Throughly Annoyed at my Inability to Binge Properly

I have lost around 50lbs and yesterday in a fit of feeling sorry for myself (I'm stalled, yep I know why) I decided to say "Screw it! I'm eating a tub of ice cream!"
So I went to the store and bough a carton of chocolate chip cookie dough. NOM.
Went home, put on Time Team (I'm a nerd, shaddup) and tucked into my gallon or so of ice cream.
10 spoonfuls in and I was done. Full. Binge done.
WTF? In my hay day I could have polished that thing off but my body would have none of it. It was too sweet and there was too much of it.
I repeat: THERE WAS TOO MUCH ICE CREAM. This is simply unheard of.
So I threw it away. No need to have it sitting in the freezer mocking me.
So here's the lesson guys/gals. Even if you fall of the wagon those good habits you spent months building just don't go away, they are there under the surface waiting to come up again. Here's to hoping I can excavate mine!
You threw it away. You THREW IT AWAY?! At least share with those of us who still know how to binge perfectly fine!0 -
I feel like I've hit a nerve. I don't usually go around throwing out ice cream, honest! Here's a kid eating ice cream!

I find this to be true. I have to work to get the healthy habits, and I have to work to lose them. But the last 4 years of not giving a damn proves I am willing to put in the work to forget them when given the chance0

I totally get what you're saying. I ''binged'' a couple of nights ago and thought eff it I'm not logging. The day after I felt silly (I'm only sabotaging myself, right?) So I added it all up... and it came to about 300 calories over goal, still 300 calories under maintenance. I, too, seem to have lost my talent for eating everything in sight and then some.. So sad.0

I know how you feel. I can't finish a whole pizza anymore ;-(0

I had what I thought was a binge day yesterday. I actually only ate 500 calories more than I would normally eat and I still did not exceed my calorie goal. I even got the ice cream out of the freezer, thought about eating a lot, then put it back in the freezer without dishing up even a single spoonful. But oh boy I was scared to get on the scale this morning. Ended up only weighing half a pound more and that's probably due to the extra sodium I ate last night.0

I'm still mad at you.0 -
Good for you! It's very true... the good habits that you work so hard to create when it comes to nutrition and exercise never go away. Even if you want them too! I remember years ago me and my husband ordering out dinners almost every night, huge steak-bomb subs, chips and sometimes we'd even have fries as well! Now just thinking about that makes me feel full... LOL!0

I loved reading this.........isn't it amazing how much priorities change when we start actually CARING about ourselves and being able to look at food as just fuel instead of some sort of distorted reward? LOVE IT!0

It wasn't even that. My body simply wasn't reacting to it as it used to.
It used to make me feel good to be full, now I just feel ill. The turn off switch has moved I guess.
Good will never be just fuel to me. To many yummy things to NOM!0 -
Wish my "binges" were like this, I used to have a bad problem with binge eating and although I prefer healthier food now I can get through like 6000 calories (of vegan food!!!) in one day, it's a *kitten* habit I'm trying to kick. I don't know how I was never morbidly obese to be quite honest0

Well that's just not fair, now, is it?0 -
Last Wednesday a very close friend died in a car accident. Thursday I was in shock, and I gave myself permission to binge. Because I really, really REALLY wanted to enjoy *something*. I didn't have much on hand, but I had some cinnamon candy (Hot Tamales) in a jar.
I ate 2 servings, and spent the rest of the day completely nauseated. So much for that plan.0 -
If you found that you could eat in moderation/not binge, why did you throw it away? I'm not judging, I have thrown peanut butter away...just curious.0

I am so sorry for your loss.
To be fair I don't think hot tamales are bingeable.0 -
this is a great post OP and loving all the fun comments too!
I also can't manage quite as much bingeing. I can still down a substantial amount of some stuff like ice-cream but I can't eat a whole pizza anymore. I'm stuffed at half.

Honestly, I didn't think I'd enjoy it in moderation. I know it seems weird but I'm all about big portions of stuff. I like eating. Having a serving of ice cream is just, meh. I'd rather eat a whole bag of carrots!
It's why I'm all about things like spaghetti squash and zoodles. I can eat a serving bowl full of that stuff and still com in under goal!0 -

I totally hear that.

I used to be able to eat most of a 10" pizza. The last time I left myself enough calories in my day to eat one, I only made it through 1/2 of the pizza. And whoa... I was full. So I totally get this. And honestly it felt really good, putting that 1/2 of a pizza in the fridge and not eating it.
Now, a binge is cutting up a whole pepper and eating it. 200 grams of pepper... that's a tasty binge.0 -

Yeah, I'm a volume eater as well. Just sayin, since you saw you could do it once, I'm sure you could do it again0 -

It frees me up to enjoy it as a smaller treat. Maybe a cone now and again. But not a gallon in the freezer. That's just asking for trouble! (For me). And as I mentioned upthread, I'm the only one who likes ice cream so no need to save it for others0
