Thighs Hips and Butt...LADIES lifting heavy

So I have all the above....and plenty of it. Not saying Im a big girl just saying Im well off in those areas. Honestly Im writing this post because I LOVE MY CURVES. I love having thick thighs, a big butt, and wide curvy hips. It goes well with my petite waist. So my concern is...though my body is well proportioned, after bouncing weight and recently losing 20 lbs I desperately need to set my curves in place, firm up, lift the low spots, and vainly add some cuts and definition:). I want to heavy lift and then transition to just using body weight lifting to maintain once I reach my mirror-comfort zone. My concern here is losing my POW WOW once I start tightening up. Yes I know my bodys shape will take its form regardless. If Im an hourglass/pear I will always be an hour glass/pear...just at different weights. But I want to keep my UMMPH if you know what I mean. I dont want to lose my extra BAM. So those of you who have these plump areas and lifted heavy to shape up could you shed some light on how it took away or added to your figure? Also...PLEASE give before and after pics if you can.

here some pictures on my profile to better explain "POW WOW" and "UMMPH". These ladies are firm tight and lifted (no cuts but you get the picture) yet they still are dangerously curvy... here's a fav (and no its not me):

Have you read into Brett Contreras' Strong Curves? It's heavy lifting and accessories with woman who want booty and thighs in mind.0

I'm with you there. I want to keep my curves while losing weight.0

I understand where you are coming from. Lifting heavy, brisk walking daily (2 - 5 miles) and a balanced diet (no macros too high or too low and make room for treats) actually made me more curvy.
My waist got more defined, I have a nice "V" shape in my back, still kept my thick thighs (they are just solid now and not wobbly), my butt is still there (again, more solid and sits up higher).
I think the key for what you are looking is to have a good mixture of some body fat and some muscles. Hit those squats, lunges and deadlifts. There are different programs out there, but I have done Chalene Extreme (3 times), Slow and Heavy (by Cathe F.) and I'm finishing up Body Beast and might do another round.
I should add you might want to give the scale a break and focus on your measurements and progress in photos. There were plenty of times where the scale did not move, but I lost inches and knew I was heading in the right direction.
Good luck!0 -
I wouldn't worry about it. Just lift weights and don't get too lean and your body will be as close to that as possible. Sounds like "Strong Curves" would be a good program for you, or even just the basic Stronglifts 5x5.
However, I'm not sure those photos are real. Photoshop?0 -
Squats are amazing for a rounded and curvy butt! As long as you don't undereat you shouldn't lose them lifting...you'll only make them firmer.0

The real Teairra Mari:
The first pic looks like injections or photoshop.

First step, start lifting now, meet your protein goals, save muscle. After you lose the fat, you can decide if you're happy or if you want to bulk and cut...or recomp.
By the way, losing X amount of pounds doesn't always mean you'll end up just being a smaller version of yourself. I have lost 30 pounds. When I started I was a pretty extreme pear with a 29 inch waist and 44 inch hips. Now I have a 27 inch waist and 38 inch hips...my body shape changed quite a bit. You never know though! Fat will come off where ever it wants.0 -
you guys are awesome. And thanks so much for the reality check on the photos. I will definately start lifting heavy now. I bought the book The New Rules of Lifting..blah blah blah. That title is way too long. Anyways. Ill post some before pics soon. Thanks guys. Keep the comments coming0

buying strong curves after work:)!0

Since there's no photoshop in real life, I don't think there's much you can do. Your body is gonna do what it's gonna do. Maybe google will come up with some on-the-fly photo shop tools soon so everyone can look the way we want them to. Until then.... sorry.0

Look up Michelle Lewin and Christina Vargas. Those women heavy lift and they got the curves! They are my fitness inspirations for sure! I don't think you need to worry about losing "BAM" as proven by these ladies!0

my waist is a 25 and hips a 41. i dont want to lose the depth in my ratio. does that mean others are dis-proportioned? i dont know...dont really care. Im talking about me lol! Im concerned about losing my curves thats all Im saying. and though the ladies suggested look good...none have big hips. Thats disappointing. its like you cant keep your big hips and be cut and firm. perhaps my erception is screwed?...I dont know. But as was said before, my body will do what it wants. Ill be happy with being healthy. going to that community now@blb85:)0

My main beef is that they took a woman that appears to be a healthy weight and made her lower half larger. Like, twice as big as it really is. So, for her, it is disproportionate.
I'd have the same response if they had taken her image and made her thighs impossibly small as well.0 -

Thank you for posting this, the first pic looked fake!
OP, barbell hip thrusts and glute bridges are the best for lifting the butt.0 -
Don't worry about it. Lifting will give you firm curves as long as you're eating and training for your goal. I thought I was stuck in my ruler shaped body, but training and eating properly together we're able to give me some curves.0

This has to be an older photo. Teairra Mari does not look near that lately.0 -

Nailed it.
It's just ABSURDLY bad.
She has a beautiful natural looking figure- and now it looks outlandish. Again- makes me angry.0 -

She actually does have curves. She also put on a little weight from that above photo.
