It has been a really fun week BlackDawn. Washington is a great city. Yesterday I 'rested'... 19400 steps, 8.4 miles... Which I mostly got visiting interpretive points of interest & hiking short trails at Manasses National Historic site. It was a beautiful landscape just touched by fall color on a crisp blustery day; sobering to consider how many young men lost their lives here in the civil war. mrcpkqrssver.jpeg

Some days are just 4.10 days BlackDawn! I couldn't out walk the caloric temptations of DC yesterday, and went over my allowance for the first time on this trip.
    :-(
Oh well, today is a new day.

    1.78 miles
    10% FULL incline
    3.3-3.6 mph
    About 40 minutes.

Yes! Finally, I got back up to 10% on my treadmill again. This time WITHOUT my darned deformity acting up and causing me pain.
Got two weeks of training at that level and will soon push for two miles at the full incline going 3.3-3.5 mph.
After two weeks I'm going back to 0% incline and will try jogging.
Be awesome if I could one day jog at a 10% incline.

    October 13th: 0.3 miles, bleh
October 14th: 5.1 miles, 4 of it in 90 minites

    Great walking you guys!

I enjoyed another 'rest' day with 11256 steps or 4.3 miles.
Big walking week, so I needed to lay off... Ended up going 159097 steps which works out to 75.3 miles!

Some of my miles today were at the National Arboretum, a must see for anyone who enjoys gardening. The photo is from their meadow with columns salvaged from the original Capitol building...

Holy cow Batman. She said 159,097 steps. And yet she still has her feet. Must be a distant cousin to Wonder Woman.

Hahaha blackdawn.... Hardly! I'm a sub so I'm already on my feet for at least 75k a week anyway! And this was unusual because: vacation!! I wear very matronly shoes for this many steps, however. Tomorrow, no steps. We're biking to Mt. Vernon.

A bit late to this but I've been on a roll since June. I finally have been able to stop hitting the snooze button during the week so I've got a streak going that I'm trying not to break. I don't count steps but I go 5 miles. Baring illness or blizzards, I plan to keep on going. Best wishes everyone.

Well, I did end up doing some walking: 13905 steps, 6.2 miles... walking to brunch & all around Mt Vernon. AND I biked 23.4 miles from Alexandria to Mt Vernon & back. Gorgeous day to be near the Potomac. Perfect last day of my vacation. Flying home tomorrow! Here's a shot of Mt Vernon. pmgi9pn0anf2.jpeg

I'm in! I walk my dogs 5 days a week, 3-4km each time. Today I did the 3 km walk with only one of the dogs as taking both of them has been too difficult.

    Very cool!
My Dad toured in Europe, literally, packed the whole family in a van while on leave and off to who knows where.
I was to little to see out the window, and every couple of days was a new place. He would show up when it was dark, and then we slept. Woke up the next morning outside the tent or van to a brand new place every couple days.
    I've always loved traveling.
    Hope you enjoyed your trip.

That is a great story blackdawn! Yes, I love to travel too. We never traveled: I had a single teen mum & she took care of my grandmother who was schizophrenic, so there was no time...no money...no help...you can imagine, and for me travel became the cornerstone of a fabulous grown-up life free from all that terrible responsibility. I've traveled less in recent years because of bills, work, saving but when I get the chance I always feel so exhilarated by it. It is such a great feeling to wake up in a new and tantalizing place, isn't it?
