Welcome to our July Cycling Thread! If you are new to posting on this thread, or if you are new to cycling, We welcome you! If you are returning from a previous thread, We welcome you, too.
This thread is for anyone who rides a bike. Do you bike to work? Do you pull your children to the park? So you ride weekends? Do you spin, at home or the gym? Or, are you just starting out and remembering how much fun you had biking when you were a kid? However you choose to push your pedal, you are welcome on this thread.
There are no rules to how or what you post. You may post miles, minutes, # of rides, what the scenery looks like, anything. Whatever will motivates you to get on your bike.
Please know that everyone who posts is welcome and encouraged, whether you’re riding a 100 miler on the weekend or just riding around the neighborhood.

These numbers are *intimidating* but as a novice cyclist I've committed myself to cycling to work everyday. I can't work in miles but I'm aiming for 60km a week for July and see where we go from there! I've just seen that someone is posting in ride hours so I may try that in august! Happy cycling everyone :-)0

I can only get out once in a while, mostly on weekends, but I posted my longest and fastest ride this past July 4 weekend: 25 miles at just over 15 MPH. The beautiful rolling countryside with the hues of tan and green, and the wildflowers along the road really made it worthwhile.0

I hope everyone had a nice weekend... looks like most of us were able to get out and ride.

The call of the expresso VR bike machine at my gym got the better of me today, as I spotted a friend on the leaderboard, and had to decimate his times. Still, 40 minutes above 250 watts probably wasn't the best strategy to take right after a long swim, and immediately before starting my lifting then running workouts.
7/1 - 25 miles
7/2 - 15 miles
7/3 - 71 miles
7/4 - 11 miles
7/5 - 18 miles
7/6 - 25 miles (14 expresso, 11 bike to/from tonight's game).
Total: 165 miles
Goal: 500 miles
Remaining: 335 miles0 -
Hi all,
New to this thread, and a novice cyclist, but here's my goal for this month: 423 miles. Here's hoping I meet it!

I'm so glad to see that my cycling thread has continued on! I am very excited to see this, it has been going for 3 years now. Sadly, my health has kept me off of my bike and computer problems have kept me off of the thread. I just wanted to pop in and say I'm so impressed by all of you and keep up the great rides!0

7/06 - 16 miles @17.8mph
7/07 - 31 miles @16.5mph -- About half way into ride I rain into a WALL of rain. Could only see where I was going by following the white line on the side of the road (and thus almost rode into a downed tree!). Luckly rain slowed down after 10 min.

July goal miles: 800
