my view is that it's not the simple black and white matter you try to make it out to be.

also, simple carbs kick *kitten* the night before a 50 mile ride...just sayin'

I like potatoes and ice cream. Not together, though.

It's super yummy and has helped me go from 250lbs to 175 / 11% body fat. I am grateful for it, otherwise I could not complete 40-150 mile bike rides or lift heavy things.

I find that every time I eat complex carbs my body breaks it down into glucose. I figured I may as well cut out the middle man.

It depends on if my ochem professor wants me to draw it as a Hayworth or Fischer structure (or as a pyranose or furanose ring).

Sugars that are not from fruits and veggies and dairy - unnecessary and hold zero nutrition. Just extra calories. Bad for teeth. Okay every once in a great while but personally, I don't eat them every day.

Wait, so the simple sugar in fruit holds nutrition?

It fair to say eating a whole fruit is better than just drinking juice

No but its better to eat an apple and plum vs a king size snickers bar and coke.

Neither of those answer the question and you both have the right to your opinion although they don't answer the question. She said that the sugar in fruit holds nutrition.

Okay I'll play your game. I eat fruit because the sugars in it combined with the fiber and nutrients are delicious and nutritious.

I was asked for my opinion and my opinion is that if I'm going to eat sugar I should try to make most of it come from whole food sources. Not added, powdered, juiced, etc.

I don't get why that's so hard to understand.

She would be incorrect. And her opinion on sugar is also wrong. Why, because science says so.
