They also use the "drink a glass of water" when you are hungry and see if it changes your hunger. Great way to get in those water ounces........

    THURSDAY

    Good morning,

Up in the middle of the night and could not sleep for beans. So I got up now to feed dog. Will go back for more sleep. Seems State Disability thinks Worker's Comp should pay, so I was smart enough at 1am to not fill out that form, I will do so today. I hope they have large spaces for answers.

Hunger vs craving - gets us all. Putting candy by check out stands is why they do that.

Lana hope all your appointments go okay, it is an exhausting process.

🔵 Beck Day 11 continued....Differentiate Between Hunger, Desire, and Cravings

She wants us to monitor our hunger, observing as well as writing down on a chart, rating it from 1 to 10.

"Before you sit down to eat each meal and snack, notice how your stomach feels."
"Halfway through the meal, notice how your stomach feels. Rate it..."
"Rate your hunger again once you've finished eating. Notice your thoughts: Do you still want to eat more?
Do you feel a physical sensation in your stomach?
Is it more in your mouth or throat?
Do you want to eat a specific food? (desiring or craving) or will any food do (you're still hungry)?
How do you feel 20 minutes after eating?"

After eating a planned meal, Beck suggests we say to ourselves, "Okay, I'm hungry, no big deal, I'm going to eat again in ____ hours, so here's a chance to strengthen my resistance muscle" (which Lynn referred to)

    Hello All~~

Boy, yesterday was busy - not what I was expecting. DH and I ended up at our favorite family-style Italian restaurant, and I checked my diet at the door. I drank water, we skipped dessert, and I had no pasta, but did eat a lot of fried calamari appetizer..before my chicken and broccoli rabe.

    Today will be better.

How is everyone else doing today?

    Hello!
Lana - I am doing well today, cold is getting better, feeling more like myself. Thanks for Beck info - I am still digesting this topic and to be honest it is making me hungry
Sara - WC - that can be more stressful than disability apps. Good luck with this all. I hope you can wade through it. You are so great with you pups. They are lucky to have you.
damaddox - ideas for stress eating. take away the temptations of grabbing quick junk food. Have fresh veggies and fruit at the ready - stress eat with those. Mindful, deep breaths and ask yourself before each bite why you are eating this. Hungry? Craving? Distraction? It is your choice to eat or not and you will have to change your mind. Now that sounds pretty easy doesn't it? obviously not- we all struggle with that. maybe others will have ideas as well.

Round 2 of winter weather advisory coming early morning. Sleet, snow, rain, ice...could be interesting going to work...or, maybe I will get a 4 day weekend...hehe

Had a scary incident hit close to home. My SIL told me of a first grader, in her school district, brought a gun to school and a list of people. Thankfully, was not at my nieces school. But, still...that poor little girl...what could be so awful in her life at this age? As much as I have always wanted kids, I am really ok for never having any. You can’t even send them to school without worrying....

    FRIDAY

    Good morning,

Up to feed dog. Will eat later helps with the mid day cravings.

Need to go to bank and update address and tsf some money to make sure things dont bounce. Chances of me getting disability are not good, but we shall see.

Up middle of night with all my water drinking and getting back to sleep has been tough. Oh what we go through to lose weight.

Dawn lets hope the social services set that child up with therapy, maybe its the only way she could ask for help.

Oh my goodness! I wonder if that little girl was bullied or constantly made fun of. Children can be so cruel to each other. 😥

🔵 Beck Day 12 - Practice Hunger Tolerance

    What to Do
Pick a day this week to practice hunger tolerance. Choose a day when you know you'll be busy and you won't be faced with difficult eating triggers. Many of Beck's dieters did this experiment on a workday because a structured routine helped them refrain from eating until dinnertime.

On the day you do this, eat breakfast and then purposely do not eat again until dinner.
At lunch time, figure out how uncomfortable (not how hungry) you are and journal every hour between lunch and dinner, rating how strong your discomfort is at that very moment.

Beck says it is important to learn to distinguish between "need" and "want".

    - Read your Advantages Response Card at least twice today.
    - Eat slowly sitting down noticing every bite.
    - Give yourself credit !!!
    - Do spontaneous and planned exercise
    - Plan a day to skip lunch i order to learn that you can tolerate feeling hungry.

    Good morning!
Dawn that is very scary and so very sad. Pretty sure my kids had rainbows, unicorns and puppies on the brain in first grade not a list of who to kill. It is so very sad what has happened to this generation of kids. I shudder to even ponder our future.
Sara did I ever ask you about State/County services. In Wisconsin we have disability benefit specialists. They are housed in each county. They help people put together and raise the success rates of disability. Particularly when it is more difficult to make a case for mental health. I work for a County - so maybe I have told you this before?
I don't know how to add emojis or blue dots like Lana....One Beck success - twice during my dinner meal last night I actually took time to think about my hunger and satisfaction. I will look at next week at work for hunger challenge  that will be an interesting day at work.
Happy Friday - snowstorm headed our way!

Lynn, for CA disability is state. Somehow I remember you worked for civil service at some level. I am operating under the assumption that they will not help, hence going to bank today.

    SATURDAY

    Good morning,

Its a dogs weekend with groomer today and Vet visit tomorrow. Will have to pamper her somehow.

Coworker messaged me late last night about going out today - if we can connect up that may work.

Pork Loin for crockpot with potatoes/carrots/parsnips.

Amazing how little chocolate I eat when it is not available.

    Hello Ladies~~

I had a heart to heart with Leandro, and he said that I should take the weekend off and rest all of us regarding the Beck program. Lynn, I hope that this can be OK with you, as you may be eager to move forward.

I am up to my *kitten* in alligators here in NYC with Estranged DH. We are doing very well, all things considered.

Very late yesterday (Friday) afternoon, he heard from MSK that they will be doing surgery on him on Feb 11, and they have an opening for a meet and greet/consult this coming Wednesday. So both of us changed our flying plans.

He will be going back to Las Vegas on Thursday, but I have chosen to stay in NYC until Sunday the 26th in order to attend on Saturday the AKC "Meet the Breeds" event at the big convention center here in the City.

I am very excited about this! It will be a "reward/treat" after all of the stress.

went to dinner with friend after thrift store/consignment shopping and shoe shopping and the red numbers are unkind.

Got a pair of shoes that I can wear on a job interview that would go with slacks or a skirt so that is off my mind. Got 5 items for about $80.00 that was the good news. How large I look in the mirror was not a pleasantry.

Weekend off on Beck? Always did like Leandro!! Lana hope things are going okay in the Big Apple. Is the AKC event a dog show?

    Wishing all a good night.

Any idea of diet has gone out the window lately. Today for sure. It was my grandson's third birthday. I caved to sweets.

Has anyone seen the Dr Oz System 20? I have looked at it briefly and it seems decent. I am not sure if I can do the intermittent fasting part. It is also sleep monitoring and checking mental/emotional health, so it is for the whole person. I think I may keep it as my Beck back up diet plan though.

    Hi all
Having a good week in terms of healthy eating and losing weight. 5lbs down. Woo hoo. Managed a plank exercise and so feel ready to get into exercise properly. Need to get right mental state. Feeling nearly there now. I’m feeling more in control of work so life getting better as a result - less stress. There’s a good programme on tv in uk about exercise and eating tasty food so bought the book and following along.

    I know you are all
battling your own fight so hang in there. I’m riding the benefit of the good days as I know we all suffer down days too ❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻

    Good morning All~~

Sara - I'll definitely report back to you on just what the AKC "Meet the Breeds" is. I think that it is a big display "show" to feature all the different breeds, but it is not a competition, from what I've read. I'm expecting just a big festive thing where I can wander around looking at all the various doggies and owners, sitting there on display.

Then, when I return in a few weeks to NYC, for DH's surgery on Feb. 11, that will be when the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show will be going on, so I will come up before the weekend and buy a ticket for the "benched" portion of the event, to try to go see the Golden Retrievers and the Shih Tzus (and their owners/breeders).
I'll look for the long-haired Chihuahuas too. That's Miss Tillie's breed, yes?

Geez I'm tired today. I've been eating too much cr@p.
