The Amorus Ladles posed this 5worded question that theEstephan Grain Processors answered with one nonsensical phrase.

Nice going @Mustang_Susie , you're 1/4 correct (which is nicer than saying 3/4 wrong)
You've got 1 artist; 1 more artist, and 2 songs (and $4) will get you on the BART train :)

I think we have the first half now.

Lovin' Spoonful -- Do You Believe In Magic

The second half could have to do with The Miami Sound Machine via Estephan?

Better! You're collectively at the Bob Jovi marker (half way there...get it :D )

now for the second artist think alternatively
    •Another word for Estaban is?...
•Another word for Grain processor is?...

    Is it Estephan or Estaban?

Growing up on a farm, I'd think of a cow as a grain processor.

    Rochambois LOL

Heard this one the other day. Top, Top summer hit (in my opinion of course) from 1974. Should be easy.

Expensive flight seating / sandy shore + infant = [band/song]

Here's a personal fave that's a blast from the past, and further past

King Louis the first + a lone stray cat = this ode to springen singen und schreien

    solve for artists and song

Not sure if this is the direction you're heading, but off a quick Yahoo search (they have a fine search engine and they aren't dead) I found....

King Louis the first was known as King Louis the Pious.
One suggestion for a long stray cat was feral.

Which located a person in Texas named Pius Ferrell.

Okay, here's an easy one (for the real oldtimers..yeah me)
Here's a new twist to the ROCK+ROLL ARITHMEITIC:
    STOP THE PRESSES: HEADLINES!!!

How to play: take the long-azzed hint below, and, in Newsman fashion, cull it down into the simple Frontpage Headline and song

Story: Chicago Trumpeter earns newfound respect as an enlistee in the armed forces
    Headline/Song?___________________________
