4/21 - 17 miles - I love biking after a spring rain. I do not, however, enjoy the mud stripe up my back after said ride. So very much looking forward to getting my Gunnar up and functional with fenders this weekend. I ordered purple bar tape and treated myself to a new purple pannier to go with it. Just need some purple pedals and purple bottle cages and it will be perfect.

I'm in, will set my goal at 400 miles.

4/8 - Think I sat my goal to high now. We have had a week of terrible weather. Saturday was high of 35 with 16 to 20 mph winds, sleet/freezing rain/snow. All week been cold and rained everyday and windy. 45000 locally without power as winds has been 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50. Rain with snow mix tomorrow again (Friday) and Saturday high of 35 rain in the morning turning to wintery mix in the afternoon. uggggg!!!!
4/11 - 18.20 miles, road bike, finally the weather straightened up for a ride.
4/12 - 29.15 miles, road bike, great weather for a change
4/13 - 19.64 miles, road bike, rode with the Wed. eve ride group
4/16 - 53.21 miles, road bike, river trails by Evansville, 82*F beautiful day
4/17 - 8.65 miles, road bike, quick little ride before dark after driving home 5 hours.

Yesterday was a rather dreary day in Minneapolis. Losing Prince is like getting all the fresh air sucked out of your lungs. He was often spotting tooling around Paisley Park on his bike, even just a few days ago. I biked over to First Ave after work to pay my respects, and got a flat tire. Dug around in my bag for my patch kit, but it started to sprinkle, so I hightailed it over to the downtown bike shop to get in changed inside instead. Shortly thereafter, the heavens opened and down the rain poured. And poured. And poured. Not quite purple rain, but fitting.
After the rain let up, the sun came out and the grass was so green. A rainbow appeared over Paisley Park. Life will continue, although now a little less purple and fabulous now without our Prince.

4/23 - 13 miles - local bike paths are getting pretty crowded. Last weekend, I went in the afternoon and ended up riding the road. Got up and went out at 8:30 this morning thinking it would be clearer, but it was just a different kind of crowd. Runners. Lots and lots of runners. Groups of runners running on the bike paths. It's almost enough for me to throw up my hands and become a roadie. Guess I need to get myself matching kit with a bib.

Week 1 - 70 miles including a really hilly 60 mile ride (hills are my weak point)
Week 2 - 92 miles including a very hilly 53 miler with an exceptional climber (a humbling experience!)
Decided to enter a Century Audax ride on 8th May (New Forest) so need to get serious with training.
Week 3 - 58 miles ride tackling 4 big climbs in Surrey Hills A.O.N.B.. Plus a few hours of indoor training.
Week 4 - 146 miles including an 81 mile ride @ 16mph to test my endurance, happy the Audax is looking like I will get the distance at a reasonable pace (for me!).
One more week of heavy training and dieting then I will taper off training and go back to maintenance calories.1 -

4/24 - 4 miles - the last week of #30daysofbiking looks like it will be pretty darn wet. Spent the weekend working with my dad on bike things. Gunnar is out of the box and on the road, just waiting for some dry weather to take it for a longer spin. It's going to take awhile to get used to - my giant has auxiliary brakes on top of the handlebars, so I'm conditioned to reach there to brake. And, I've now got shimano 105 shifters, upgraded from the soras on my giant. Theoretically better shifters (ok no they are better shifters), but they work a bit differently and it's throwing me off.

I picked up a 2015 Kona Rove AL on a clear-out last week to commute. Great bike. I'm on day 5 of commuting combined with my food shopping from the weekend i have hit 167.1 KM so far, the ride home tonight will be a long one (26 km or so with a stop along the way ) , this is the first riding i've done in two years, i had a beater i did some commuting to my old job on (about half the distance i now do) the ride in is a steady uphill gaining 103meters (makes the ride home nice but man that is tough in the morning). need to work on time the 16km in is taking about 65 minutes the ride home 50.
As of this morning's ride in I am at 248.4 km so halfway to the target of 500km for the month. Just leaving for the 16km home I may take a spin by the lakefront on the way and add 8km or so - and some protein, when i road it Saturday i was eating bugs a good chunk of the way
As of this morning's Ride in to work (in the rain) I am at 373.85 km this month. I will be giving a break on saturday definitely as I am walking a half Marathon Sunday and want a rest day in there . Friday i will ride to the event registration and pick up some extra kms though (and My bib race shirt ...) the rest of this week i will play by ear (I took Thursday Friday off the commute because i needed the car to visit vendors and I had a lot of back pain which i want to avoid for Sunday ) I have 127km to make my goal for the month (work commute alone if i do it every day will be 141.3 so I should make it barring fatigue or needing the car at work
