Walking seems like the easiest way to start getting exercise, and even if you can't track distance (or don't want to), tracking time is good too...go for a 10 min walk after dinner, or up it to 30 minutes, you'll be amazed at the end of the month how much more exercise your getting in.
Check in everyday with how far you walked or how long, this is just to motivate us to get in at least some exercise every day, and keep an eye on each other.
good luck
I just heard about myfitnesspal last week after setting the goal to exercise for 30 minutes per day for all seven days per week for the next 30 days. When I read your post this morning I decided it would be great to walk not only for November but also into December. How do I join?0 -

Great walking Winnie.
I've been AWOL! just hard to keep up with the road trip we've been on...
So I think I left off at last Friday, a good day.
Saturday, a bad day! My indoor cat disappeared out an open door, but came home that night. Still, stressful. Managed to get 10551 steps, 4.5 miles.
Sunday, a close-but-no-cigar day! Flew Spirit air (scary) to Dallas to meet my husband on his trip home from DC, so we could share driving. Got almost all my steps in at the Oakland airport waiting for my delayed flight. Figured I would get the last 500 or so deplaning & getting out of the DFO airport BUT FORGOT ABOUT THE TIME CHANGE... ~cue shower music from Psycho~ By the time I got to Denver it was tomorrow. Thanks, spirit air. 9410 steps, 4.0 miles.
Monday, a frustrating day. Tried to walk at Denver's Trinity River watershed park but discovered the segments have significant gaps. Planned to hike the meteor crater trail outside Odessa TX but got lost trying to find the university's scale replica of Stonehenge first, and dark descended. Drove over 700 miles but only walked 5585 steps, or 2.4 miles. Pathetic!
Tuesday, a better day. Started with a crack of dawn hike into the Organ Mountains national monument at Las Cruces. 13408 steps, 5.8 miles. I find it hard to relax & enjoy myself if I don't know exactly how & when my step quota will be met. Ended in Palm Springs.
Tomorrow: another hike @ nearby San Jacinto Mountain. Then home! Ready to be back in northern Cali with my regular routines.
Here's a pretty picture from this morning in las cruces:

Sounds like a fun trip! When I travel, I rarely make any kind of concrete plans. They almost never play out like I thought they would anyway. I like touristy stuff but I'm motivated by being outdoors and away from the crowds, so if I go to say Vegas, I'm apt to talk about my hikes in Red Rock Canyon or the Valley of Fire rather than anything on the strip. Doesn't usually make for exciting stories, but I enjoy the time alone.
Saturday was the last day I was out walking in any real manner and got in 13.5 miles. Since then it's been work, sleep, work, sleep, etc. I can't wait for this week to be over and get back into a routine as well.0 -

Well I was supposed to go the gym today but I weighed myself and said screw it. I had a 1/2 pound weight gain and I know it's not real weight but I got pretty upset so I decided to stay home. I DID go out and took advantage to the great sales going on. I found a pair of decent work boots for $35....regular $120. We also got our daughter a new Columbia winter jacket for a really good price as well. I figure the boots will be awesome for winter and in the spring I will probably buy myself a new pair of hiking runners, and save the boots for wooded areas that I am going to do next summer

Another nice hike-then-drive day on the road yesterday... Our last as we arrived at my MIL's last night. Everyone is delighted to have my husband home for the first time in 4 1/2 months. Ironically, a new job he wants was posted just last night... If he gets this one, we'll be back at this again by April or May. Life!!
14268 steps, 6.1 miles. Most of it through this gorgeous palm oasis trail on Cahuilla tribal land just south of Palm Springs.
Happy Thanksgiving walkers! Grateful for your fellowship on this forum!!
