Debatable, some trainer workouts are more equal than others. And, what happens to the miles when your computer messes up?
Is it me or does the wattage from Zwift (Computrainer and others also at times) looks low on the magnitude of 20-30+ watts? Flat, no wind, and open road at 20mph I'm around 220-230w but I'm seeing 24mph+ posted from Zwift rides at the same or lower wattage. And much more suspect when the slope increases. Don't know my Cd but it's not that bad (5'8" & ~165#) and COF of my 28s are not that much more than 23/5s. Does the algorithm correct for drafting? In the field I'm using Stages but on trainer I'm using KK VP (way to much flack from the better half as the bike move in and out of the house). In the first few weeks I was adjusting KK VP wattage down (reflected in my Golden Cheetah log but not on Strava) as I was getting into the groove but now my power output has stabilized, I'm getting close enough match in effort. Just wondering.0 -

Zwift wattage is correct, assuming the rider has PM or smart trainer, as Zwift gets it's power data from those. However, zwift is definitely fast. It assumes you are extremely slippery. On flat roads here in CO I've done 21-22 mph average speed of 220w average, but on zwift that number can be 22-24mph on courses that are noticeably hillier.
Of course, idealized descents and other such factors also help.
As for speeds between riders, there is definitely drafting on zwift so that can make a significant impact if they are riding in a good, quick group. The other possibility is that the rider is very small/light (or weight doping) and thus has a very high w/kg, which obviously helps significantly on the climbs.0 -
