Do you use one of the life straws where you can just suck the water right out of where ever you are drinking?0 -

No, I use a Survivor Pro filter. It takes out everything down to 0.01 microns, then drop in an iodine tablet to kill anything that might be left (giardia).0 -

I bought some of the straws, but have never used them. Honestly, I'm afraid to. I would rather strain, filter through some sand and boil, but I would use them if I had too.0 -
Lucky you! Mine's okay. Got to work at 10:30, chatted with my boss until 12 and now I'm fixing to go to lunch here in a little.0 -

Correction... I said giardia and meant the Norwalk virus. And a comment on the life straws, they're good in a pinch, especially if you're using them on a running water source, BUT where I go, the water is all standing. The LifeStraw only filters down to 0.2 microns, which is way too big for my locations (without it being an emergency).0 -

Ewww....I would hate to drink from standing water. It's always better if it's flowing. Yeah, in emergency situations you will take your chances if that's all you have. I bought some when I got into some kind of prepper mentality. LOL0 -

Standing water is fine after it's filtered. It looks like crap, initially, but my filter actually has three different filters - first one takes out the muck and grime, second takes out the pretty small stuff, third one acts like dialysis and takes out pretty much everything else. Comes out crystal clear.0 -
Grabbed sushi for lunch and it is so so good...I went for the brown rice. I'll consider today my cheat day.0

Cool. Does it add a lot of weight to your backpack? I heard weight is important.0
