Why are so many excluding milk from their diet?

I don't get it. I can understand not liking milk, but to exclude it solely because of dieting purposes? Am I missing something.

Milk is such an easy way to get in your protein. Fairlife milk provides me with 13 grams of protein per cup. If you love milk, I don't see any reason to stop drinking it.

Possibly because an 8oz glass of milk is from 125-150 calories? Also some may have issues with digestion of lactose when taken by itself.
People make changes in their diets due to cost too.

It's too calorie dense for me.

Seriously overstating the calorie content. Fat Free milk has 80-90 calories per 8oz serving, but offers up 8g of protein.

Right on about so many people having issues digesting lactose, though. Also, milk has a fairly high carb/sugar count due to the lactose -- which can cause insulin spiking, as well.

I make room for milk. I just don't drink it with oreo cookies anymore. (And that's OK).

I've never liked milk and don't digest it well. It wasn't hard for me to give up.

Vegetable roots are for vegetables. I am not a vegetable.

To answer OP's question, some cut dairy out because it's fairly calorie dense (although it's macro/micronutrient profile is great). Others cut it out because they've read pseudoscience and scaremongering on disreputable propaganda sites saying that dairy is "bad for you" or "dangerous" or "unhealthy".

You've been here 4 days. I've seen 1, maybe 2 threads about dairy?
But yeah, folks sometimes pick a "thing" to eliminate. To lower calories.

I reduced milk in take just because it's tough to get fresh milk unless I own a cow. Milk is the most adulterated food at my place.

Fat free milk IMO isn't milk. More like watered down powered milk. But that's just me. The calories I gave were for 2% and full fat milk.

I have a glass now and then, just find yogurt, granola, or a whole wheat slice of something more satisfying. Sticks with me than any glass of milk with cereal does.

I don't do milk because I'm lactose intolerant, but honestly also because I have just begun to find that drinking another species breast milk is rather gross. Something hit me at one point...would I drink human breast milk or eat human-breast milk made cheese? No...

I should clarify I am not vegan - I still eat meat- but milk just icks me out. It potentially has pus. Eeew.

It's not pus, for crying out loud. Woo

question. Do you eat cheese, yogurt, pudding, sour cream, and cottage cheese, or have you eliminated all milk products?

i love milk but i don't have to eliminate it for it not to appear in my diary very often. i just don't drink it much regularly. what, are grown adults sitting around the dinner table pouring themselves a tall glass of milk to eat with their steak? i pour it in my Cocoa Pebbles and I use it as an ingredient when I'm cooking pancakes, occasionally i mix my protein powder with chocolate milk. other than that....it just sits in my fridge.

what it is NOT is a convenient way to get protein while you're cutting. full fat milk is calorie dense for the protein it provides and skim milk tastes like sadness. 2% is tolerable....but what's even the point?

Love milk but my husband only drinks whole milk. Too many calories for me so I use unsweetened coconut milk in my smoothies.

I used to love whole milk! So delicious! But I knew it wasn't the healthiest. Skim milk is indeed sad, but also it generally has more sugar in it than 2% milk. So I settled on 2%. I love milk!

You don't want to be anywhere near me, or between me and a toilet, if I've had whatever my body deems "too much" milk to drink. What that amount is varies, but it certainly isn't much.

Almond milk appears to be much less unsettling. And lower in calories. :)

Skim milk tastes like cardboard. Ugh.

I *love* raw, whole milk. Its AHHMAZING! and OMG...homemade raw milk yogurt?! To.die.for. Unfortunately...raw, whole milk is 150cals a cup. Thats too high for my 1350 calorie limit, IMO. I occasionally make room for a glass, but not too often and always on days i have added in a good amount of exercise calories.

I love it but I only put it in my coffee and the occasional recipe. If I didn't drink coffee I'd probably drink milk maybe once a month. As it stands, though, I have it everyday with my coffee.

I exclude it because it is too many calories (for me), it tastes nasty (to me) and I am lactose intolerant as well.

    Organic milk is the best!

One glass and a cup of cereal or something to go with it wipe out a third of my daily allowance. But the satiety level is low!!!

I drink a small amount of fat free milk in my fiber one cereal. I grew up on fat free, so that tastes right. While on a deficit I make a point of not drinking calories, it's what works for me.

I stopped drinking milk because I stopped eating cereal, weetbix etc

I stopped eating cereals for an unknown reason.

Then I realised I'm getting like no calcium.

So I started back in the milk.

Probably wasn't an issue, according to a dexa scan my bone density is near max.
