Why does this remind me so much of my career in art?

Why does this comment make me so sad? 😢 Was is hard to continue to find passion in making art when you counted on it to make a living, @AdahPotatah2024 ?

Are you telling me you earned less than $1 per copy you sold, @nossmf ? How is that not considered outright robbery?!

While I likely would have made more through a traditional publisher, isn't it far harder to turn a profit when self-publishing and accepting all the costs of production which come with? Isn't this why I'm hoping to get my second book published traditionally (and possibly get a re-release of my first book through the same medium)?

Could I answer with a yes and a no since I was completely burnt out by portrait photography, while I continue to love painting? Do you think the Habitat for Humanity will ever start refusing my boxes of donated paintings!?

    Haiku Hijinks, anyone?

    Although I'm thinking
    the answer is obvious,
    what is the question?

    I sit here thinking
    the answer is obvious,
    but what's the question?

Which is better, or are they equally bad?

Aren't haiku poems supposed to include rhyming/ describing nature?

Are you not aware haiku strictly speaks about the number of syllables per line of the poem, without restricting/recommending the content of the poem?

Aren't haiku poems supposed to include rhyming/ describing nature?

While they are often about nature, can't they be about anything?
And isn't the requirement not that they rhyme, but that traditionally they be three lines consisting of 5 syllables, 7 syllables and 5 syllables?
Don't contemporary haiku often enough break even this rule regarding syllables?
Can you imagine the fun I had in my first programming class, being given an assignment to write a program that generated haiku from several lists of words? 😂

    Isn't that boring?

    Would thinking of rhymes

    AdahPotatah,
    Why do you require rhyming?
    Why not let it go?

    Mr. Nossmf,
    Is not this a rebellion
    Against poetry?

    Do these poetries
    Written in English sound worse
    Than in Japanese???

    You know what sounds worse
    than a haiku in English?
    Why not binary?

    1 0 1 1
    0 0 0 1
    1 0 0?

Is it even possible to put into words the sheer emotions evoked by such numerically perfect prose?

    Binary haiku
    confounding the poet's muse
    why would you do that?

    Hexadecimal -
    comprehensible, maybe
    to a computer?
