Took a "break" today and ran in the city for the first time in what feels like ages. I felt out of place but was happy to be on easy terrain and at least I didn't feel like I was following damp cougar tracks today unlike yesterday. Short but faster.

    Congrats @skippygirlsmom and Skip!!

Got my long run in this morning. Hope to feel better tomorrow for my last long run before a planned recovery week. I kept my HR down today but I think maybe the heat beat me down a notch. Or maybe I'm just ready for this break. Tomorrow morning will tell.

    7/2 - 6 miles (18 miles total)
    7/4 - 16 miles (34 miles total)

    7/8 - 12 miles (64 total)
    7/9 - 6 miles (70 total)
    7/11 - 16 miles (86 total)

@skippygirlsmom Congrats on the 1st place finishes. There is something to be said for being old.....I usually win or place in my age group cause there are only a couple of us!

    7/1 = 5 miles
    7/2 = 6 miles @ 6 weeks postpartum!
7/3 = weight training in the morning, 4 miles stroller walk
7/4 = Rest day, holiday dinner with the family and a very cranky baby. Add a dog terrified by the fireworks, shaking, panting and salivating on my bed, and you get the whole picture of my 4th of July night. Breath in…Breath out…
7/5 = 4 miles run, hot and humid, but I needed it for my sanity; 3 miles walk with the baby.
7/6 = 3 miles. Super hot, humid, yucky but an outside run it was!
7/7 = 2 miles around the block. Very tired today.
    7/8 = 6 miles
7/9 = Rest day, very much needed!
    7/10 = 5 miles
7/11 = 4 miles stroller walk, both mommy and baby needed it

@skippygirlsmom I love the pic of you and Skip, amazing shot! And double congrats on the 1st place! :)

Rest day tomorrow and then my long run on Tuesday morning. Wore new Sauconys today. Wow, could really tell how worn out my old shoes were. They only had ~300 miles on them but I've always been hard on shoes, even just regular shoes. I'm going to miss this weather when I get home. It was 62 when I ran this morning and didn't feel at all humid.

    7/3: Rest
    7/4: 3.1 miles (New 5k PR of 23:42!)
    7/5: 12 miles
7/6: 4 miles easy recovery pace
7/7: 5 miles of easy "I'm drowning in humidity" pace

    7/10: Rest
    7/11: 3.1 miles
7/12: 14.3 miles - HOT HOT HOT. Paced slower than I wanted because I let myself walk up the hills as temps soared from mid-60s to 80 degrees while I was out. Just glad I picked a sort of shady route today!

After 6 hours of sleep following last night's epic ballgame, today's group run took different route from usual, and looped back via my housing near the end of the run. As a result I ended today's long run at a shorter than expected 10.5 miles. Still, with some extra folks in the mix, the course was a bit faster and hillier than usual, so I definitely got in a good workout. Off to brunch now to eat back my running calories. Hoping this evenings game will be outstanding as well, but it'll be hard to top last night's 14 inning battle for NL Central supremacy.

    7/1 - 6 miles
    7/2 - 6 miles (w. 0.25-0.5-0.75-mile-0.75-0.5-0.25 pyramid @ 1:45 pace)
    7/3 - 5 miles w. strides
    7/5 - 13 miles
    7/6 - 6.5 miles
    7/7 - 7 miles w. strides
    7/9 - 6 miles (w. 0.25-0.5-0.75-mile-0.75-0.5-0.25 pyramid @ 1:43 pace)
    7/10 - 6 miles
    7/11 - 5.5 miles
    7/12 - 10.5 miles

Total: 65.5 miles, 2 speedwork session
Goal: 140 miles, 5 speedwork sessions
Remaining: 74.5 miles, 3 speedwork sessions

I am just checking in on everyone and reading through all the posts - looks like everyone is killing it even with the heat!

@WhatMeRunning - Hope you are doing ok after your 16 miles yesterday and another long one planned for today - wow! That is a lot for tired legs!
@kristinegift - Great job running 14 miles in the heat. It's tough but you got it done!
    @baldielove13 - You too getting in 13.3!!
@HonuNui - I will be in the same age group next year - maybe that means I will win my age group once in a while :) I did get a 2nd in a 10K in Seattle once.

I am still out with my knee. Went to the gym yesterday and got 30 mins of stationary bike in and the gym closed! I had no idea they closed at 7pm on a Saturday night! Planning to be back there this morning for a longer workout. I will try a short run on Monday and see how the knee feels.

Not really hot but very humid this morning, at least for this Minnesota boy. Took it really slow to make sure I could get the 7 miles in. Felt great at the end!

@skippygirlsmom, congrats for having such a great day with your family! That's awesome!!!

Yesterday I went 27+ miles at a 10:02 pace....BUT, it was in a sailboat. A perfect day for sailing! This is the first time I've been sailing since I got my Forerunner and I decided to bring it along with me to track our course:

@skippygirlsmom Congratulations, sounds like the three of you had a great day!

@GBrady43068 You did great on vacation, much better than me. I only managed an average of 30 minutes of running per week...

@shanaber: That was bad luck that the gym was already closed. I don't have a gym membership, but I've been considering trying one out for a while now. But the only one close to where I live is only open 10am-8pm on the weekends. That's one of the things that kept me from testing it yet - how are you supposed to get a working in during the cool times of the day in summer, when they aren't open? ... I hope your knee feels fine on Monday,

@Newarski22: Welcome :-) I usually run back to back Saturday + Sunday, since it's easier to find time for a run on the weekend.

Today was my first longish run in a month. It was a lovely 17°C / 62°F with a little rain today. Much better than last Sunday, which was 32°C / 90°F and sunny. Although I can already predict that my office mate will complain about as much about the weather tomorrow as I did last Monday ;-)

I ran to one of my favourite sets of stairs today. Nothing changed much while I was on vacation - I still only barely manage to jog up without walking, and I still find myself hoping for some goodlooking samaritian ready to perform CPR when I reach the top. B) As usual, no such luck, so 60 seconds of walking had to do for getting some oxygen into my lungs. But since I remember the times when I only made it halfway up before collapsing, I'm happy anyway.

Hi, I am a noobie to logging cals and this site. I dreaded running today but felt great after getting in 3 miles.Even though I am late I have been tracking my runs. Last week was off week for me from lifting so I did quite a bit of running.
I am gonna set a goal of 40 miles. I have already completed 21. So that leaves 19 to go which is a mile a day for the rest of the month.

First run since July 1 after forcing myself to do a mandatory rest week and being sick. I ran 4.8 km for a total of 8.2/50k for July. I don't think I'm going to reach my goal especially as vacation starts today.

While I felt less beat up at 5am today I decided to take a break today and slept in. A little regret but more satisfaction about it than regret. I do need to get my appetite under control during this upcoming reduced mileage week. It seems to be rest days when the appetite worked up from the previous days miles kicks in so I'm trying to be extra mindful of what I eat.

7/1 - 3.3 miles - usually my rest day, but keeping my streak alive (3 more days!)
7/2 - 4.6 miles while eating lots of breakfast gnats yuck!
7/3 - 2.3 miles - short run today - took a new running partner who hasn't run in a while. She did great! It was cooler and raining.
7/4 - 6.2 miles - last day of my Memorial Day to 4th of July 41 Days of Awesome running challenge.
7/5 - rest day and travel to El Paso ugh what a trip
    7/6 - 2.5 horrible dreadmill miles
7/7 - 4.2 miles and 2.25 - went and ran where my boss told me. It was beautiful. It was like 90 and no shade during the run and my breathing is taking a beating, but it was worth to 30 min drive to get there.
    7/8 - 5.5 miles
    7/9 - 3.7 miles
    7/10 rest day
    7/11 - 3.1 miles Strong Girls 5K run today.
    7/12 - 5.6 miles - HOT HOT HOT

    43.2 of 100 miles

Thanks everyone - it was a fun day.
@honunui - Skip has gotten very used to finishing up there in her AG and I was worried with her moving up and being at the lower end since that doesn't really benefit the younger folks. By the time you reach my age moving up is a woohoo so you are at the younger end of the class. she finished with a 23:21 about 40 seconds slower than her PR but she was 11th overall out of 178, so she's very happy.
@melaniefave41 wow on the pictures - you are my hero. I burst out laughing on the boyfriend comment, they once you catch them they are yours. If I'm not in running shoes, I'm in flip flops!
@toadhunter911 great job doing all that walking after surgery.
@pauladner 100 miles on the treadmill, bless you is all I can say. I just can't manage that.
@elise4270 those transition fees are killers.
    @7lenny loved the sailing course
@wendy1fl glad you were able to get a non puking run in. You poor thing.
@stoshew71 - great job getting the run in in the heat. You should have start at 5:00 and finished with us at 7:00. I talked to a few people who ran over 5 miles before our race.
@newarski22 I run back to back days all the time. I try to take Wednesday as a rest day and usually that is it. I might do a shorter run on Saturday to get my long run in on Sunday

Great job everyone getting out in the heat. It's been a killer!

Took an easy run today after a week off d/t a knee injury. Up to 8 running miles this month. I've walked more but am only counting my runs. The week out killed me, hopefully going to pick up the slack without over doing it!

@ddmom0811 Thanks. It's been nearly 4 years since I started my journey - dropping 70lbs (60 of which are still off) and went from not being able to run a mile, to having finished 3 marathons.
@melaniefave41 and @Elise4270 I was a missionary in Nigeria for 7 years - most people know Nigeria as home of those letters from "princes" that want your help getting money. That's why I chose 419er.

Another 5 in the books today, although I ran with a friend who was WAY too fast for me. I was a full 30 seconds under my normal pace, and our list mile was a minute under. I'll kill my training if I do much more of that!
