its ok to be nasty about the old you - things that they would never have said then
- again with feeling the cold more
- that getting "addicted" to exercise could happen to me!!7 -

hahaha i just started on a 1200-1600 diet, and yes it seems you dont stop eating, Im never hungry!!!2 -
When people walk past me in a smaller space I squish against the wall, even though there is lots of room for them to get by. I forget that I'm not as big! 40lbs down, 90 to go.6

KrunchyMama wrote: »That once you're ACTUALLY ready, it seems so much easier than any other time attempted before
Exactly this! I don't even know how else to explain it, it was just a moment, a regular thursday March 5th 2015 when I just... was ready. And I haven't looked back since and I have never ever before been this sure and confident about my ability to actually do it.
When it shifts from "I wish... I should... I'll try..." to "I am doing this.". And you just do it. No matter how long it takes.
Yes. I've "been trying to lose weight" since I was a teenager, even younger than that, actually. But on January 28th, 2015, after putting the scale away for months because I felt it knew how to ruin the feeling after a good workout(before I changed my diet), I decided to pull it out and see what it said. Well it said 20 lbs. more than what I was expecting, and I was expecting my normal over-weight weight. It didn't have an emotional impact on me, it did not make me feel bad, it made me go "Huh. Tomorrow I'm going to change that". For the first time in my life, something changed, something clicked, and I knew to just fix it. Well 43 lbs. later, I'm 7 lbs. from my goal weight. And I'm so glad I started when I did!11 -
