@annekka (little math, uh 30C is 9/5+32 uh 86F.) Ya that's a warm run!.. That humidity has to be stifiling.

I made 3.2 miles in 93° (34C), the humidity was only 36%. Wasn't bad, I talked myself out of going for 5-6. That'd be a stroke guaranteed.

You get used to it after awhile. Congrats on your run.

Thanks! I was hoping I would if I kept at it!

@kimlight2 my experience is that a well timed rest day is critical. Take it. You'll do better in the 5K rested and recovered.

No time to catch up on all the posts tonight. I will do that in the morning since it is a rest day and I won't be out running. More 'nonproductive time' on my timekeeping program for work :)

Hot and muggy run today. Was thinking there was no way I would finish my run because my legs felt so sluggish and it was miserable out but despite the conditions I was able to actually get a good fast run in, at race pace overall and under other than my warm up.

@missmelis98 - Doing well. Keep up the good work.
@shanaber - WTG running in that weather, and even making it a fast one! It's coming our way. Early starts help.
Ran 12 yesterday. Knees are clicking and still hurting. Had a fast walk this am of 3miles.

@skippygirlsmom - great job for your 41 day challenge!
@dennie24 - I am so sorry about your stress fracture. That's crazy since you are so careful. Hang in there, you will be running next month!

    June 1 - 5.1 miles
    June 2 - strength training
    June 3 - 5.3 miles
    June 4 - strength training
    June 5 - 5.35 miles
June 6 -34 mile bike ride
    June 7 - 42 mile bike ride
    June 8 - 2 miles
June 9 - Strength Training and Yoga class (1st one ever, no time to add it in my schedule, but tried it!)
June 10 - 6.63 miles - it wasn't as hot as it normally is, but very humid. I tried this thing called a "Chill Scarf" that I got from here:
    http://www.goneforarun.com/Stay_Chill_Instant_Cooling_Athletes_Towel_Band_p/gs-00738.htm
I wore it around my neck and it did help me stay cool. It's kind of a strange rubbery material. Curious how it will hold up.

I've missed posting with you guys. I went to a sports medicine doctor since my leg was not getting better and after an MRI I found out today that I have a stress fracture. I think he said in my right tibia. I'm frustrated because I do a good amount of strength training and am conservative with mileage in hopes of preventing an injury but no such luck. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up with you guys sometime in July. :)

sorry to hear..injuries such as yours are very frustrating...hoping for a full and healthy recovery...

@dennie24 - Sorry to hear. Hope the healing goes well.

@kimlight2 - You should not be tired going into a race. You should have all of your fitness in the bank at this point. Take a day off and if you are up for it just do a short mile on Friday to keep things moving, nothing challenging. You can afford to rest on Friday too if you are not back to 100%. Save all that energy for Saturday.

@torituma4 - How are you feeling today? Sounds like it could be a groin strain.

@shanaber - Way to go on totally conquering that heat and humidity!

@skippygirlsmom - That is so cool you are keeping that streak alive. I quit the first week! (no regrets though)

Six somewhat miserable miles this morning. It was a pretty, sunny morning, and I was in a good mood, but my HR was running a little high today which I can chalk up to a number of factors from not getting a full nights sleep, a late and heavy dinner last night, not having any water between waking and going out for my run, and the heat and humidity this morning. I made it through the big hills on the first 4 miles just running slow, but had to take a couple walk breaks on the last couple miles to get that HR back down a bit. I feel fine now though, but was struggling a bit more than normal during the last half of the run and my pace was slow.

    6/2 - 4.1 miles
    6/3 - 4 miles (8.1 total)
    6/4 - 4.1 miles (12.2 total)
    6/6 -13.4 miles (25.6 total)
    6/8 - 6 miles (31.6 total)
    6/9 = 6 miles (37.6 total)

    Goal 130 miles

    @ddmom0811 @stingrayinfl - thanks!
Skip has one of those cooling towels. We have a frog tog but last year she brought one that is more of a microfiber you wet even with room temp water and shake it and it gets cool. I can't find it online to post a picture of it. It's nice because it's not that rubbery feel of the frog tog. Since it microfiber you can tie it on your head or whatever too.
@dennie24 - ouch on the fracture, hope you are feeling 100% soon.
    @whatmerunning - I hope I make the whole 41 days LOL

    6/1- swim/ bike day
    6/2- 3 mi.
    6/3- rest day
    6/4- 5.7 mile trail run
    6/5- rest day
    6/6- swim and bike
    6/7- 1.5 mile brick run
    6/8- swim day

6/9- really challenging and HOT trail run in a local park. Trail was wide and well maintained so it looked easier than it actually was and I kept getting frustrated that I couldn't keep my HR down. Then I saw the elevation profile on Strava and felt a lot better about myself, lol.
    3.1 miles.
Also did a 15 mile bike ride after dinner. Those hills felt a lot easier!
    6/10- rest!!!!! Yay!!!!

    Total: 13.3 mi.
Switching to primarily trail running has really dropped my overall mileage!

Yesterday was a rest day as temps were forecast reach 90F. Late in the evening a slight front moved through to cool things off so I went for a short walk with the dog, but that short walked ended up being 5.3 miles. I used my FR305 just to get more experience with it and the heart rate monitor.

Unfortunately, that walk kept me up after midnight and the run I had planned for this morning didn't happen as I just couldn't get out of bed. I'm going to a MN Twins baseball game tonight. Not sure if I'll be up to running afterwards or not. I'd like to get in a couple of miles at least.

I'll be doing my first "vacation" run tomorrow night. My son is in a high school trap shooting tournament (The largest shooting event the world with over 5600 high school kids registered!) on Friday and I plan on running on a nearby trail the night before. My first time packing my running gear...I hope I don't forget anything!

The trap shooting sounds like fun! When I packed for vacation last week Allen said "you are taking more running clothes than anything else" LOL

    Go Yankees
