I wear a medium in most tops, some large. For jeans, I'm just in a 10 and they are pretty snug. I really need to lose another 3-5 lbs for them to fit properly. I could probably wear an 8 if it wasn't for belly fat as my legs and hips are fairly slim.

65 years old.........5'7", 160 lbs size M in most tops and a 10 in bottoms. I'm not little, never have been.....LOL. Sometimes I still wear a L in tops, especially workout tops, because I'd rather have them a little loose!

This is really interesting . . . I haven't really taken my measurements lately!!

    5'2" 154
    33 / 27.5 / 40
Size 4, tops 2 or 4 the last pair of jeans I bought were a 2 and pants 4 - brands do vary greatly.

How do you fit in a size 4? Just curious because you're only a few inches taller than me and I weigh 128 lbs and fit size 8/9?

See what puzzled me about this one was that a hip measurement of 40" would put someone in a 12 in most brands, and by the standard as well.

I have a 40 waist and fit an 8 or 10. My waist is 27" so I go down so the waist doesbt gape as much. It's tighter, but better than having 5 extra inches in the waist. I really should learn how to tailor *sigh*

I'm surprised that even here on MFP we're having a side discussion about whether someone really fits in that tiny (presumably desirable?) a size. C'mon.

Might be a typo, might be the cut/country/size/brand, might be liking a fit where you have to lie on the floor and zip the suckers with pliers (something I used to do as a teenager), who knows. Who cares?

    Pants -size 8
    Top -size medium
I have been on maintenance for around a month.
I don't have a grasp on my new size yet..I always pick out clothes that are too big.

    5'4 and 123lbs
    Pants: 4-6
Shirts: XS or S (depending on fit)
Maintaining for about 6 months so far.

People forget that some retailers use extreme vanity sizing and you might fit into a 2 at the store but can't squeeze into a 2 in a different store (ie. Old Navy). I'm a size 2 in ON jeans but a size 6 in American Eagle jeggings but across the board I'm always either a 4 or a 6. I could say I'm a 2 but I would just be kidding myself.

Even standard sizing is confusing with the straight & curvy variation. Women's clothing likely needs even more variation due to the variations in our bodies.

I hate the charts that assume a BIGGER absolute difference between waist and hip at smaller sizes, like this one, when generally leaner women have more subtle curves. It's unlikely that someone with a 35" hip will have waist of 25", and not so unlikely to have 38"-48", but this chart goes in the opposite direction.

    I'm 5' 6" and currently 152lbs and pear shaped.
I've had to convert UK sizes to american, but if I've done it correctly, I'm size 10/12 trousers and small/medium t-shirts. Which is a pain for buying dresses, but I tend to go with size 10 dress, depending ;)

My body fat percentage is in the region of 27.5% but this was just taken from my measurements and calculated using an online calculator.

I'm 5'9" and those are my ideal measurements but I'd have to be 130lb to have them, I think. And implants, LOL, but the bust doesn't matter to me, I want the 28-36 on the bottom!

5'7" 177lbs. I wear large shirts, 16 bottoms or 1X skirts. Dresses are tricky because my top is too small for the size dress I need. Once you get to 14 and 16 dresses they think you have giant boobs to match, which I don't. So I try to stick with skirts.

5'9" athletic build, narrow hips, wide shoulders.

Weight and sizes over the past 12 years:
    At 160-170lb I am a US size 8/10
    At 155-160lb I am a US size 6/8
    At 150-155lb I am a US size 4/6
    At 135-145lb I am a US size 2/4
    At 126-135lb I am a US size 0/2

Those first three sizes are me exactly on the bottom and I'm 5'8 with an athletic build as well. Are those your sizes on the top And bottom?? I can wear sleeveless/tank tops in those sizes as my midsection is somewhat small (27 inches) but with my 12 inch arms (although "toned") I can't fit into anything lower than an 8/10. I'm down to 152 now.. I figure ten more pounds will get me there. :)

I wear a s or xs in tops. Yesterday, I purchased a US size 2/26 jean. My weight today is 151.5 lb (10.8 stone) and my measurements today are 31" chest, 33.5" bust, 27.5" waist, 36" hip.

I'm not sure where my response went, but we are nearly identical in measurements and I'm 149 lbs exactly today and 5'8... Scale will drop a bit more as I'm bloated...however I'm still at size medium shirts and I'm a 4-6 on the bottom. Relaxed fit pants size 6, tight pants size 4. I need one more 1" to 1.5" off my arms to stop this downward weight trend.. I do lift weights but will lift heavier to bulk when I'm at the weight and body fat I want to be...
