I would ask for a clarification
If your goal is just to lose weight, and you don't have any medical issues that interfere with or will be interfered by weight loss, you can lose weight "alone", just by using MFP's setup and food diary, and eat whatever the hell you want. Be more active if you can.0 -
My doctor recommended a low carb, low sugar diet too, and it isn't terribly hard to do. Sticking to a low carb high fat plan has been excellent for my cholesterol levels, and for joint inflammation that I was having. You need not starve. However you do need to be more specific than just saying "no carb."2

It may be time for you to consider another doctor!! Please get a second opinion, or a referral to a nutritionist or dietician who would be more specialized in this area. Not eating ANY carbs means no veggies....will you eat only meat? I think you'll be creating a whole new set of problems in that case0

I have endometriosis. Which I already have had to take gluten, dairy, and soy out of my diet. It is hugely triggered by foods that cause inflammation. I will ask for a referall to a nutritionist. My family has been helping me with it so far and im more so just eating vegetables where id eat junk.

My doc did say no carb. So along with everyone's suggestion I will ask for a referall to a nutritionist2 -

Im assuming my doc was confused. she told me to up my veggies. So I will ask for a referall4 -
I agree with dmariet116. There are good carbs and bad, probably what the Dr was referring to but didn't explain.
I eat only fresh fruit (some), fresh veggies and meat (lots of fish). I do not eat grains (breads, pastas etc), white potatoes, no legumes. Try to eat what is in season as well. Look into taking out nightshades (tomatoes, eggplant, peppers ect.) from your diet. These can be major inflammatories in your system. Since taking these out, my arthritis is not longer present. You may also want to be tested for food allergens that could be causing problems for you. I go to a functional medicine clinic. They were very good at finding my problems. I also had a DNA test done which explained how much I should eat and the breakdown on macro nutrients. Believe it or not I am on a 55% carb/25% protein/20% fat diet. My DNA shows that my body holds onto extra fat. Before i was taking in more fat and protein and not losing the weight. Crazy thing is I can eat a seat potato or 2 before going to bed and wake up 2 lbs lighter then the day before. Remember everyones body is different, mine just loves the carbs. Since doing this my energy levels have sky rocketed and I have lost 22 lbs. Good luck to you and be your own advocate.

I just started the Dr Poon diet and the first two weeks is no-carb, removing all fruits, refined sugars (of course), grains and veggies high in starch. I've managed to keep my cards to less than 20gs but i don't think i could do this long term... thanks for starting the conversation -- i will use some of these hints too.

Geez, it is so irresponsible for people who have no idea the OP's medical condition or history to say this is what your doctor meant and this is how you should eat

I've been Keto since May 2016 to Dec. 22, 2016. Then went to zero carb which means no "plant foods". I am doing this as an experiment for my health. I eat all meats, eggs and dairy. I am well. I am off prescribed medication. My doctor is happy, I am happy. I am fasting for 7 days at the moment, then I will return to my meat, eggs & some dairy & water diet.

This sounds like a recipe for disaster. I can't imagine any health professional telling someone never eat fruits and veggies. Many advise we should eat more vegetables.
A 7 day fast? As in no food at all, just water? That's not healthy at all.1 -

Do you have a link to something scientific (not a blog) supporting the claim that legumes are bad carbs?0 -
