I might take the rest of the candy out of the house cause my kid is two and he doesn't remember it exists anyway. Last year I'll be able to get away with that...... what to do about the hubby is another matter
Lol love it. I have a 3 year old and he got exactly 5 pieces of candy and the rest are in the trash!
You know, you could donate that leftover candy to a school. We often get donations, which are given to the counselors and classroom teachers to keep on their desks, pass out during games, and give to kids who are having a hard day and just need a little extra something. I hate to see food, even candy, thrown away.
I am not the person who did this but too many kids have allergies that many schools wear I live will not hand out candy or treats of any kind in fear of a lawsuit.
That's true too, but there are plenty of things that could be done with the candy. What an absolute waste of time and money. That candy could have went to other kids or the people handing it out could have saved it for something else. What's the point of trick or treating if you're just going to toss most of it away?
We didn't toss it. There's all of like 15 pieces here though, a bit little to balance out a drive to the closest school. I think I'll send it to work with hubby if it gets bad, but I'm doing alright resisting.
I'm not sure what happened in the comments, but my post was actually to the person who gave their kid five pieces of candy and tossed the rest in the trash. At least you're doing something with your spare candy.
OH! I see, my bad. Yeah, I mean one the one hand, I want to congratulate anyone with the willpower to trash the haul, like as opposed to binging on it. But yeah, I would rather somebody eat it than just trash I guess. I think I'll send it to work with hubby. I don't really want to give my two year old any, because he's already insane he doesn't need assistance in the lunaticking dept. And we don't, either of us, especially enjoy candy, but his co construction workers will!
Of course! My three year old niece is already going candy crazy from yesterday and keeps asking for more lollipops. We're limiting her daily candy consumption, but the first thing we did was sort the candy into what she can/can't eat, then we ate some, gave some away, and still have some leftover. Chocolate has a quicker expiration date, but most of the fruity stuff is good for at least two years. Regardless, like you said, it can be shared with coworkers, brought to schools that allow it, handed out to other kids, or saved for another time. I know kids shouldn't have an abundance of candy, but it seems like such a waste to bring a kid trick or treating then just throw all the candy in the garbage except for a few pieces. If I knew I bought Halloween candy just for people to throw it out I'd be annoyed. Why bother if that's the plan? That could have went to other kids. Is it really that hard not to binge on it?0 -
I was so proud of myself last night. I've just started my weight loss journey, and did not want to put back on the 10 lbs I've lost so far. But, I was so busy finishing yesterday, that I had a really small lunch and dinner. I didn't eat any candy till I got home and could see what my calorie count was. I had room to eat a couple of pieces and so I enjoyed them!
I'm doing so much better at losing this weight because I don't feel deprived, I just have to make wise choices and I can allow some treats.0 -
I had 2 snack size Kit Kat bars
delicious.0 -
Totaled everything up this morning... My liquid 'snacking' (errr drinking), carb loading (mmmm sugary funsize whatsits) and protein maintenance (looking at you, potluck zombie with a crockpot of delectable homemade Swedish meatballs) led me to exceed my daily calories by 1010 calories. Simple math, however, demonstrates that over the course of 7 days I still ate on average below my calorie allotment every day of the week. So really, it was nothing! Just a little fun...0

Two hour bike ride in the AM, then spent the whole rest of the day binge watching college football while pretending like no one was home.0
-
Oh man I did pretty bad haha. I don't feel guilty about it though, just getting back on track today. One night of eating sugary sweet stuff puts me off eating anymore for a while, I'm so sick of candy already lol.0
-
It's a day. Doesn't matter.0
-
Way too much of everything, but it's only one day.0
-
Terrible, I haven't eaten a piece of candy, yet. I'm, obviously, sick. Need to fix this oversite ASAP.0

ha!
I went out for Halloween with only 180 calories left in my budget!
once 11:30 rolled around, I opted to use those last calories for two fun sized three muskateer bars.
Ended my night with only 10 calories left, but I did it, dang it!0 -
I indulged some at lunch today. Fortunately I worked today and have a martial arts class this evening, so I could afford a little over the top chocolate consumption. I will probably end the day in the red but I often do. Keeping the net under 2000 (my current goal) might be a bit more tricky. Oh well. It's one day. One delicious day....0

I had a three or four small candies yesterday (still ate at a deficit). The scale showed a loss this morning, rewarding me for my restraint. I am very glad I force myself out to the gym yesterday.0

Went to my parents to avoid trick-or-treaters, and got fed banana pancakes with honey, and several slices of bacon for breakfast, then we made pizzas, and ate them for lunch and supper. I didn't even count my candy intake. Then we had some beers (Prairie Bomb!, New Republic Whipsaw, and Skylight, and Founder's Breakfast Stout). Once night fell, we went back home, and my buddy came over. We killed a barrel aged brown ale from Prairie, then finished off my Whipsaws, Founders, and some Stone IPAs, and another Bomb!, then we started on whiskey, with Balcones Baby Blue, and Rumble, an Edradour 8 year single cask, Tullamore Dew 10, Garrison Brothers Fall 2013, and Rio Brazos Whistlestop. I was a bit tipsy.
I stopped logging around noon. I remember everything I had (aside from the candy), I'm just not concerned about it. Just back to business as usual today.0 -
I'm not sure how I did on Halloween. I dont actually celebrate it, but I had a full sized Snickers because I wanted one, and some of the candy my aunt brought home - a Smarties, two Airheads. I had a banana for breakfast, part of a soda, a pb and j sandwich in noon, and then I had a piece of fried fish, rice and cabbage for dinner. I dont know how many calories were in the food I had for dinner, so I'm not sure if I was within 1300 calories. I did try, though. Oh, well, next time I'll skip the candy and soda like I've been trying to do.0

Between Saturday and Sunday I ate chicken liver wrapped in pancetta with onions and balsamic reduction, braised rabbit with prosciutto and polenta crostini, probably a half loaf of bread, almost a bottle of wine, whiskey, tostito chips with queso sauce, a huge freshly made bagel with turkey bacon cream cheese, a chipotle chicken sandwich, about 2000 calories in slutty brownies (cookie dough, oreo, brownie with reese's pieces, covered in chocolate frosting), and more chips and queso. And some frosting off of a spoon.
I think I'm done now. There are more slutty brownies in the fridge though.
ETA: This was for my birthday though, not halloween. I don't really do halloween candy. I don't have kids and people don't trick or treat in my neighborhood because it's...not nice.0 -

I LOVE candy!! It's a big weakness for me, that's for sure. But, 75 pounds down now and I'm not going to let my love of candy stop me. I had a few pieces last night but it fit into my calories for the day. I had a few pieces today as well. I got creative and chopped up a couple mini candy bars and mixed them into my greek yogurt... that was amazing and gave me some extra protein.
I admit, I bought 3 bags of clearance candy at Target today!! The best part though is knowing that those 3 bags of candy will last me a really long time, compared to in the past when I would have them all gone within days. I do pretty well with eating in moderation now so I'm not worried.0 -

I live in Brooklyn...under an expressway on an industrial street, next to a mannequin warehouse. Most of the kids in the city trick or treat at the convenient stores and what not.0 -

Glad to know I'm not the only one who snagged some discounted candy today. Ended up spending $40 on candy that has been added to my pile of junk food that I barely even touch.0 -
I have been so busy that I didn't come into contact with any candy, but I would have had a piece or two if I had. Which reminds me.....I have some calories left over for today and some candy in the fridge. See ya later!0

OMG you reminded me I have had this saved for a while! Thank you for the opportunity to use it!!!!
Omg. That could be my kitty.
I managed to stay at maintenance today.
My Estelle looked just like you kitty.....she passed when she was about 16. She was sooooo sweet.0 -

I did a 5K on Friday night - they encouraged costumes, so I went as a zombie hunter. It was on a golf course, at night, in the rain. My worst 5K time ever, and I did not survive the zombies. But it was still fun.
On Sat., I did a zombie trail run 5K... as a "chaser zombie." This event was done in a way such that runners were sent out in groups every 10-15 minutes and chasers were sent out after them after giving the runners a head start. There were also "stumbler zombies" hiding along the course. Here is a photo of that, without the zombie make-up. This was not timed... it was just for fun.

I definitely went a little overboard because first I had too much to drink on Friday... And then on Sat I went to my friend's party, where I did snack mindfully BUT I still went over my calories by a million. But I logged it to the best of my abilities and I'll try sticking to my calories better for the next 6-7 days.0

I had a great halloween with my family!
We tend to 'go big' for halloween - and that includes food. I ate around 1200 calories OVER my maintenance and I regret nothing. I cut back yesterday and will cut a little more today to balance things out but ultimately, I loved it!0 -
Under my calories and not a bit of chocolate or sweets passed my lips - I don't celebrate Halloween, it's just 31st October to me.0
-
I had a Shocker lots of chocolate plus MacDonalds0
