    @7lenny7 - better than 25 pennies I suppose.
@shanaber - I agree, I'm not picking up any loose change I see!
@skippygirlsmom - great pictures! Great time and Go Skip!

I didn't have to leave the house at my usual 6:30am today, so I got my long run in. Would have liked it to be 13 miles, but I'm fine with 11. I ran out of time, even with the extra time. I think that will be my last long one until the HM in a few weeks. Got strength training this afternoon ... but will have to focus on just the abs/upper body. Legs/ankles are feeling that run.

    9/1 - 5.25 miles
    9/2 - 3.55 miles
    9/3 - strength training + cycling class
    9/4 - rest
    9/5 - 34 mile bike ride
    9/6 - 12.82 mile run.
    9/7 - 36 mile bike ride
    9/8 - rest
    9/9 - 5.06 miles + strength training
    9/10 - cycling class
    9/11 - 6.02 miles + strength training
    9/12 - 34 mile bike ride
    9/13 - 62 mile bike ride
    9/14 - rest day.
    9/15 - 3.3 miles. + cycling class after work.
    9/16 - 11.03 miles + strength training

@skippygirlsmom Skip is definitely awesome! :)

45 minutes for me today. My quads were still a bit sore from squats and deadlifts on Monday but I got it done. I have a goal in mind that I would like to meet by January and if I get close enough to it then I am going to reward myself by signing up for a half marathon in June in Estes Park, CO. I really hope I get to my goal!

@shanaber I concur with everything @stoshew71 said. It's an amazing place to live if you like to run. Even things like cross country meets are like old home week for the runners (like Skip) who see friends from races outside of school.

I'm on a rest day today.

So you know I like to brag on my girl. She PR'd yesterday at the mud run with a 22:00.15 26th of 160, she's ill about the .15 she wanted under 22 so bad. But that time cut 34 seconds off her previous 5K PR and considering she was running through creeks with water up to her thighs I'm thinking Great Job! She came back to the finish shoeless. I told her if one comes off in the creek (cause that Alabama clay will suck their shoes off) to run without and we'll fish it out later. Well she ran the last mile or so with nothing but socks. She said her shoes were getting too heavy because of the water and mud so she pushed them off...ah there's her .15 she lost ha ha! They were somewhere around 2 miles and her and a team mate went to find them. I love these two pictures. Stan Gregg took these.

Congratulations to Skip. And I saw Gregg post the link to the meet in the WRH site.
You need to buy Skip some minimalist shoes now.

I've been trying that butt squeezing technique as well, but I had some difficulty last night. I couldn't find a quarter so I opted for two dimes and a nickel. About every mile or so I had to stop to pick up the loose change.

@Stoshew71 - That is so great that you have such a large running community there. You would think it would be similar in So CA but it just doesn't seem to be. As I have mentioned before, even the running stores are few and far between. I do think there are more in some regions, like some of the beach communities and for sure in San Diego.

That's a shame. And you would think. Maybe too much surfing going on.

@stoshew71 She was complaining her ankles hurt afterwards so though she likes them I'm not sure they would work for her.

I have laugh at the quarter comments, when we were growing up my Grandmother used to tell us girls to keep a nickle between our knees

5 miles tonight with running club. Normally they split near the end and the crazier faster/longer runners go off and do another couple of miles. Tonight was the first night I stayed with the faster/longer runners and it was a bit challenging as they ran about 1.5 mins faster then I'm used to. But I survived!

Skip needs a sponsor and they should be keeping her in gear. Don't forget to add some fisherman floats so you can find the shoes in the ponds.

Great Job - we usually under estimate what we are capable of.
When you copied your Ticker Link You missed the [ img ] at the start and the [ /img ] at the end of it.

8.2 km tonight with the Wednesday Night Boomers Running group - 1/2 of the Sunday Tims Trotters group and 1/2 of the TGIF Gang. Went up Pats Creek Trail - which was the original Highway into town before it started to slide. Will have to take my phone someday and take some photos.

Took a rest day yesterday as I was out biking for most of the day to/from each of the double-header games (as they did it as a day/night split). Ended up running 9.5 miles today as I'm almost out of days up north this month and would rather get in my remaining mileage here vs. back in the super-hot & humid south.

    9/1 - 5 easy miles
    9/2 - 6 miles total (1.5 run + 4.5 run)
    9/3 - 11 miles total (1.5 run + 4 run + 5.5 run)
    9/6 - 6 miles
    9/7 - 5.5 miles
    9/9 - 5 miles
    9/10 - 8 miles
    9/11 - 8 miles
    9/12 - 4 miles (7 x 1/3 mile repeats w. 2 minute recovery jog at 6 min/mile pace)
    9/13 - 12 miles
    9/14 - 8 miles
    9/16 - 9.5 miles

Total: 88 miles, 1 speedwork session
Goal: 150 miles, 5 speedwork sessions
Remaining: 62 miles, 4 speedwork sessions

Hi all! I have just started running again after years off and many pounds heavier. I am not yet into measuring mileage…still in minutes! LOL! But I intend to get there! Taking it slow and steady! This thread is extremely motivational!

Welcome :) Are you doing the couch to 5k running program? If not, it's a time based program with a walk/run cycle. I found it helpful a couple of years ago when I was first getting back into running after taking several years off.

    Hi there, @ACSL3,
No I am doing a Darebee 30 day program, called Walking to Running. Almost at the end of it and will have to figure out my next step. It will have me running intervals of 2min walk/5min Run. I am really enjoying it.

I haven't heard of that one, but it sounds good :)

Good morning everyone! I need a bit of advice please. I'm fairly new to running and am doing it to keep my body ticking over and lose the last 6 lbs. I thoroughly enjoy it. I'm doing 4.46 Miles per morning 5 days a week. I run for about 45-50 minutes at a time. But .... I feel totally shattered. ...even if I have a day or two off. I do my run sometimes walking a small part of the way and feel fine but later in the day I feel exhausted. Do you think I should run faster for a shorter period of time.
I love getting out running and don't want to stop but not sure what to do next. My bloods are all fine, blood pressure normal etc.....I'm 47 5 ft 132 lbs. Any advice from you lovely people would be great. ...☺☺☺

@rockstar53 Welcome to the group! Don't worry about posting your mileage. It's all good! Don't forget that pretty much all of us were once right where you are now.
@JoRocka Nice pace you are turning in there - great job!
@7lenny7 You know what you've done? You've redefined what Runner's Bonk means!
@patrikc333 Very impressive mileage racking up!
@Stoshew71 Huntsville sounds like a great place to live and run! I think I've seen a documentary on it - isn't track a huge spectator sport there? Very cool in any case.
@skippygirlsmom Your daughter is doing some impressive running!
@dawniemate You might consider slowing down your run pace a bit. Do you have any idea where your heart rate gets to during your run? Are you refueling well? Eating those run burned calories back? Are you by any chance a blood donor? Even if not, are you up on where your iron levels are?

Only had time for a short run today - story of my life lately - so decided to pick up my pace a bit on the lakeside trail and it felt pretty good.

The ads popping up are reading my posts or exercise history. Just got one that I barely read but it said something like "spinning class affecting your sex life?" I was adding food so I clicked away so fast I didn't even see what it was advertising for. I never said that was happening! What the heck? I am losing a toenail... I need an ad for that.

I realised I haven't updated my latest for September. ..
Sunday I completed my first half marathon in 1:59:05. I am really pleased with my time. I was hoping for sub 2 hours.

I have also done a post race run yesterday 5.5 miles

Taking my total for the month to 59.4/100

9/1 - 3.5 miles - way too many pushes on the snooze this morning!
9/2 - rest day walked the doggie instead
    9/3 - 5.1 miles
9/4 - 10 miles last 2 were HOT HUMID and MISERABLE LOL
9/5 - rest day - cross country meet - Skip did great 24th in her division 23:37 no where near a PR but it was so hot and humid you could hardly stand to be out there to watch let alone run. Proud of my girl.
    9/6 - 5.1 miles
9/7 - 5.2 miles of trail running - OMG we had so much fun!!! Skip wanted to practice trail running for her meets and folks gave me some great recommendations of trails to run. We went out this morning and had a blast. The first trail was marked as easy/difficult so it was some easy packed dirt and some gravel with harder roots and rocks to climb. The second was difficult and some parts were about 2' wide and quite a climb (for me LOL). We loved it!
    9/8 - 5.1 miles
    9/9 - 5.5 miles
9/10 - 7.2 miles nice slow pace this morning, just wanted to get the miles in. Still pretty humid (97%) but the temp was 69 so it was nice. Annoying little doggie chased me this morning and nipped at my heels, honestly people it's dark out keep your doggies inside so they don't get run over.
    9/11 - 5.3 miles - cool 64 but humid 100% morning, but nice weather for a run
9/12 - xc meet rest day
9/13 - 2 miles - was going to rest, but did 2 miles at the lake to move my legs
9/14 - 6.2 miles - good night 46 degrees in Alabama in September who would have thought it!
    9/15 - 5.4 miles
    9/16 - rest day
9/17 - 8 miles - started off ugly and then got great and felt good. Negative splits the whole way...that never happens

    65.6 of 120 miles

    exercise.png

Skip said thank you so much from the bottom of her  She had me go out yesterday and look at recruiting info for colleges, she'll have to concentrate on track times because no college looks at XC times.

Took 10 days off to nurse a sore knee. I'm not sure I'll be able to meet my goal, but I'm going to try!

@karlundy @shanaber @elise4270 @7lenny7 - we would sit at our neighbors who had the tree and the "fruit" would fall off and hit us. Why they put a picnic table under that tree I'll never know. Once a week we would gather them all up, some times we'd get 50 or 60. Great memories...well not the getting hit, but the memory from my LONG ago youth.
@juliet3455 I'll have to remember the fisherman floats LOL Her goal is to run for the Fleet Feet team, she's too young right now and needs to bring down times a bit, but it's a good goal.
@ohhim okay I have to ask, what do you do? I've figured out it has to do with baseball but that's all I figured out
@dawniemate I agree with @mwyvr you might need to slow down a bit. There are nights I'm so exhausted I can't move, but they are more the exception than the rule and probably has more to do with my life and not necessarily running. Also how many calories do you eat a day and do you eat back some exercise calories?
@ddmom0811 OMG I spit diet coke on my desk reading about your ads!!!
@nettiejb CONGRATS on the HM time, that is an awesome time. :star:
@stoshew71 awesome run today, as usual
@kristinegift come on you were just complaining about the heat LOL I was thinking this morning my arms were chilly and I was like okay girl last week you were saying you were hot pick one ha ha!!
@smith092015 I do that too sometimes cut the run short and 10 mins later I'm like dang I could have finished!
