I started a little late on July 13th at 194. This morning I am at 188.2. Doctor's goal 160. My goal 150. Tracking and eating healthy and exercising. Not bad for an old lady!

    Hi izzy214,

I know how you feel. Losing weight does not have to mean deprivation. I made myself some sad ol' "diet" meals this week (you know the low cal, bland, super healthy tasteless ones that are maybe TOO good for you) and I was uninspired to eat them and unsatisfied and empty when I had. I felt sorry for myself all week which led to temptation and feelings like I deserved a food "reward". It also lessons my resolve to stay the course.

Lesson learned. This week I'm going to plan my food diary around foods that I love, that I look forward to eating and preparing and that taste great and leave me feeling satisfied. Eating a variety of my favourite foods in moderation, in smaller portions, should lesson those "poor me" feelings and make this easier to do.

I know I still have a long way to go in separating my emotional comfort eating from eating for fuel. I'm not super sure how to do that though. If anyone has any positive experiences or books that help with this I'd love to hear about it.

Weekends are still horrible. I love my daily routing during the week, but weekends get so crazy that I find myself skipping at least one meal each day. Need to do better. But overall, getting closer to my goal each day :-)

Congrats on the weight loss! As for Venice, I've always found it a much more amenable Italian city to find non-carb heavy food - less pasta-focus, it seemed. As Venice is a port, there's an abundance of fish and seafood, and they are big rice dish people, compared to other parts of Italy. There's a seafood place called 'Trattoria Alla Madonna' near the Rialto Bridge - highly, highly recommend it! Also, portions are way smaller than what you may be used to in US restaurants, and it's a constant walking holiday IMO. No cars means you either use the water buses or just walk! Have a good time, anyway!

Thank you soo much for your recommendation. I will definitely check it. I am soooo soooo excited, I haven't even told the hubby yet as it is his surprise but I am sure he will absolutely love it!
