    Did he really say that or are you misconstruing something he said? As I understand it, part of the whole eating disorder carries a severe lack of self confidence, and we women sometimes look too far into something said. One of my coworkers once told me that I (he's a guy btw) looked better with makeup on. Now, the damned fool didn't mean to hurt my feelings, but it did. My reaction? I asked him if he realized that he said that out loud - in front of all of our colleagues!

    Women have deep feelings and hurt easily. We talk around stuff. Men on the other hand say it like they think it - very simply. Read Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus to learn more about your man. Or ditch him if he's dead weight.

    be very careful..... that kind of conversation from significant others can put someone with an eating disorder history back into an eating disorder. If he is not sensitive enough to you now, it wont improve after a longer relationship, marriage, etc. We as women sometimes listen too much to our heart and not our head. I've done the same. Be very careful. This behavior would not change even if you lost a few pounds: there will always be something else that you need to change, or come too short of his expectation.
