    Yep - javelinas. Mean little critters, traveling in packs, but happily for me I wasn't in their path! A rattlesnake in the path when hiking at Big Bend Ranch State Park in Texas, but I saw it before getting too close. And a black bear once in our camping area in an Arkansas State Park, but fortunately for all of us it wasn't aggressive.

    TNP has backpacked in a wilderness area.
