I love accents from all parts of England.
I'm not big on Scottish accents, though, because I have a heard time understanding them.

I have a southern accent myself.

    Aussie/Kiwi.....melt!

Maine....melt (hubby snagged me with his)

Jersey / NY.....argh (sorry guys....I have LOTS of friends from there, so I've learned to appreciate it...but it's still like nails on a chalk-board to this Southerner)

 It's so different, particularly after alcohol consumption, that it may as well be the Norse it originated from!

I have a strange variation on the London/Estuary accent; I picked up a lot of Northern sayings and pronunciation as a kid, plus my Dad was a Scot and my Mum is quite posh. It means I'm generally incomprehensible to everybody at some point, especially as I get more Northern when I'm with mates who are from up there.

Makes speaking in foreign languages entertaining; never seen such a look of understanding combined with despair as when I waltzed up to the Maitre d' outside a nice Paris restaurant and asked (in reasonable French but with my usual accent) where a particular pub was.
