SAY "NO" TO LATE NIGHT SNACKING -- MAY 2016 CHALLENGE

Hi...back on MFP to make my goals! I would like to join for June.3

I don't usually have time to comment. (I'm grateful for the addition of the "Like" and "Awesome" buttons, so even the rushed among us can cheer for our friends' accomplishments.)
While several are continuing some banner streaks, this month has more than usual (it seems) who are struggling. Perhaps it's the longer days (northern hemisphere) making our self-selected cutoff times seem earlier. I'd like to offer some encouragement from someone who - before these challenges - never contemplated a day without LNS. Whether I went out of my way to "have calories left," or I just mindlessly ate my way through the kitchen, LNS ruled me.
Remember:- First, every streak begins with ONE IN A ROW. Tackle that challenge, before you worry about tomorrow...or beyond!
- Don't let your old patterns tell you "This day/week/month is blown. Just start over tomorrow/Monday/next month."
- Identify and make a plan to overcome your triggers - boredom, sadness, whatever - so they don't "catch you by surprise."
- Determine not to eat (live) on impulse. Don't let yourself go into that zombie-like state (preaching to self) that has you snarfing a bag of chips, or fast food burger, or pint of ice cream (or all of the above) on autopilot, only to "wake up" as you swallow the last bite. Then you wallow in guilt and shame...which is another trigger...and you tell yourself you'll start again next..." (See above.)CarrieA180 wrote: »Daughter came in with a tray of brownies last night! To all: You are a great encouragement and a form of accountability that - many times - has helped me choose to "adult" when my inner child wanted to impulse. Keep up the great work! Determine to finish the month strong.

Speaking from experience, I can honestly say it does help with weight loss! Social gatherings are easy derailments for late night snacking, but kudos to you for getting back in the saddle!4 -

I haven't posted since May 25th, so bringing my totals up to date. 1 of the 2 "fails" was due to having to eat supper later than normal. The other "fail" I only had fruit, so didn't feel quite as bad about it.
