4/8 - Think I sat my goal to high now. We have had a week of terrible weather. Saturday was high of 35 with 16 to 20 mph winds, sleet/freezing rain/snow. All week been cold and rained everyday and windy. 45000 locally without power as winds has been 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50. Rain with snow mix tomorrow again (Friday) and Saturday high of 35 rain in the morning turning to wintery mix in the afternoon. uggggg!!!!
4/11 - 18.20 miles, road bike, finally the weather straightened up for a ride.
4/12 - 29.15 miles, road bike, great weather for a change
4/13 - 19.64 miles, road bike, rode with the Wed. eve ride group
4/16 - 53.21 miles, road bike, river trails by Evansville, 82*F beautiful day
4/17 - 8.65 miles, road bike, quick little ride before dark after driving home 5 hours.
Totals- MTD - 158.57 boy last week of cold, wet, snowy weather is going to make this ruff getting!!!

Great ride yesterday. I couldn't have asked for better weather. I got home with a big appetite but I was able to whip up a healthy dinner and had some yogurt for desert rather than just eating everything in sight

First MTN BIKE Race for 2016 Report: I broke a spoke during warm ups when the chain slipped off into the spokes. This caused the rear wheel to have enough wobble to rub on the chainstay and slightly bent the derailleur hanger which made shifting not so great. I did the race anyway. Saddle angle kept slipping as I failed to tighten it enough, so that required multiple stops to pound it back into position with my fist. Finished 5th in my age class, 14th overall and was glad to get through the mechanical issues. Bike is heading into the shop for repairs!1 -

Looks like rain in the forecast the next few days. If it weren't 30 days of biking I'd take some time off, but instead I'm planning on putting my bike on the train if it's raining the morning and hoping it will be clearer when I ride home.

My rides have been pretty limited since my crash last weekend. Was starting to feel better, but went shopping this weekend and picked up a 40 pound box of cat litter, and pulled whatever muscle was starting to heal. Hopefully, this soreness will go away soon.

I picked up a 2015 Kona Rove AL on a clear-out last week to commute. Great bike. I'm on day 5 of commuting combined with my food shopping from the weekend i have hit 167.1 KM so far, the ride home tonight will be a long one (26 km or so with a stop along the way ) , this is the first riding i've done in two years, i had a beater i did some commuting to my old job on (about half the distance i now do) the ride in is a steady uphill gaining 103meters (makes the ride home nice but man that is tough in the morning). need to work on time the 16km in is taking about 65 minutes the ride home 50.
As of this morning's ride in I am at 248.4 km so halfway to the target of 500km for the month. Just leaving for the 16km home I may take a spin by the lakefront on the way and add 8km or so - and some protein, when i road it Saturday i was eating bugs a good chunk of the way0 -

Finally got out for a pleasure ride around the burgh today, so I explored all of the urban riverfront trails late this afternoon. Definitely hard to wipe the smile off my face on that ride as the weather was next to perfect, the scenery was gorgeous, and the trails weren't too busy. Ended up getting in a quick hammerfest expresso ride tonight at the gym as well while warming up for a lifting session, as I managed to maintain about 300 watts for 10 minutes while keeping my heart rate around zone 3-4.
Having had some success on carbon clinchers for my ironman 70.3 a week ago, I almost pulled the trigger on a great sale today for some HED Jet 5s w. a power meter ($1120), but given how infrequently I race, and how little my shop charges for wheel rentals, I'm just going to stick with my stock semi-aero time trial bike wheels for now, and continue to use speed as a proxy for power, as I only rarely ride on hills in Florida.

The bike was just totally upgraded last week (as in everything except the frame and headset). Looks like it will just be a spoke, and a new derailleur hanger to fix it.

Still got a nice mud stripe up my behind and backpack, but avoided a soaking. And it looks like it's not going to rain on the way home either. Now, just need to remember to take the corners slow. My poor giant is looking a bit beaten from all the falls I've taken in the last 7 months.

Will there be another challenge like this in May? I'm just starting out cycling - mainly on stationary bike at my gym currently as I get used to the very small and painful saddle on my road bike! Since we are only 9 days away from the end of the month, I don't think it's a good idea to suddenly join now but would love to do this in May! It's so inspiring seeing how everyone is doing!0

I about shared your pain last Saturday at a intersection on a bike trail in Evansville. I was at a crossing, cars had a red light, I had the cross walk sign. There was a pickup truck stopped at the light and just when I was at the curb he pulls out to make a right turn on red. I stood on the brakes to keep from broadsiding him and just as my bike was angling down my clip in popped open so I kind of hurdled the bike and stayed on my feet but the bike went down.0 -
