I've now lost twenty pounds and am just off my goal, so I'm increasing my calories a little this week in order to slow my weight loss and ease into maintenance. We'll see how it goes...
Great!!! Easing into maintenance is key! Great job!0 -

ENCOURAGING WORD...
Just losing weight is only the beginning of things! A friend of mine once lost all of her weight and told me she thought it would feel different--she thought she'd be happier. I realized after speaking with her that losing the weight won't matter much if we don't like what we see in the mirror before the weight loss. Look at yourself in the mirror! Take a good long look! So many times, I focus on the external and not what's at my inner core.
Look to the core matters in your life and within yourself without being distracted by irrelevant concerns to enjoy each season you are in. This will help you to focus on what is really important to you. When you reach your goal weight you will have already begun to enjoy who you really are at the core. I believe we must get to this place of awareness before we can realize effective progress. Don't waste your time worrying about things that have no value. Organize your day and your thoughts in such a way that you put aside the extraneous distractions and make your important priorities rise to the top.
Have a beautiful Fall day!0 -
BTW (by the way)...
We are just beginning WEEK 3 and have 7 more weeks to go to our challenge deadline. It will have been a total of 10 weeks for those who have participated from the beginning of this Fall Weight Loss Challenge! Let's all choose to better at the finish of this journey than when we began!
I see it already in many of your responses so keep up the good work, carry on and enjoy this journey of a better YOU!0 -

ENCOURAGING WORD...
Consumed with this 'THING' called losing weight?
Do you ever feel so consumed with this thing called losing weight? It's on your mind 24/7...
You journal your food...
You log your progress...
You exercise...
You weigh yourself every morning (even though you shouldn't)...
You lose a few pounds and celebrate...
You gain a few pounds and get depressed...
You eat again, go to sleep and do it all over again the next day!
Its like our every waking thought is on this 'THING', and how in the world did this 'THING' get so out of control that it seems to control US instead of us controlling 'IT'?
It feels that way to me anyway... Maybe that's why I wanted to find a place to just encourage others through the process; a place where we could all be encouraged and encourage others. We are NOT alone and it is a process where there are NO QUICK FIXES. We need each other! Other people who never struggle with this 'THING' just don't get those who do. It's one day at a time living and choosing, being and believing that one day we will arrive. And with the encouragement of others, WE WILL!
Our breakthroughs are right here right now. Can you see them? They are in the little things...Like that choice you made to go to bed early or take a long bubble bath instead of snacking mindlessly through the night. Or maybe it was your choice to get out of bed in the morning and take a long walk even though it was cold and rainy outside. Or just maybe it was your choice to love who you are and who you where made to be instead of telling yourself you'll never amount to anything.
Celebrate your breakthrough today by thinking on what you did do right instead of what you didn't. Don't consume yourself every waking minute with this 'THING'. It doesn't control you, you control 'IT'! Yes, journal your food and yes, log your progress, but then let it go for the rest of your day and live well.
All you have is today, so make it your best.

Hey everyone. So many people are kicking butt at this challenge! Keep it up!
SW: 148 lbs (Oct 1)
CW: 145.8 lbs (Oct 21)
GW: 142 lbs
2.2 lb loss so far. For someone that's been averaging 0.5 lb loss/week, I'll take it!
