just run my first marathon while in training - 43.2k / 26.8 miles

run a bit more cause kept losing GPS - very frustrating

it's incredible how powerful the mind can be

first 10k were agony, even though I normally run 12 miles/day during week with no probs

10-20k was almost crying and "i'm giving up" time

then, suddenly, after 28k, started to sing, enjoy the pain, be motivated, and run faster, determined and focused

I wish I could always be in the same mood!

    552km for August, very satisfied

now time for a gelato and later a mega bbq and more

i had planned to run another mile and i should have but i got put off by a heckler
now i get stuff said to me all the time, usually along the lines of look at that fatty jiggling, i own a mirror, i know at 214lb down from 387lb that theres a fair amount of movement when i run

At the lake they have those pedal carts available for hire and on the last stretch one was coming towards us. the woman was sat doing nothing while her husband did all the pedalling and the kids bounced in thier seats. she had looked me up and down, laughed and then sneered before loudly saying "this is the best way to get around the lake, i dont have time for stupid running" i shouted back at her " thats nice, i do!"

but it bothered me so much that when i reached the car park i got in instead of running a half mile up the road and back again like i had planned

oh mai- that's awful!!! so sorry to hear that- I wish you could have finished!!!

it's funny I was driving yesterday and it was about 11:30 and MISERABLY hot (BF and I kept saying NO WAY IT"S ONLY 79*- it was just so unbearably hot and humid) anyway- this young man came literally slogging by my car while I was at a light. He was barely running- he must have been in his late teens- early twenties- over weight and just really grinding. And I seriously wanted to roll down the window and say F**K YES!!! My heart was bursting for him- because it was hot and miserably and he was out there effing doing it. (no way you'd catch my sorry butt out there at noon!!!)

But I know from here- some people really don't appreciate that type of encouragement so I kept my mouth shut-I'm a runner who says morning to everyone I pass whose out so this is hard for me... but I just wish every runner out there who struggled with the idea that someone was judging them knew there are runners everywhere who are silently cheering you on- GO GO GO KILL IT!! SO PROUD OF YOU. I do it for every runner I see- and I do it for anyone whose running in the mid day sun or the biting cold or driving rain.

Seriously- I just want to scream GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO KILL IT!! but I can't. So any time you think someone is heckling you- remember there are silent runners (or sometimes not silent) cheering you on from the distance. You're making people proud all over.

8.5.15.... Pt And Chiro Rest otherwise
    8.6.26.... 3.05 M..... 27:59 super cool morning
8.7.15..... PT and Chiro- Rest otherwise
    8.8.15.... 6.30...1:01 Calf problems
8.11.15... 3.02...30... super slow and rainy
    8.12.15.... 4.19 ...37:57... moderate-
    8.13.15.....3.00.... 35........Tread mill hills
    8.15.15..... 7.51.... 1:17- Hill run- WOOT WOOT
    8.18.15.....3.12..... 26:16-solid 3 miles
8.19.15.... 4.16....39.27- holy.crap. humid lying run was lying- also- hysterical sweaty poop
    8.20.15.....3.04.....27
    8.23.15.... 8.03 ...1:12... Super dark-Princeton run
8.25.15.....3.05....26:05 - "easy" three miles- but didn't feel as easy as Sundays dirt path run. oh well. gott'er done.
8.26.15..... 4.21... 36 "race pace" this was my quickest 4 miler- so I can't complain.
8.27.15..... 3.00 ...26:05- easy run- hit up the vibrams and just chilled
8.30.15.....3.13 + 0.64. I ran my own 5K today to make up for my none run yesterday. I came out of the gate a little hotter than I would have liked- my first mile was like a 7:34. I couldn't hear my GPS thing- it wasn't giving my the half mile increments- so I wound up running further out than I wanted- which meant I had to do my final 500 finish line push on the side of a busy rode- which kind of sucked- and then I had to jog home... hence the 3.13 +0.64 LOL. I'm not unhappy- I'm going to call it a solid 25- I start Map My Run- then half marathon- then the watch- and the watch put me at 24:46- the gps- 25 and change- so 25 for a 5K- I'll take that- the last official one I ran was 32 minutes and I was running a hill run with my friend I was helping pace.

The last .64 was a little brutal- slow and I really did push for my run so my legs were a little grumpy- but that's okay- I came back and hada brownie bite and some more coffee. I'm happy. HORRAH! Should have done my 9 miler this weekend though- next weekend I'll be in Austin and I'm probably going to dieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

    66.23 of 75 miles
    93.08 of total 225

I'm seriously tempted to run tomorrow to just hit my 75 miles- since I'm almost 10 miles short- but that's not smart- I must have done bad math in that I didn't add up what I should have run this month- I haven't missed any runs- but that's okay. big jump up for me from my pitaful 20 miles a month!!

obligatory finished my 5K picture. LOL

@JoRocka bless you, thankfully most runners i come across are like you, ultra friendly and encouraging, a smile is always nice to see and some at the lake i run on sundays will get lil miss to run with them for a while, always makes her day to run with someone else.

most hecklers i come across are those who dont run, are at the lake or in the streets just passing time i know they put folks down just to make themselves feel better and dont deserve the headspace. my sister is a normal size but has had things thrown at her while she was training for a marathon, some people are just dumb

25 minutes for a 5k,nice time, congratulations, love the pic too, you have lovely nails

    @ruqayyahsmum - First, I love the pictures!
I can't believe people sometimes... that is terrible! Like @JoRocka I am the person now saying 'Good Morning' to everyone I pass. I see other runners struggling and I want to cheer them on. Even runners who aren't struggling but are just out there getting it done. I cheer in silence but I also will mouth 'Great Job' or 'You've Got This' as I go by or even just a thumbs up sometimes. When I was first starting out, hadn't yet lost much and was struggling myself and was so self conscious about running, I remember another (fit) runner did that and made my day, heck made my month. When those rude people say things you just need to focus that you are out running, and what are they doing to be fit and that we are all cheering you on, flashing a thumbs up because you are great!

I also wanted to share a story of seeing someone on my run today. Last Sunday I ran a 5K across town. There was this sweet little old lady who was also running and volunteering at the event. We had this conversation about how much she loves running (she ran to the 5K from her house, ran the mile "fast" run before the 5K, the 5K, then worked her arm muscles scooping ice cream as a volunteer and then was gonna run home after the event).

She's in her 70s and she's a delight! Anyhoo....today I was running on the back end of my run and turned the corner and saw her. Her face lit up....she smiled, waved and gave me a thumbs up. I love that woman. I wanna be that woman. I waved back and smiled and continued on my run.

wow bless her, she sure has some stamina!

Three more hours of walking last night (did it outdoors as the dreadmill was grating on me) as not being able to swim, bike or run is driving me nuts.

    8/2 - 6 miles
    8/4 - 12 miles
    8/5 - 5.5 miles

    8/1 3.2 @ 10:55 (race)
    8/2 5.0 @ 20:00 (hiking)
    8/3 4.5 @ 18:00 (walk with kids and dog)
    8/4 4.0 @ 11:30 (treadmill) and strength training
    8/5 Amusement Park Day
    8/6 3.0 @ 12:00 and strength training
    8/7 Aquarium Day

    8/8 4.0 @ 15:00 (my first technical trail)
    8/9 5.0 @ 12:00 on my normal trail--felt a little sluggish
    8/10 4.5 @ 12:00 on a new trail near my house
8/11 3.5 @ 11:00 on the treadmill, laughing like an insane person, and strength training
    8/12 Rest Day. Yuck.
8/13 7.5 @ 12:56 (the first 10K were at about 12:15; I walked the last mile and a quarter with a terrible stitch in my side)
8/14 3.25 @ 11:04 on the treadmill and strength training

    8/15 5.0 @ 11:48 road/flat trail combo
    8/16 Rest Day
8/17 4.0 @ 12:47--I got out late and it was really hot. I also got "lost" a couple times, exploring a new section of trail.
8/18 4.25 @ 11:17 on the treadmill and strength training
8/19 7.5 @ 12:42 --it was drippy muggy but at least overcast, so not *too* hot. I'll take it!
8/20 2.25 @ 12:45 (last quarter was really slow, just walking) short recovery run in 100% humidity
8/21 3.5 @ 11:35 on the treadmill, and strength training

    8/22 Travel day
    8/23 Rest day
8/24 2.5 @ 12:43--my first beach run. I do not like sand in my running shoes! The beach itself isn't bad, but the dunes...sandy sandy sandy and all in my toes.
    8/25 3.25 @ 11:59 boring sidewalk run, but no sand :)
    8/26 4.0 walk
    8/27 3.5 @ 12:11 and 1 hour of kayaking...that was FUN!
    8/28 Rest Day

    8/29 Travel Day
8/30 7.0 @ 12:08 on the treadmill. It felt good to have a nice long run after so much junk food this week!

    90.75/100
I am not going to quite make goal this month, but it's pretty close considering my lazy-daisy vacation.

Barely made it, had to do 8 yesterday and 8 today, but hit 100 miles exactly. I'm going to stick with that for next month, too.

I have a HM training question. I finally feel stronger in my runs. My HM is October 4th and would like to push 90 miles next month. I did (I think) 70 or more for the last 2 or 3 months.

I'm not really cross training. A swim here and there.. So if I added a few miles to my short runs, which turnes 3-4 into 5 and swam once/twice a week and did circut training once a weekweek would that be over kill? Would be be better to add one short day run or add a mile to my current short runs?

I'm running 4/week. Tue, Thurs, Friday, and LR Sunday.

I'm feeling pretty good on runs despite 85-90° and moderate humidity.

The first time I ran 10 k outside, a guy in a Captain America shirt ran past me at about mile 4.5 and said "Good kick--keep kickin'!" and I swear it gave me the nicest little boost to my ego that someone noticed how hard I was working and encouraged me.

I say good morning to everyone, too. :)

Oh, and @ruqayyahsmum , I'm sorry you were discouraged by the heckler. I can't imagine why people feel free to say such negative things to other people.

@ruqayyahsmum Sorry about the low life heckler. Some people just have no class.
Like other's I cheer on everyone I meet on the trails - Hands on the hips walking and gasping or sprinting like a deer - doesn't matter.
