I heard this NPR show once that had this appalling fact-- some ridiculously high percentage of americans haven't read a single book since they finished school.

So if you haven't read 50 shades, no surprise.... statistically, most of the folks here aren't reading anything.

I'm more interested in what you ARE reading.

    So do tell!

Hey just cause you would rather watch free porn than spend money on housewife porn doesnt mean you arent reading. I was reading about Mesopotamia last night, but it's such a dry book that I passed right out.

haha. I was just saying that the dudes saying they dont' read it aren't telling me much... are they not reading it because they don't read? or are they not reading it because they would rather read something else? I *hope* people read. I do! I am in love with the written word!

I was reading yesterday a how to on a stay and vacates. I am reading the bible. And i just read the Diving Bell and the Butterfly.

I am also reading Jung on Synchronicity and the Paranormal (still plugging away at that)... and the gnostic gospels.

In the 90s, way before the ShadesOG series, Ann Rice wrote S&M erotica.
I knew men who actually read that and there's another S+M author from
the 70s men are knowing to collect but it is written as SciFi. Depends on how
it's packaged to intrigue men I guess.

AMen to that...Sleeping beauty series. Now that's a read...no question that it is fantasy but 3 books in a day ....mind you I was in my 20's then...

I don't read nearly as much as I used to, but I still manage to squeeze in a few books a year.

    Most recently:

    Dead Things - Stephen Blackmoore
    Blackbirds - Chuck Wendig

I read Atheism for Dummies a while back. Currently struggling through the Machine of Death anthology; I may have to put that aside for something else.

I think I'm going to read it now just because it's causing such a hooplah. I hope it's about a fat couple who likes a little BDSM in their bedroom, and gets all amateur funky. If it's about some absolutely gorgeous woman and some ripped Adonis meeting and unable to contain their feelings of passion while he introduces her to blind folds and cuffs as she timidly awakens to her sensual taboo desires I'm going to burn it for stupidity.

What if the Adonis only has one leg(for walking) and no cuffs--just food cuffs--are you still gonna break out the blue tips?

I'm weird when it comes to reading books. I'll read like 5 in a row and then stop reading for a few months and then do it again. Recently I finished World War Z and the Beach but I haven't picked up a new one yet

50 Shades was a GREAT series. Don't let anyone tell you different. Its pron you're looking for however...I could see how you wouldn't like this, since there is actually an amazing story behind it. READ them!! :-D

I have read some. Entertaining. : ) Not a regular reader of it though.

literotica.com/stories/ has a bunch of user submitted stories in any flavor you can imagine for free.

I read 50 shades out of curiosity. Worst book I have ever read and about as racy as a three legged turtle.

My wife read the first one and would stop occasionally to read some of the "serious" parts to me so we can lol together. It's garbage. Poorly written, about as exciting as watching paint dry, and did I mention poorly written?

Are there any men who have read any of the romance novels like 50 Shades, Crossfire Series, etc?

Do you read them with your spouse/SO or have you read them out of curiousity?

    No and no.
    I surf adult vids.
    I am visual.

Okay, maybe it isn't too cut and dry like that, but somewhat. I have read 'romance' books in the past and written some pretty saucy stuff too for a literature website that was around years and years ago. It is always entcing to find an author or person who can capture your mind, feelings, and imagination with words.

But really, I just surf videos anymore.

I need to say that it is very sad to me that anyone needs these books to have a good sex life. Enjoying reading erotica (which these books barely are, anyway) is fine. I get it. But to NEED it because your so uptight in the bedroom makes me sad. Sex is not something to be ashamed of. Asking for what you want isn't to be ashamed of.

Loosen up, live a little and have some real fun!

Well sometimes a lady does need to rub a quick one out and needs a quick idea.
My imagination and sexual history provide plenty. :-)

    I love you. :flowerforyou: :drinker:

LOL you know those lady bits dont mind a bit of badly filmed, poorly acted, 1970's naughty picture every now and then. Bom chicka wow wow..."Hey pizza delivery ma'am." "OOOO do you have a big slice of hot sausage for my pie." Why yes I do ma'am"....and action starts.

Yeah... Instead of reading 50 Shades, I'd just save some time and watch porn. Then read a good book.

Yes, the Beauty series and the Gor series.

I only just remembered For. ding.ding.ding we have a winner. To think I was beginning
to think nobody here knew what I was referring to. Guess the world of Bdsm doesn't
    touch mfp. lol
