After multiple deaths veganism is "not ethical to impose on children".
Parents who raise children as vegans should be prosecuted, say Belgian doctors
The Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium published a legal opinion on Thursday, which could influence future court judgments and is the first time a health authority has taken a position on veganism in the country.
The opinion said it was unethical to subject children to the diet because it didn’t include animal proteins and vital amino acids which can help growth and prevent health problems.
...
"This restrictive regime requires ongoing monitoring of children to avoid deficiencies and often irreversible growth delays," the legal opinion said, "It is unsuitable for unborn children, children, teenagers and pregnant and lactating women."
"It is not medically recommended and even forbidden to subject a child, especially during periods of rapid growth, to a potentially destabilising diet, requiring frequent supplementation and control,” it said.

Oh my. This has been quite a week for me reading about the demise of feathered friends. The week began reading about the masecration and or gassing of billions of male chicks in the egg industry (since they are deemed useless).0

I hope they're at least used for feed or fertilizer since their death is deliberate - surely they must be? I tried to google to see what they do with the culled chicks but all of the results I saw were - understandably - focused on the process.0

Re: Effect of a Very Low-Protein Diet on Outcomes: Long-term Follow-up of the Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD) Study
Conclusion: A very low-protein diet (0.28 g/kg/d) did not delay progression to kidney failure, but appeared to increase the risk of death.0 -

Conclusions LSSS significantly decreased systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure (DBP). There was no effect for detected hypertension, overall mortality and intermediate outcomes.0 -

Dietary carbohydrate restriction improves metabolic syndrome independent of weight loss
RESULTS. Despite maintaining body mass, low-carbohydrate (LC) intake enhanced fat oxidation and was more effective in reversing MetS, especially high triglycerides, low HDL-C, and the small LDL subclass phenotype. Carbohydrate restriction also improved abnormal fatty acid composition, an emerging MetS feature. Despite containing 2.5 times more saturated fat than the high-carbohydrate diet, an LC diet decreased plasma total saturated fat and palmitoleate and increased arachidonate.

Association of Serum Cholesterol Levels With Peripheral Nerve Damage in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes
Conclusions and Relevance The findings suggest that lowering serum cholesterol levels in patients with T2D and DPN is associated with a higher amount of nerve lesions and declining nerve conduction velocities and amplitudes. These findings may be relevant to emerging therapies that promote an aggressive lowering of serum cholesterol levels in patients with T2D.

Overeating saturated fat promotes fatty liver and ceramides compared to polyunsaturated fat: a randomized trial
Intervention
Muffins high in either palm (SFA)- or sunflower oil (PUFA) were added to the habitual diet.
Results
By design, body weight gain was similar in SFA (2.31±1.38 kg) and PUFA (2.01±1.90 kg) groups, P=0.50. SFA markedly induced liver fat content (50% relative increase) along with liver enzymes and atherogenic serum lipids. In contrast, despite similar weight gain, PUFA did not increase liver fat or liver enzymes or cause any adverse effects on blood lipids.
SFA had no differential effect on the accumulation of visceral fat, pancreas fat or total body fat compared with PUFA. SFA consistently increased, while PUFA reduced circulating ceramides; changes that were moderately associated with liver fat changes and proposed markers of hepatic lipogenesis.
The adverse metabolic effects of SFA were reversed by calorie restriction.

Endogenous Hyperinsulinemia Contributes to Pancreatic Cancer Development
Mice
The incidence of many cancers, including pancreatic cancer, continuesto rise alongside the global obesity and T2D epidemics9. There isalsoincreasing popular interest in the role of dietand lifestyle in cancer risk and prevention strategies. Low carbohydrate diets have been proposed for prevention or as an adjunct to cancer therapy based on evidence that many tumours selectively use glucose as fuel10or based on what has come to be known as the insulin-cancer hypothesis11,12.
Insulin hasmitogenic and anti-apoptotic effects on pancreatic cell cultures in a dosage-dependent manner13and is known to activate signalling pathways implicated in tumourigenesis13,14. However, despite the abundance of clinical evidence of associationbetween insulin andvarious cancer types2-4,15, the insulin-cancer hypothesis has never been formally tested. Link

Supercentenarians and the oldest-old are concentrated into regions with no birth certificates and short lifespans
In the United States, supercentenarian status is predicted by the absence of vital registration. The state-specific introduction of birth certificates is associated with a 69-82% fall in the number of supercentenarian records. In Italy, which has more uniform vital registration, remarkable longevity is instead predicted by low per capita incomes and a short life expectancy.
Finally, the designated ‘blue zones’ of Sardinia, Okinawa, and Ikaria corresponded to regions with low incomes, low literacy, high crime rate and short life expectancy relative to their national average. As such, relative poverty and short lifespan constitute unexpected predictors of centenarian and supercentenarian status, and support a primary role of fraud and error in generating remarkable human age records.

Blindness Caused by a Junk Food Diet - fussy eating 14 yr old, B12 deficient
By age 17, the patient's vision had become progressively worse, to the point of blindness. The physicians investigated the patient's nutrition and found vitamin B12 deficiency, low copper and selenium levels, a high zinc level, and markedly reduced vitamin D level and bone mineral density. The patient confessed that since elementary school, he had avoided foods with certain textures and only ate French fries, Pringles, white bread, processed ham slices, and sausage.

“...And then people jump on it like a herd of lemmings, stampeding towards the cliffs of inanity.”
Burger King's bet on faux meat is paying off as the Impossible Whopper convinces customers to spend more and buy more beef Whoppers
According to Charles, stores are selling roughly 45 Impossible Whoppers per day. Once national advertising launches, Cowen predicts that figure will ramp up to 50 per store per day. Traditional beef Whopper sales have also increased since the Impossible Whopper launched.
The Impossible Whopper is also apparently convincing customers to pay more. According to Cowen, checks with the plant-based burger tend to be $10 or more, compared to the average Burger King order of $7.36 in 2018.
