Still not achieving a lot - shattered after the weekend and spent today on a building site walking round reviewing potential work - at least I got a couple of miles out of it, even though my plan was for a ride tonight ( and failed).

Lindy Hop class - 4 times
Total mileage target - 10/130 miles

An exciting day today! Stunning result from our lads in The Ashes bowling the Australian team out for a pitiful 60. Not wishing to be smug at all but an exciting morning!!!
And then tonight my firstfirst Collegiate Shag class (cute loss of puns and innuendo). Exhausting and very very sweaty but great fun. My fitbit tells me I collected enough steps to have walked the equivalent of 6 miles!!! All in a two hour dance class!!
More dancing the rest of the weekend, would go for a ride otherwise but that'll have to wait until next week.0 -
WONDERING what the difference is in a 'fitbit' and a 'pedometer' .... Can someone enlighten ME?

My goal ... to move more than I did in July!!
Aug 1 - chilly (9C) and windy (30 km/h gusting to 57 km/h) with a "feels like" temp of about 5C and a little blast of sleet just to keep things interesting.
And we cycled 38.5 km up the cycleway and back on our Thorn touring bicycles.
Aug 2 - 2 km walk + 45 minutes swimming ... first time I've gone swimming in a long time!
Aug 3 - 0.5 km walk ... snowed in here! First time in 29 years, my part of the world got snow ... right down to sea level. There was snow on my beach!! Roads were closed ... couldn't get out of our area.
Aug 4 - 2 km walk (25 min)
Aug 5 - 5 km walk (60 min)
Aug Cycling: 38.5 km in 120 min + 0 min cycling indoors

A fitbit is just a glorified pedometer. In fact, I usually refer to mine as 'my pedo'
I have the basic Fitbit Zip. It clips to my bra, I forget it's there, it does its thing. It measures my steps, distance walked and how fast I have done that.
The usefulness bit for me is that is easy. It syncs to my phone or tablet, and records my steps on a chart/website so I can see if I've had a good week or a bad week in terms of how active I've been. You can challenge friends too.
There are more expensive versions of the fitbit that do heart rate, sleep etc. But I'm happy with what I get.
But yes. It's a pedometer.

THANK YOU girlinahat! My Pedometer does all your fitbit does EXCEPT I can't link it too anything like computers or phones..... It measures steps, miles, how fast I walk, how fast my heart rate gets. My old one broke and since it had a 5 year warranty they sent me a new one. It is almost like the old. The only difference is that it is a 24hour pedometer. It gives me the same miles but it seems too give me MORE calories than I got on the other. I am now wondering which one was correct....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Sundays are always difficult too get a lot of walking in. It is too hot after Church services and I can't get in a lot before morning Service. My day brought forth only 2.0 Walking miles...

Hi I'm new to this. I've had mfp for a few years but never really used it much. I thought I'd try to take part in a challenge to boost my motivation. I'm going to start easier than most and just aim to cover 70 miles this month on my Fitbit. I've been lazy and spent a lot of time sat on my butt as the kids have been ill so we've been stuck at home watching Disney DVDs. Now we are able to get out and about I want to up my game and get stepping.
According to my Fitbit I've done 19 miles so far so that's 11 August - 19/70 - 41 miles to go.0 -
