I'm having a very bad day. I wish I could cheer up. I wish I could laugh. It never rains but it pours.
Sorry. Adding my ((hug)) to atesar's. Chin up and take care of yourself.

Katla: So sorry about your wrist injury. My worse fear is slipping on ice. You are so determined, I'm sure you'll find a way to saddle up this Saturday.

Vicki: I will send you a private message with more info about being my remote reiki partner.

It's late so have to make this short. Welcome to all the new ladies joining us. I hope you'll keep coming back. You'll find this a great 'home', and by this time next year, YOU will be welcoming the 2017 class.

I was recently thinking to how many of you I’ve had the pleasure to meet in person. Such an awesome privilege, and I hope to add more MFP meet ups in the coming year. My business trips start again next week. This month I’ll be in Westchester County, NY, El Paso, Texas and NYC and Central New Jersey. If you are near any of these towns and want to meet up, let me know. Likewise, if you are travelling to the Denver area, let me know.

Good news: I have to get my driver’s license renewed, and noticed today that the weight I put down last time is 23 pounds more than where I am today. I know I fudged that number big time because I didn't own a scale at that time and only weighed once a year at the doctors office.

Bad news: I am having mega-issues with the password to unlock my work email. I’ll be on the phone with the help desk bright and early tomorrow. Ugh.

Good news#2: I found an app called “Gratitude Journal”. Just a few days of journaling and my mood is much better. :)

Stay well. We can do this.

    Rori
    Colorado Foothills

    January Goals:
    > Benchmark my average daily step count, and increase by 20%
    > Eat mindfully
    > Start a gratitude journal
    > Reach out to 3 friends
    > Get mammogram, physical, haircut and eye exam scheduled
    My word for 2016: Optimism

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .

    Good Evening Ladies,

Mia, fantastic job of decluttering and what a wonderful way to throw a party. Good for you!!

CarolGA, my exercise consists of very little cardio. I mostly do stretching type things and light weights also. That is one reason I decided to do my two 5 minute moving activities. Just to mix it up a little. (actually very little)

Linda, good for you in walking away from the kitchen when you really “wanted” something sweet.

Sylvia, so sorry your plans were interrupted. Do you think if your son went in the hospital that he wouldn’t get out or is that just a worry he has? Keeping you and whole family in my prayers. ((((Hugs))))

Kay, I’m so proud of you for going to the gym. It sounds wonderful. I’m just trying to picture you “flailing around while everybody else did Pilates”. Lol

Lisa, well said on the work outs.

Miriam, the girls are so cute!!! Thanks for sharing.

m1277.gifto all the Newbies. This is a wonderful place for support and information. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
Good idea, I didn't think about signing my first post earlier today.

Did a segment of the Butt Lift DVD I have, held my plank for 2 min 47 seconds (one more second that before), then the extremepump class.

Linda - good for your sister, bad for your BIL

Katla - I can't see why you can't ride with a cast on your wrist. Now if it was a full arm cast, that might be a different story.

Carol in NC - saw that post about the jeans, too and thought it so cute

Lenora - Vince has a loaded gun in a safe by his bedside. All the other guns are locked away in the big safe

Welcome everyone new! This is a great place

    lemonhead - happy birthday!

Heather - how wonderful that you've kept your commitment to your alcohol. Personally, I'm not much of a drinker. That is, UNLESS it is real real sweet wine. Even then, I'm just not much of a drinker. I probably should have some red wine every night for my, is it the LDL or the HDL -- one of them. But I just don't have any desire for it. So sorry for your aches

trublutopaz -- if you fell asleep, you body probably really needed it

Kim - all's I can say is that there are lots of things that happen in Season 6 of DA. Still haven't seen the last episode, tho. The gal hasn't gotten it yet from her son.

Joyce - how sweet about those girls

Allison - I made a mess in the kitchen yesterday. I made these cauliflower bread sticks, and when you cut up cauliflower you know how messy it can be. Well, Vince is one of these people who believes everything should be real clean and he commented (repeatedly) about how the floor was a mess and questioned if I should be walking on the rug, am I grinding it down into the rug etc. I finally said to him "I'll vacuum it when I can, but if you'd like to vacuum it in the meantime, that's fine". He went to the other garage. Good for you getting thru to Tom!

MaryGrace - boy, you sure have had a lot going on. So good that you have a handle on it.

Lisa - I never knew your workout. Very interesting! What is a "rolling stair stepper"?

After exercising went to the Salvation Army then home then senior bowling. After bowling we stopped at CVS since I needed vitamins and they were on sale BOGO, plus I had a $1 off coupon plus I got another $2 coupon from CVS, also got soup to donate. Tonight I go to a friend to pick up some parsley from her, then ceramics, then mahjongg. Update: she's having a bad day so I'll pick up the parsley on Wednesday. I think she's getting depressed.

The lady hosting mahjongg tonight made this "Russian Tea". It's basically tea with sugar and fruit juices, some cinnamon and cloves. I thought it was too much on the sweet side.

Denise called the other day, said that she thinks she found the place where she'd like to have the reception. She talked to Vince since she called his cell phone. From what he told me, she's looking at October of 2017. Yet, yesterday she was telling me how Pete's mother has ALREADY picked out her dress. A year and a half before the wedding?

Got very cold here today. I wore a coat. After dinner I left to go to ceramics (since then I leave to go to mahjongg and Vince usually stays). On my way there Vince called to say that he had severe diarrhea. It just came on, so he wouldn't be going to ceramics.

The plan for exercise tomorrow is to do some HIIT and then I volunteer at the Green Room.

Sylvia - you made me smile at the haircut comment

DJ - good plan to get exercise in

Carol/Peach - many times I really like having tuna. But our cats will not eat the tuna juice. Now give them salmon juice and watch them fight for it!

Barbi - the best advice I can give you is to LOG, LOG, LOG. Welcome!

tattytrue - what kind of exercise do you do? I'm always on the lookout for something diffferent

miriam - so glad there are no serious injuries, but so sorry you feel just the same

pip - how rude of your work!!!!

Sylvia - you are a true blessing to your son and his children

Melanie - I'm with you, I wouldn't want to be a 25year old again, either.

Alison - good for you choosing those carrots

    Becca - feel better fast

NJ Linda - I'm originally from NJ. What part are you from?

NC Carol - good for you submitting your application. It's bitter sweet to leave PT, like you said, you're leaving your friends. But on the other hand, it's showing that you're getting stronger. We didn't have snow today. It was very cold, but that was all. I always prefer bone-in chicken breasts, I think they are a bit juicier.

trublutopaz - so sorry you're having a bad day. Tomorrow will be better.

Rori - do you need another partner? I think Reiki is so interesting

Rori, last year when I had my driver's license renewed, they couldn't understand why I wanted to come in and get a new picture taken. Well old picture was me at 233 pounds and new picture was 178 pounds, what's the problem! I sure wish I was still at that 178 pounds.

I am afraid to weigh myself but I have my annual physical Thursday so I guess I have no choice. There it is, in the raw. I only have a few health issues to ask him about otherwise I think I am stable. Maybe I should ask him about his weight gain.

Mary Grace, I looked up Murphysboro in comparison to where I am in Evansville. I am in extreme southern also, Kentucky right below us and Illinois right beside us and the Ohio river separating the three states.

Called the eye specialist again today and got my eval for my left eye scheduled. They again had no referral for my right eye so I called that office and asked. They said they didn't send any because he didn't see anything wrong with it!!!!!!! :s I told them what I remember of our conversation about the vitreoul detachment. So the owner of the clinic called the doctor who did my exam and he said he did talk to me about detachment but only before the exam as an explanation of what it might be. He says my vision is 20/25. So why do I have my font on my screen at 150% right now???? So my exam with the specialist is Feb 3rd and it is his practice to dilate both eyes and examine both of them. I will also mention it to my own family doctor.

I also got my husbands phone straightened out today. The SIM card of the old one is expired so they will send me a new one and when it gets here I am to call them and have them transfer the minutes from the new phone back to the old one and get a new phone number in my daughter's area. I guess I will mail it to her but it is pretty light. I was kind of afraid to talk to her about it at Christmas since I hate confrontations but her sister had let her know how unhappy I was. Then I told Christina a big reason was that I wanted her to have a phone that actually rang because of all her Dad's health problems. tonight he was weak enough it took both of his arms to get himself off the couch. He just feels bad overall. He also has an appointment this week with one of the cardiologist that handles the irregular rhythm.

Sylvia, what is your take on your son's health. Does he really seem ill enough that this time in the hospital he might not go home? A mother;s instinct is pretty good.

Allison, I am so proud of the both of you. As you were describing the two of you working in the kitchen together, it sounded like progress and then what he said. I hope he will accept counseling. I think you are kind of like me in how we feel about marriage. I am glad I stuck it out and my daughters are to. I don't know how I would feel if my grand daughters didn't know their grandpa if we had ever divorced like it was on my mind so many times.

I think Charlie ate the last of any food that was leftover from this weekend that would be bad for me. Well there is still a good bit of the ham left and I know it is high in sodium. I really need to freeze some of that so he doesn't eat it as snacks. I had a nice small turkey breast meat sandwich for lunch today. YUM.

I have been looking to see what I could use as the first area to declutter. I cleaned the living room and family room and my bedroom before our family was here last weekend but I usually declutter and then move the declutter into the office and the piles get higher. I guess I just found what area needs to be the first room.

This made me laugh. I had not gotten a new DL since my 125# loss. I had not been asked for ID in ages, while shopping a young cashier asked for ID. She looked at it, looked up at me and asked "is this you?" I did the happy dance all the way to my car. Congrats! Great NSV, thanks for sharing.

Great news, found out this morning that t he RV "resort" (that cracks me up) has water aerobic classes every morning at 9:00 am. Unfortunately, it rained most of the day and it's going to continue thru Friday. Maybe my nasty cold will be gone by then.

Good night ladies. Love and hugs to all.

Michele in NC, I live near Atlantic City, was born in western NY, currently in last week of visit to Denver.

Everyone, I'm glad to see all the support in this group.

I started MFP 16 mos ago, picked the slowest rate to lose, to avoid the rebellion effect, and started using Youtube for zumba workouts. July 2015 i started the 30 day Beginning Weight Lifting that popped up in the daily blogs. Ive been gradually adding exercises and increased from 3lb to 10lb dumbbells since then. Expected to lose 10 lb, hoped to lose 20, and really lost 30. Now aiming to be healthy and strong. Faithful logging really shows me the impact of my food choices. Come Tax season, I'll have to start skimming the posts, I'll be even less visible. This forum begins and ends my day. I'm rooting for all of you. :-D

Hi - I'm new to MFP and I just found this forum. Wow, what a friendly, active, supportive group!

I'm Rosie, and I'm 56 years old. I recently retired, and DH (who is also retired) & I moved a few months ago to the greater Sacramento CA area.

I joined MFP because my weight has been creeping up and my jeans are getting entirely too snug.

I just want to say hi for now, I'll chime in more once I read thru the posts and get the lay of the land here.

    Cheers, - Rosie wavesmile.gif

Morning everyone, had a good 90minute walk last night really enjoyed it. I am aiming to go out every evening either on my own or with my husband which is better. I definitely want to move more to shift this weight that is getting me down. Does anyone else have any ideas of getting rid of my spare tyre (fat around my waist)? Any exercise ideas? (my back sometimes is not good, I need to strengthen my muscles but not sure what to do). A lot of you talk about strength training - any suggestions on what I should try?

    Best wishes to everyone.

elaine mornin' i have a lot of weight around my belly, and ab cruches are no fun...there are plenty of women doing great exercise routines here . Here is what works for me,
Variety on top of routine..when i have no imagination or will to exercise, i always do basic cardio that is walking, jogging, elliptical machine and the like, it totally lifts my mood. Now the real progress happens when i add a free youtube clip of pilates, classical stretch or kettlebells. I know that i am going to add strength training someday!!!! Too intimidated to start that but with the cardio comittment i have improved my b.p. to gwt off the meds and improved my anxiety to stay off the meds! I call that a win.
Like i said there are a lot of women with exercise routines on this forum so keep reading and just keep trying.
rori when will u be in westchester?

In this little thread are people you can count on, people that can motivate you, and people you can trust. Me, oh I am just the weird one. They keep me on for sh!ts, and giggles truly! You know that place that rains, but not as much as Washingtonians, but we use it as a marketing tool.

Referring to Oregon’s tourist industry in a 1971 speech, McCall may have first publicly voiced his famous “Come visit, don’t stay” slogan: “I urge them to come and come many, many times to enjoy the beauty of Oregon. But I also ask them, for heaven’s sake, don’t move here to live.”
hahaha found that funny. We Oregonians are a weird lot.

    You are funny!!! Thank you.

Happy new year to all. I ran across this group today, and thought I'd introduce myself. I am not one to make resolutions but do goal set. I'm 51 (soon to be 52) and live in Northern Alberta, Canada. I loved to learn fitness years ago, but find it a moving target, and constantly evolving for me. I am a reformed cardio bunny who found weight lifting & loved it. It is now my mainstay. An injury in April set me back, and after months off, am getting back to my routine. So my goals thus far are:

    1. Consistently strive for 3 weight workouts per week, with optional day of cardio.
    2. Log daily to track my macros
    3. Learn to find balance between work & play.

That's about all for now. I don't always have time to check these forums regularly but will try to keep up. Look forward to meeting all of you.

    Cindy from Alberta

Welcome Cindy, good goals. I am trying to get weight lifting into my routines. I have a few Leslie Sansone DVD's and she uses weights in some of them. My latest is "Tone Every Zone". Silly me... I did both upper and lower body in one session, only used 2 lb weights but next day and today feeling a little stressed in some areas.... ha ha not as tough as I thought I was. :)

Lillian in West Central Saskatchewan..... just next door to you.

Michele in NC – the rolling stairstepper is a machine where you aren’t pushing down on pedals with your feet, but literally walking up a set of stairs that moves, much like an escalator. You can set the speed, and set resistance, so it pushes back against you pushing down onto the stair with each step. Since I mentioned it on here, I got back on it again yesterday, and made it through six minutes… :) Tells you how tough I find it.

Katla – I have such admiration for those who can relearn any movement left-handed. Literally the only thing I do competently with my left hand is work that side of a keyboard. If I put a pencil or a ball in my left hand and attempt to use it, my whole brain gives up and walks away, shaking its head. Good wishes for all kinds of luck on your Wednesday visit to the doc…hope you're riding again on Saturday.

Carol in NC – so pleased you’re reaching out for different and hopefully better work! Hope it all works out well.

Jennifer in FL – I lived in the UK for two different military tours, as well – one at Lakenheath RAFB in Sussex, and one at Greenham Common RAFB, near Newbury, before they closed it permanently under the INF Treaty. We’ve got a few UK residents on here as well as Heather, I love “listening” to how they talk, brings good memories for me, as well.

Trublutopaz – hope today is better.

    SanfordRobert – Love your stuff!

Blew a breaker this morning as soon as I turned on my little coffeepot, as I had two heaters plugged in and running, as well. It’s a little chilly this morning… And, of course, when I went outside to flip the breaker back on, it was raining. Gah. Really need to get an electrician in to rewire this whole place… but, that’s going to wait awhile, along with everything else. Still have my cowboy boots on with my pajamas, looks just incredibly fascinating and stylish, you know. Actually, I’ve met bag ladies who look better.

Slept more than seven hours last night! Am sleeping better and better at the warehouse, which is kind of awesome. But because I am by nature a worrywart, it also makes me wonder if my husband and I will grow further apart if I spend more time in town… beyond the physically further apart, I mean. He laughed at me when I mentioned it… I usually have a “WoW” (worry of the week) that makes him snortle. My best friend of 30+ years and I decided long ago that the world keeps spinning on its axis only because we worry.

Don't miss being on vacation-it was exactly long enough to make me glad to get back. Sure will miss being able to exercise when I want and do what I want when I want to if I do end up finding a management job. *sigh* The realities of life. Retirement's still a ways off for me. We just need me working for a few more years.

Anyway, off to the races this morning... Going to go to the gym and shower in a bit, so I look presentable. Wish me luck. :hushed:

Lisa in wet, rainy, cold West Texas... but sunny and 60s the rest of the week
