I've gotten off to a bad start due to cold weather and being out of town. Changing my goal to 300 miles in April, and if I don't make it then I don't make it :p so far the only biking I've done is just around town doing errands and such, but it's still something
    4/4 - 5 miles

    Total: 5 miles
    Goal: 300 miles
    Remaining: 295 miles

    Goal: 300 miles
    Remaining: 280 miles

Surprised myself by making it to the next village through the woods today - here's us parked up in the old church porch.

4/5 - 16 miles - chilly and sunny on the way in this morning. Toes froze. A bit warmer and wet on the way home. Toes froze again. I'm looking forward to the day my toes don't freeze. The extended forecast does not look good on that front.

I am in the middle of moving and my bikes are already in Colorado while I'm in Wyoming. I won't be in CO until the 21st, I'll be there just a few days before I head back to WY for a few days cleaning carpets and the final clean and meeting with the landlord. I will be lucky to get a single ride in this month but hopefully I will get one!

Awww, facebook is reminding me about my early cycling days three years ago. Now it's like, 20 below in a blizzard? Bring it on!

    4/1 - 17 miles
    4/2 - 23 miles
    4/3 - 2.5 miles
    4/4 - 24 miles
    4/5 - 16 miles
4/6 - 23 miles - still in the upper 20s/lower 30s in the mornings, which makes it too cold to do 15 miles on the way into work without switching over to heavier boots. Don't want to switch over to heavier boots because they're no fun to bike 15 miles in. Alas. Should be able to do 15 miles on the way home though. Looks like it might snow tomorrow morning too. So much for that glorious early spring March led us to believe was promised *sigh*

First flat tire of the year today :o

After a few days of rain, the weather was finally nice today, so I spontaneously decided to skip breakfast, grab an energy bar for the road and use the saved time to cycle a longer way to work. I think the tire was still fine when I left, but it started loosing air rapidly. I quickly gave up on the more roundabout route I had planned, and still arrived at work 15 minutes late and soaked in sweat.
Rather than going to the canteen in my lunch break, I grabbed some chocolate from a vending machine (lots of great food choices today!) and took the bike to the nearest bike shop. Fortunately, I had a small bike pump with me, so I could re-inflate the tire at every red light... Apparently, the bike shop only fixed things if you make an appointment, so I just bought a new tube and returned to work. On the way back, I got really lucky: during one of my red-light-reinflate stops, another cyclist pulled over and offered me his help. He had a set of tools with him and exchanged the tubes in 10 minutes. Without him, I would have had to ride back to work and then home with the flat tire, and it usually takes me much, much longer to do repairs on my own. This guy is my hero!

    home -> work -> bike shop -> work -> home: 20.6 km

    April: 34.7km of 100km done

Rode to my first regular season baseball game today down at Tropicana field (as I rode to a dozen spring training ones as well up in Dunedin) to see my Jays playing the Rays. Decided to go at the lastminute, so rode a bit hard there, and met a friend halfway back. Need to work on my pre-race tapering though as my Ironman 70.3 is coming up on Sunday.

    4/1 - 28 miles
    4/4 - 18 miles
    4/5 - 29 miles
    4/6 - 51 miles (Rays vs. Jays @ Tropicana)

    Total: 126 miles
    Goal: 500 miles
    Remaining: 374 miles

    4/1 - 12.06 miles, road bike, 54.12 minutes
    4/2 - 17.66 miles, road bike, 1:25 minutes
4/8 - Think I sat my goal to high now. We have had a week of terrible weather. Saturday was high of 35 with 16 to 20 mph winds, sleet/freezing rain/snow. All week been cold and rained everyday and windy. 45000 locally without power as winds has been 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50. Rain with snow mix tomorrow again (Friday) and Saturday high of 35 rain in the morning turning to wintery mix in the afternoon winds 16-25. uggggg!!!!

    Totals- MTD - 29.72

    Jan. miles - 170.5 bike
    Feb. miles- 245.25 bike
    March miles- 409.78 bike

4/7 - 8.5 miles - it's snowing and will snow throughout the day, so I think I'll take the train home from work rather than risk possible slip and falls with my skinny tires. Had a near miss at my least favorite intersection this morning. The bike crossing is back several dozen feet from the intersection itself, so you're never sure if cars will stop or see you. A kindly bus driver stopped to let the small group of cyclists that had congregated cross, but an suv traveling in the opposite direction must have either missed us all or decided it was too important to wait the extra 15 seconds to get from where she would have had to stop to the actual intersection itself, where she had to stop anyways because the light was red. Pretty sure that I'm either going to die at this intersection or somewhere in downtown Minneapolis in the midst of all of the construction. But at least I'll die doing something I love (riding a bike, not being hit by a car).

@UmmSqueaky I am originally from the Minneapolis area! Good for you for getting out in these low temps. I never biked much on city streets, but I would often bike along the greenway and around Calhoun/ lake of the isles to get some miles in and look at the pretty houses :p
I also get that problem a lot when crossing streets. One car stops and waits forever while cars in the other lane won't stop and I just sit there feeling guilty about the whole thing! I've had a few close calls because of that, and even tipped over once cause I was wearing my clip-ons and had to make a sudden stop and couldn't get unclipped in time LOL though, the only thing that was hurt was my pride, luckily

@puglife456 Yay Twin Cities peeps! You probably are familiar with the intersection of death at 26th and Hiawatha? *shudders*

We're all too polite for our own good here - when I related my close encounter to my SO, he said he drove through that intersection this morning and tried to defer to a cyclist, who was wary to cross so they kind of just stared at each other for awhile before the guy on the bike went through lol.

4/8 - 17 miles - snowing again today but nothing is sticking. Next weekend looks to be in the 60s, so I'm planning to do my first century ride. But first I have to do some bike maintenance on my road bike. Shifting is wonky, so I'm going to a women's open mechanics shop on Monday to see if I can change the chain and maybe the rear cassette. Up until now my dad has done my bike maintenance, but I'd like to learn more so I can start touring. Can't very well call up my dad if something goes wrong 300 miles out in the middle of no where!
