@Elise4270 - Nice run! Hope you're feeling better.
@shanaber - I did feel like a bad-*kitten* for running in the rain today...even though it was very light.
I honestly love running in the rain- there is something very cathartic about it- and yes- it's totally a level up bad-a$$ery!!! Good job you!
@skippygirlsmom - I wish I could convince Hobbes to go in the pool. I know he would love it but he won't go in. As a puppy he would go on the step and play but now he won't even do that. Most Vizslas love the water and I get the one that doesn't
@SonicDeathMonkey80 - hope the half went well! I find it so odd that you have races on Fridays and Saturdays when it seems like ours are almost exclusively on Sundays.
@isulo_kura - love your new profile picture of Myka! Also the cows are awesome and scary!
Easy 5 mile run today. It was supposed to rain but was just cloudy and cool. I am loving the weather in So California right now although we could still really use some rain.

Last run it was geese. This time, TOURISTS; flippin all over the place with their selfie sticks and their road-ignorance (evidenced by their refusal to look ahead or share the road/street/sidewalk.

@Elise4270 - Thanks for the thoughts about my knees. They are less swollen tonight and I'm hoping to run tomorrow am.
@mwyvr - I appreciate your tip for stretching too. I've been a lot of stretching to prevent plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinitis. Now, I'm going to check out IBS specific stretches now too, thank you Sir.
@shanaber- love this!
@SonicDeathMonkey80 - Have a great run tomorrow!0 -

@JimCrackinDandy I have biomechanical issues and battle a bit of patellofemoral pain. I never have swelling though. Hope you have a great run tomorrow.
@karllundy thanks. After talking with @shanaber I realized that I have IBS med for a reason, I should take it. I really dislike taking meds.. But like running enough I'll take them0 -

@shaneabner I'd rather run in the rain than in the heat any day. Good thing too, here in the Pacific Northwest we get a lot of rain. Avoiding rain would really cut down the training volume during for 1/2 of the year.
@JimCrackinDandy good luck with your pain, your inquisitiveness makes it clear you'll get to the bottom of it.
@rajnigandha21 Congrats on the 5km, great job, keep it up!
@RunTimer Tourists are definitely worse than geese!0 -
-
@7lenny7 - beautiful sunset!
@RunTimer - Fisherman's Wharf? I would not want to run through the tourists there. Will be running there in about a month though (no selfie stick I promise)!
@mwyvr - my daughter lives in Seattle. I run in the rain there when I am visiting and she runs in it a lot more than me!0 -
Just found the thread... Awesome, put me down for 201 miles.... Yes, I am kidding....realistically 60... Ran 2 5k runs last month, only one for me this month is June 20. Would like to go under 30 min. But I only scheduled it for "fun" ... Who knows why I define things this way but my "real" 5k that I am training for is on July 4th. My goal is under 30 min. with my weight under 200 lbs at that race0

@mwyvr -I did a series of stretches specifically for IBS this am. Thought to split today between walking and running. Felt pretty good & completed 5miles (more running than walking! PTL) Thank you again
@Elise4270 - I'm sorry to hear that you suffer with these. You certainly push through nicely! Continue to do what you're doing and run safely. It's working, 5.34miles yesterday and feeling better! That swim midweek was a good idea.

My first real 5k went great. Started at the back of the pack and got to pass people which was nice. I stayed relaxed and listened to my body with no split goals or set pace and it was great. My chip time was a PR 40:52 but had an unplanned walk at the end when they let traffic go and we had to wait a second. I covered with a sprint to the finish and felt great. No cramps and no dizziness. I felt like I had another half mile in me LOL. Can't wait for the next one! Something about hearing your name announced as you cross the finish line is addictive.

Did 3.7 miles today. Weather was horrendous, absolutely chucking it down but I persevered and managed a personal record for the first 2 miles of 19.03 minutes. Slowed massively after this but that is because I hit a big hill!
Anyway total so far is 27.3 miles0 -

Good to hear you enjoyed your first 5k race, shame to had to stop for the cars though.caratayloruk wrote: »caratayloruk wrote: »5 miles today bringing my total to 23.6. Another 52.4 to go.

@kimlight2 congrats on the 5k!!
@missmelis98, good running on your 5k tomorrow!
Today I had a near perfect run. Temp around 60F, a light mist and overcast. I had intended on running this one solo by Kody caught me putting on my Brooks (he always does) and was bouncing off the walls with anticipation. This was to be my longest run and I wanted to be able to focus just on that, but I couldn't turn him down and it was great weather for him to run, so I stuffed a few poop bags in my pocket, grabbed a bottle of water, and off we went. A couple poop stops on the warm up walk and two during the run, so he really didn't slow me down. We were about a mile into the run when I realized I didn't have a leash. Not a problem for me, as he's an awesomely obedient dog, but I know other runners and bikers don't know what to expect coming up on a dog without a leash so I usually bring a light one tucked into his collar so I can pull it out to use as needed. Unless you looked close you'd never even know he wasn't on a leash because he's right there beside me at a perfect heel (unless he stops to poop). I crossed 3 runners this morning and I just pulled off the side of the trail, with Kody at a sit, when they passed.
I say *near* perfect because in the last mile my ball-of-foot pain came back. Walking wasn't any less painful than running so I continued on. Iced it when I got home and popped two Aleve and it's doing better now.
I ended up running 5 miles. For June I'm 30.2 out of 50 miles, well ahead of schedule!

@shanaber - wish we would get rain without lightning, I'd run in it! I'm afraid to walk to the car in the storms around here, let alone be out running.
@jorocka - lol the tourists with selfie sticks. They are all over the place where I live. So ridiculous.
@7lenny7 - Awww Koby must be a good dog to stay with you like that! Is the ball of foot pain on both feet or just one? I used to get it at around mile 3, on both feet. I haven't had it in a while, but now I'm trying to increase distance once a week and when I got to 6 this week, both feet were hurting.
@skippygirlsmom - Awww Macy sounds so cute.0
