Why do you hate Dr. Oz?

I rather like the show. It's entertaining. It gives me ideas on what to eat. Recipes. It reminds me to be healthy. I learned things like I need more magnesium in my diet. Yoga poses.
For real information I read books or trusted sites off the internet.
I don't think Dr. Oz is really a quack. I think he really cares about people's health. Wish more shows like that would be on TV (they are needed).
What did he do or say that made you not like him? If people criticize him too much, no more health shows will ever come in the future. A lot better than MSNBC.

I don't hate Dr. Oz. I very much dislike that he leverages his position as a doctor to shill a bunch of stuff that has nothing to do with weight loss, and has no scientific proof behind it. As can be seen in the first response to you, yes, he advocates a lot of quackery, and does so with the authority of this credentials as a doctor behind it. That is wrong.0
-
He uses the Doctor of his name to peddle pure *kitten* to the unsuspecting.0
-
That was years ago, wasn't it? Years and years ago. I don't think I even remember his show ever selling products. Does he still sell stuff?0
-
He used his title of Doctor to line his own pockets. He has admitted that there is no scientific proof supporting many, if not most or all, of the products he peddles as the next miracle. He got rich from capitalising on vulnerability and desperation. He's actually fairly despicable.0

Even with all of that reality about Oz, I don't hate him. I do not watch him and his track record illustrates that the advice given on his show should not be taken seriously ... but hate is not an emotion linked to him or the drivel he pushes through televisions.

He was pressed to appear before congress in 2014. It wasn't that long ago. Has his business model changed dramatically since then?0 -
I dislike Dr. Mercola even more than Dr. Oz...but that's a whole other topic.
While most of his advice may not be harmful, persay, much of it is annecdotal or pseudoscience. Unfortunately, many people take what he says as sage advice instead of using critical thinking and actual scientific research. He capitalizes on that gullibility.0 -
Because, while he's a great cardiac surgeon, he peddles diet woo to people, betting on their stupidity.0
-
He's not interested enough in peoples' health to say "no" to the big fat paychecks he gets for peddling woo. That's why I dislike him.
Also because my mother in law is constantly telling me "Dr. Oz said"...
I really really dislike him.0 -

And this.
He was apparently at one point a very good cardiothoracic surgeon. Then he got dollar signs in his eyes and basically became a prostitute for woo, endorsing anything and everything that would make money for him even though he knew the products were garbage and would do nothing for anybody. He capitalized on his popularity through being promoted by Oprah Winfrey and misused his credentials as a doctor purely for personal gain. He didn't do it because he cares about anybody's health, because the products he was endorsing do nothing to improve anybody's health. They're snake oil, and he knew that.
When you're called before a U.S. Senate panel and censured for your actions on television, you can be pretty sure you're on the wrong track. I agree that he's despicable.0 -
Peddling woo? What does he peddle? I have not seen him selling anything.
The show also has guests like Dr. Weil, Dr. Rosen, and Dr. Furhman. And I learn a bit from them.
In the past two years, I know he has not try to sell anything. (as long as I have been watching).0 -

Peddling woo. as in spreading misinformation. not necessarily selling anything.0 -
Dr. Oz's great sugar detox, right from his website: doctoroz.com/feature/dr-oz-s-great-sugar-detox0 -

Be sure you watch the show on Thursday. "Dr. Oz Investigates Deadly Window Blinds: The Video Every Family Should See"0 -
I don't hate him. I just think the stuff has to sell and advice is crap.0
-
From his site "The Day Off Diet: See the Flat Belly Foods you can Indulge in" = woo.0
-
What does he sell? @CooCooPuff0
-
@JanetYellen why do you ignore his own admissions in front of Congress?0
-
Congress? This was many, many years ago. I have been watching for 2 years. Never seen him selling.0

You mean 2014? Are you a cat? 7 of your years to one human year?0 -

That was two years ago. You have an interesting definition of "many, many years".0 -

He doesn't "sell" the products himself - but he gets paid handsomely to endorse them on his show. He peddles the woo that they're effective and will "melt the fat right off your body", etc. when he knows it's all lies and that none of the derp he's spouting is supported by science. He admitted as much in front of the Senate Panel.
Furhman is another quack woo merchant. Not surprising that he's a Dr. Oz guest and his books are endorsed by the great Mehmet. Another crackpot pseudoscientist with books and products to sell. Here's an article which discusses his dietary approaches, and it's pretty easy to see that he's "out there" on much of what he believes.0 -
I was in the checkout line today and found his face on a 'publication' saying you could lose 14lb in 5 days with his fat blasting diet. Attention grabbing, load of crap. So no, he is still adding to all the misinformation that keeps people confused and spending money to support the diet industry.0

His website is currently peddling "10lbs in 10 days!"0 -
I figured he had a year "heads up" before meeting in front of congress. Anyway, it's in the past. He stopped, right?0
-
Janet, why do you like this guy so much?0
