Good afternoon my lovely Vit F ladies!
Boy, am I tired! Three or four days of being around young children, disrupted sleep almost every night, and being the perfect, sociable hostess have knocked me out!  I have loved all of it, but need a break. Like several others, I need to space out my socialising with a liberal dose of me time.
I have just got back from my arm massage, so feel extra spaced out. I love my massage therapist and she always has some good stories to tell me of her dating exploits. Of course I shared my NAKED SON story! ! !
Will regroup tomorrow and do boring things like make an appointment to have my blood pressure checked again. I can't believe I should be on the same medication I was on 47 lbs heavier and not fit.:noway: I also need to book a hotel in Bath for our girly getaway in October and I may look at a week in a cottage in Dorset for the 2nd week in September. I expect the best places will be booked, but it's worth a look. Dorset is a beautiful county with lots of interesting sights and a lovely coast, but we always seem to be charging past it on the way to Cornwall or Devon. It's not far away, but I think it would be nice to stay there outside the school holidays. Must put my research hat on.
It's been a week now since I got into normal BMI and nothing has changed on the scales, but everyone is noticing. I do feel slimmer than my 150 lbs proclaims. Even got my gymming in this morning while the visitors were sleeping in. I must say I have been feeling extra hungry in the last few days. By the time our guests got here last evening I was feeling quite faint and was about to start on the dinner without them. Gone are the days when I could fill that empty corner with crisps and peanuts!
About to start on dinner now - chunky cod fillets, breaded and baked, with home grown yellow zucchini, garlic and parsley, and celeriac mash.
On the food issue - I do nearly always buy organic meat, chicken and eggs, because I reckon I am eating less of them than I used to and therefore I can spend a bit more and we rarely spend money on eating out. I also feel it is an animal welfare issue - I like the idea of 'happy hens', 'happy pigs' etc. We do also have our own veg and salad, although I still have to buy in. The one thing that does hit my conscience is milk. Dairy cows, on the whole, are appallingly treated, but organic milk is an outrageous price so I don't, I am sorry to say, buy it. I should, I know.
OK ladies, onwards and upwards!

Hi Ladies,
Cooler here, so I spent last few days weeding the waterfall that leads to my koi pond. Looks great, but my back is screaming at me now!
Have my friend's dogs here for two days, so current count is six dogs and five cats. Yup, the circus is in town!
Did 45 minutes of circuit training this morning. My trainer took it a little easier on me today since my back is grumpy. I'm doing lots of back exercises to whip it back into shape.
Went to farmer's market and will have tons of fresh veggies for lunch topped with hummus, yum...
Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Don't know what's going on today but I am dizzy. Since yesterdays blood sugar was OK I thought I would be going back to my once a week. I guess not. After I ate lunch and feeling really dizzy I checked it and it is 143. It's raining cats and dogs outside , glad it's not inside:laugh: So I am not going to the Y. I guess I need to do some kind of exercise with my one dumb bell. It's 3.3 pounds.
It makes me even more dizzy to real so I better close the computer.

Good afternoon,
I don't have a lot of time, I'll try and get back on to finish reading later tonight.
Grandmaille - I make my own decaf green tea and throw in 1/4 of a lemon. I made a huge bottle of it at night and bring it with me to work. It ends up being more then 1/2 my water for the day and it's good for the body. I have an infusion jug at home that I put lemon in too so I have my lemon water. I've never tried hot lemon water though...might have to try that.
I'm doing better today, had another migraine yesterday. Everyone in my family suffers with them. Even my DS & DD get them. Not as bad and as often as I do but they do. When they get one they always thank me
This is week 2 of getting up at 5:45 am and going for my walk before work. At least I'm getting closer to my steps goal for each day.
Sending good thoughts & prayers for those that are suffering. Congrats to all the NSVs.
You ladies are the best!!!

Hi everyone....I am new to mfp, just starting my third week, but have been l really enjoying the community. I am 58..weigh 217...5'4" and really need to find a healther me.
I ride my scooter to work every day and today was great. The weather was great, 71 this morning.
There is a little smoke from the Colochum Tarps fire near Wenatchee and the Mile Marker 28 fire near Goldendale. It has been really dry here in central Washington this year.

Good afternoon from cooler GI NE. It is only 71 this afternoon and calling for rain the next couple daysl I enjoy having the windows open and fresh air. Today was wiegh in day and I lost .4. Was hoping for more, but I keep telling myself I did not gain. I have not been logging my walks as don't want to eat back the calories. Firgure if I don't see them I won't want them.
Jodio- Hope your vacation gets better and you get a chance to enjoy the beach.
Polley- Welcome and you have come to the right group for support and friendship.
Kathy- Great NSV at the pool. I know delling on the past is a hard habit to break. Alot of things I would like to do over and change the outcome. I do alot of talking to God and I am working on letting it go and know that I am in a better place then I was then.
Joyce- Have you called you doctor?? Please take care of yourself. News travels fast on FB. Sometim
es this is good and sometimes not. I like having it so I can keep in touch with family and the kids that live out of state. I have learned not to over react to what I read as they can mean something totally different from what I read.
Paula- Welcome
Sue TX- Hope you are feeling better. One day at a time. and never give up.
Cinday- Good news on the farm front.
Michelle- I understand how you feel about water in the house. Last Dec a pipe in our basement leaked(we had it replaced in Aug) Thank God for insurance. They had a company come in and took out all the carpet and dry everything up. Then they treated for mold and put down new carptet. I learned several years ago to make sure we have replacement insurance and not funkal insurance. So they had to replace it with new carpet of the same grade.
Well hope everyonehas a good evening. Be kind to yourself,
Blessed

Glad the weather has improved for some of you. Today it was 99 when I was on the way home from playing golf. I usually don't play when it's that hot but we had a road trip that I wanted to participate in. Wish we could get some of your rain, Michelle. We've been dealing with feral hogs digging up our back yard. Before the hogs, our yard was the prettiest it had ever been but they have rooted it up so it looks like it's been plowed! DH and I have sat up all night trying to catch them so DH can shoot them. So far he has missed the only time he got a shot. Tomorrow I'm going to Dallas to stay with DGKs for a few days. Be glad to get a good night's sleep.
Thanks for all the good wishes. I think if this round of medicine doesn't cure the UTI it must be something more serious. Keep your fingers crossed for me. : )
Jodios - sorry the storm hit while you were in Hawaii. I was worried about you. Stay safe.
I don't know about you all but I'm looking forward to August to get myself back in gear.
Have a great evening.

Hi ladies! I have been going back and forth, up and down, log and not log. I decided a couple days ago that I WILL LOG  , drink my water :drinker: and stay VERY close to my goal. I am 58, a Grannie, and I watch my Grandboys, 2 - 3 times a week. I weighed in this morning, but haven't lost any, right now. I WILL. WE CAN DO THIS! :flowerforyou:0

We had beautiful weather last weekend. But my daughter and grand kids are coming this weekend and we were planning on going to an amusement park. So what is the weather predicted.....rain:sad:  Oh well. There is an indoor water park we can go to. It's a little more expensive and it doesn't have the amusement park section like roller coasters and such. So my husband won't have as much fun because he won't have his musical shows but yet I'm not sure he ever has fun anywhere he goes. But he is a generous man and wants to make sure everyone else has a good time, still grumbling but wants us all to have a good time.

What happened to MFP? :noway: Who changed it?
Jane - what a beautiful picture. They are gorgeous.
Have a great night everyone, I'm off to bed early tonight.

Katla - happy birthday to your son! Is this their first house? If so, what about making up a handyman-tool-kit? I'm trying to think of things that Vince uses. Different size sockets and a wrench?
Kathy - way to go on the smaller size bathing suit!
Just got back from WalMart. It's good that they price match so I take all my ads in. Got milk and eggs at a lower price. But I did find out that if you forget to hand them a coupon, you only have one week before they won't honor it.
Heather - your dinner sounds delish! When we left Switerland, there is this dairy farm near the train station. I was amazed that the government would allow it! The cows had very little pasture area. Now I know that land is at a premium over there, but still.....
Joyce in IN - I'm so sorry to hear that you're dizzy. You have me worried. Take care of yourself
Paula - welcome! There must be story behind your name "SwarovskiQueen", please tell us what it is.
Vicki - I'm the same way, if I don't see my exercise calories, I won't eat them. But I know that if I go over somewhat, I have a "buffer". ServPro was here, they left some equipment (blower, dehumidifier, etc). Tomorrow they're supposed to be here at 9 and they'll pull up the carpeting, the padding may have to be replaced. I know that Vince feels so down right now. First we can't get the riverrock, then he's in the hospital in Switzerland (my girlfriend just sent me the bill, it should probably arive in a week or so), dirt got in the pool from that small part we weren't able to riverrock, now the basement. As he said "when will this end?"
Sue in TX - how I wish I could send you our rain! Have fun in Dallas
sunbaby - welcome! You're doing the right thing by logging. It may take longer, but you're so right, it WILL happen
Joyce - have fun this weekend. That's sweet that your husband wants everyone to be having a good time.
Sandy - I thought it was just me who saw the changes in MFP, glad to know it isn't just me.
Michele in NC0 -
:flowerforyou: Where did my day go? It was fun.   Time for one more dog walk and then to bed.
:flowerforyou: This is a reminder that there will be a new thread for August. I will post it at my bedtime (early evening July 31) and put a link here so you can find it………be thinking about how you did on your goals and resolutions for July and start planning some new ones for August (or use the old ones if they were good or need another month).

I am feeling much better tonight. I have no idea why my body goes through these swings.
Yes, my husband loves to provide a nice vacation for everyone but he is very regimented. Like when we went to Gatlinburgh for spring break. All those places to eat down there where we would never go to around here. And we go to Texas Roadhouse, Subway, and places like that. We go to Texas roadhouse once a week and would go more often if I would say yes. We paid for the whole family to go to Disney World but it was the same there. If he doesn't like the looks of a place we do't go in, or we don't shop. It kind of makes people feel guilty that they are wanting to do what they want to do, including me. I have suggested that we allow the other families to have a night out by themselves, but we came together, we eat together. GRRRRR.Disney World was 2 years ago and the little one was 4. So sometimes they used the excuse that she needed to go back to the hotel and get to bed and he is very protective about me and my MS and we would go back so I could get to bed early. As far as this park this weekend, he will let us all know at the end of the day that we didn't want to go to the music shows instead of the thrill rides. He was a VERY controlling Dad when our girls were young. I thin he wold have watched them walk across the street to middle school if I didn't convince him that he eventually needs to let them go. Our job at some point is to help pick them up if something fails instead of preventing the failure. He sees now that he had more than the usual problems when they were growing up and he tries to make it up by being so generous now. But he still loves to excert his control. But we brought up two very headstrong girls and they know how to stand up to him when needed. Our ex son in law craved parenteral attention so much he put up with it. Both his parents were drunks, abused the kids terribly, his Mom ran over his Dad with a car and killed him so the kids were orphans during his teen years. Those years are usually the ones where kids are rebellious so it was hard for him in foster homes so he was put in group homes and eventually he found a loving, nurturing one. Actually he had two group homes he loved. When my daughter and him got married he wanted me to somehow work it out in the wedding that his two 'Moms' and I would light their unity candle as 'his' Moms but I convinced him that at that time I am my daughters Mom. When they got divorced it was hard on me. I felt my daughters betrayal on his cheating on her several times but I also lost a 'son'. I know eventually I will contact him, he is on face book. But my daughter has to be aware of it and approve it. I'm not asking for a relationship but just occasionally say hi and actually make comments on his face book page on his children. My my, I wasn't planning on writing all this but sometimes I miss him. He loved my Mom so much, He called her Grandma.
I guess I've done enough damage to my emotions tonight I should shut up., Joyce0 -
Hello everyone,
I guess this will be my last July post. I can't believe it is going to be August, summer is half over (or seeing I am a half full kind of gal, we still have half of summer to go).
I set my goal for 4500 steps today and surpassed it easily so i guess I will set it for 6000 tomorrow and work up every day that I can.
My daughter arrives for a 2 week visit on Saturday. Then I have to put her on a plane for Toronto and I won't see her again until maybe Christmas. Boy, I am having trouble being that optimistic person tonight - hmmmm.
Michele - I keep forgetting to tell you about the stroopwaffle. It's a Dutch cookie, two crispy waffery waffly things with a thin layer of something that tastes like caramel in between. They are gorgeous when they first come off the iron, but they're almost indestructible and keep very well. I got hooked on them when I visited my daughter in the Netherlands last February and lo and behold, there is an old Dutchman that sells them at our local farmers market (for a freaking fortune too!).
Today I finally had my fridge delivered, and it was not a pretty story. They had to take the doors off (old house) and they broke my trim around the doorway and gouged my drywall (thank goodness taking out the old one, not damaging the new one). Then they tried to charge me more than Sears said it would be but they backed off pretty quickly when I picked up the phone to call Sears. Bad service all around this time. I doubt if I will deal with Sears Canada again. And they used to be so GOOD.
It took me awhile to figure out where to put everything and the freezer doesn't hold as much as my old one so I ended up throwing out the last year's frozen berries that I haven't used yet. They were past their prime anyway but I hope the bears don't get into my garbage tonight. I put them in a separate bin just in case. At least then it would only be one bag to clean up. Good thing tomorrow is garbage day!
Time to go to bed - cat is trying to help me type.
Night all, have a good last day of July tomorrow.

This may sound silly but I am very proud of having washed, dried and groomed my Siberian Husky today without any help from a groomer. It has been four years since I was healthy enough to do it by myself.
I had a bit of emotional eating yesterday but I logged everything. I think logging everything helped stop the emotional eating from getting out of hand. I had two gluten-free pecan shortbread cookies. Yummy!0 -

now I figured,I am triying to keep my sodium lower, not eating my exercise calories and,I get on the scale this morning and I am up 2 lbs,
what the hell.... after that many steps why am I gaining?drinking a ton of water, lemon and plain and today I am sooo sore from being on my feet all day I can barely move..
ticks me right off,but will keep on keepin on.
go in to work at noon, so doing laundry now..0 -
Hi there everyone!
August approaching fast. It hasn't been favourite month for a long time - I consider it the dog end of summer when everything starts to look a bit overblown and tired. In London it used to be horrible with the underground overheated and all the tourists! Now we live in the countryside we just hunker down, try not to go anywhere near tourists and enjoy the bountiful harvest of our garden. Should be some plums this year. Last year we had two! The year we arrived we had buckets full and made our first jam in 30 years.
I am going to Winchester tomorrow, although I haven't heard yet from my new friend. I have sold two dresses at the consignment shop, so will pick up that money. Hooray! They were such beautiful and expensive dresses that I am glad they have gone to a good home, even if I haven't made a lot of money. Now I will have to buy a new winter coat as my old, very expensive one is hanging off me. You don't think of outerwear as getting too big! I have my eye on a red boiled wool one from Boden. I would never have worn a red coat when I was bigger.
Joyce- I am not saying your husband's approach is right, but, as a bit of a control freak myself, I can see where he's coming from! I have to really rein myself in when I get the urge to organise everyone and I always know best! And my mother would always manage to remind us how much she had spent/sacrificed for us. In the end I would tell her that I would rather she didn't give me anything if she was going to hold it over me for the rest of my life! I must have got it from her!:blushing: I deliberately adopted a hands off approach with my boys and tried never to run a guilt trip on them as I so hated my mum's approach. But I still wanted them to be wonderful and independent and clever and . . . . .
Quiet day today. Done my gymming and weight training. I'm up to 20 press ups! Used not to be able to do one!
Got to catch up on admin and organising.
Jodios- so glad the sun has come out. Enjoy!:flowerforyou:

Morning everyone;
well I've spent about 2 hours shredding bank statements that were 13 - 20 years old. But yea I'm done! Remember when they sent you all your cancelled checks! You actually had to do the balancing of your bank statement by using your old noodle! Man this makes me feel so OLD!!! I'd better get on another track. Also have gotten a load of laundry done and now I need to get that put away.
I haven't exercise yet today but that will come next.
Yes I noticed that the MFP home page has changed too. All I can say is YUCK. It just isn't too inviting looking.
Well BBL
