Hello Missy!! So good to see you here at the Cabana Club~~ 🌴

Maureen, it would seem that you need to set some sleep boundaries for yourself. You cannot sleep for THREE hours after work and expect that it will not be disruptive.

What time do you need to be at work when you work? Let's guess it's at 7am.

Commuting to work, you leave the house at 6am. You have a 1-hour commute.

So you ideally get up at 4:30. That gives you 1.5 hours to get up, make coffee (or whatever), enjoy coffee, walk dog (only 20 minutes), and then shower, dress, and get going.

Do NOT work out in the morning.

You are having schedule disfunction, but you will clear it if you step back and see it.

    With love~ Lana

    Happy Saturday afternoon,

Shopping at Asian store this morning. Potatoes, chicken, and collard greens to use with next week meals.

    Rain a lot this week.

Old shoes with old shoe laces - replaced shoe laces and keep the shoes a little while longer.

Sandy - I work insurance so, I am glad you have Medicare which pays a nice chunk of bills and is easier to find drs who take it -medicaid very much less so.

Current project is crochet cat blankets -gets rid of odds and ends yarn.

Neighbor made potato soup. She cooks when stressed and made a large pot. DH had kidney surgery - and soup is perfect for him. That will be my dinner.

Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

    Good Evening!

Lana, she has to wait until she sees the surgeon on Wednesday. I hope her sciatica has eased up by then .…I have had sciatica flare ups and it's awful because it doesn't matter what you do, you can't get comfortable and the pain won't ease up no matter what you do or take. She said the surgical site isn't even bothering her....just the sciatica. And the dinner certainly was Yum!

Maureen, I haven't lost much. My plan was to meet my goal by Christmas but I don't see that happening. Still not gaining is still something. You will get there, too.

My daughter called me early afternoon....I could tell she was sad. I asked her if she would like some pretzel cheese dogs from the Amish Market and she didn't say no. I knew it was going to be mobbed on a Saturday afternoon and it was. Stood in line for a good 20 minutes, but got the dogs and a couple cinnamon sugar pretzels. I would have looked around but it was too crowded (its a small market), so I just headed back. She really liked the dogs. I had one for lunch and one for dinner with some grapes for dessert.

    TTFN…

Good morning. I've been up for hours, of course. Heading back to the herding trials with my sons in a bit. It's a gorgeous day, I took the big dog for a walk (only 50 lbs, but my biggest right now), and am finally getting some breakfast. Gonna log it b/c I have been SO BAD about that!

I hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.

    Good Evening, Ladies!

Missy, yep....I feel bad for people who have to rely on Medicaid.

Maureen....hope you took picks at the trials. 🙂

I put my draftsman's chair together today...

    1000018372.jpg

Its great! Its so high, I can now cook sitting down and see inside a pot. I already used it today. And because its height adjustable, I can keep it at my dining table and use it there, too.

(My little buddy decided to get in the shot. 🙂)

    Eagles are playing. Till tomorrow...

    Hello, Everyone!

Thanks, Lana! I kinda wish I had the use of it today (explanation below).

My daughter just can't eat my ex's chicken anymore....its terrible, so I can't blame her. He's no cook. So I decided to take my last 2 small steaks over and grill them. I also bought a few russet potatoes, sliced them lengthwise, grilled them as well as fresh asparagus on the grill. I have to admit, I nailed it! Everything was delicious. And I found a recipe for something called Chimichurri sauce to top the steaks with....mmmmm! Very easy and very good. My daughter wanted to keep the leftover sauce. I will have to cook another meal for her soon.

But now I am resting my back....its a little achey...it got a workout. But I am happy I could make her feel a little better with a decent meal

I am tired...I did a lot today. Hope everyone is doing well!

    Good morning everybody~

Sandy - that was very nice of you to make such a yummy dinner for your daughter. Maybe find a chicken recipe that your ex can make that is totally different than what he has been doing, in the hopes that it will be a success. For example, maybe a chicken thigh and vegetable recipe that gets combined and goes into a casserole / baking dish and gets baked? I don't have one to offer, as I've been meaning to find one for myself.

I'm going to go to the senior center to check out some group trips they are taking next year. The trips are overpriced, but it can't hurt to go to this meeting today.

    🎶Good Mornin'...Good MORnin'....🎶

Lana, he makes these marinated chicken thighs on the grill and it's gotten to the point where she smells them and feels nauseated. I can try and steer him to something else but I am only the ex wife. Plus he has no empathy....he doesn't see when people are having issues with him or things he does. That's the main reason we aren't together anymore. I'll try, though.

The dinner turned out great! I nailed it, if I do say so myself. My daughter said it was the best meal she'd had since she started staying with my ex...high praise....and I told her to be totally honest. The chimmichurri sauce was the best touch....really added to the steak....she asked if she could have the leftovers.

Breakfast was one of my chicken breakfast sandwiches with an extra slice of cheese...they really skimp on the cheese. The rest of the day is up in the air.

Everyone needs to check in....are you all OK?

    Hi ladies

I haven't been on here for awhile. I usually do at work, only I have been busy and haven't had a chance to. I had to block Facebook on my laptop and remove Messenger from my phone again. I keep "doomsday scrolling" and despite not having Facebook my phone, you can get on it via the Messenger app and then I proceed to do the same thing. I need to break that habit - permanently.

One thing that came from the "doomsday scrolling" was seeing a cooking for 2 video. I found her book and bought the download version. I already tried the Chicken Parmesan Bake and it was so good! And only 1 day of leftovers v 3-4 days of leftovers with some other things I make. I can't wait to try more.

I start every day great with recording what I have. And then it falls apart after I eat breakfast. …………………..

    Good Morning!

Hey, Ang! Nice to see your post! I used to write all my food down, but I am not doing it anymore. I have been down this road enough times that I know the drill. And the cookbook sounds perfect for your needs. ❤️

The SO took me to the international buffet last night, which was really nice. Got to have crab legs and shrimp....and more shrimp...lol! I expected my weight to up temporarily and that's ok...it will go down again.

Hiya hiya to everyone and wishing you all a grrrrrrreat day!

I must google if such a thing exists down here in NC.

I've got to shake things up a bit - my weight loss is stalling because I've been eating some unhealthy calories…

Good Evening! It's almost a good morning, and I will be ready to head to bed after I post here.

Ang, I hope you can fit a run in soon. I have never been a runner…just a walker.

Lana, I hope you sleep better tonight!

And I hope life is treating everyone else well!

Spent the afternoon at my ex's again….daughter needed her laundry, sheets washed, and bed remade. But she went to the surgeon's office yesterday and they took off the bandages, removed her stitches and fitted her with a boot. So she was finally able to get an actual shower. But she isn't able to put the boot back on herself, so she has to make sure my ex is around to do that for her. The ex bought lunch for us…. Chinese, which was nice because I have leftovers for tomorrow. And I made a small batch of sugar cookies….my daughter's request. They weren't as good as the ones I make at Christmas, probably because I had to cut the recipe back. But she didn't complain…she was grateful.

I did have a few of the cookies. And the Chinese was my only meal of the day. I had grapes for a snack earlier this evening. This week, starting tomorrow, is the last week of the Challenge for this quarter. So far, I think I have only lost a couple of pounds since August. Still, it's better than gaining. And even though it's a challenge, this is a lifetime commitment…you don't stop eating right when you reach your goal.

The SO left for Kentucky this morning. I am trying not to think of life without his company…but it's not easy.

    Good morning peeps!

Sandy - what would your daughter do without you!? Thank goodness you can take care of her! I wonder if one of the many videos online could show her some trick or work-around so she can get that boot back on by herself? You are doing well with your weight loss, and kudos for not going up!

I plan on having a very lazy day today. 😁

    Good evening,

    Keep thinking I will post.

Dragon wanted to have a weight loss competition for the holidays, which went over like a lead balloon. I suggested cubicle decorating for Christmas. I have started crocheting my first poinsettia - uses up a lot of small balls of yarn and I checked they are even blue colored.

Hair colored today, soccer and a nap rounds out my day. Food choices are marginal as I am lazy.

Tomorrow I am hoping to make pecan pie bark - it may be church bake sale or Christmas presents for the 2nd batch - if it turns out.

I crocheted two cat sleeping bags (also good for small dogs) to see if they will sell at church.

Wishing all a good night. Stay safe and sane out there.

    Happy Sunday everyone~~

Sara - Ugh, The Dragon is so tone-deaf, isn't she? 🤦🏼‍♀️ Your Saturday sounded perfect. Eye candy and a nap!

Today I plan to get some stuff done. I often play a game to motivate me: 20 minutes on a project, then go to the next project, no matter if the first one is done. Sounds silly, but it works for reduction of clutter and straightening up messes, getting some laundry going, and yard work.

Wishing everyone a nice day today 🌸

    hi, all. Not dead!

herding trial last weekend were fun. Hard to get good pics bc of the distance. I’m so glad my sons could go, too.

lovely weather and decent walks this past week, still at 4 of 7 days. I need more. And the evening eating is why I am not losing. Should walk instead of eat, then go right upstairs to shower and get ready for bed.

I’m full of ideas—it’s the initiation and execution that are the problem!

    Good Evening, Ladies...

Hey, Maureen! Great to see you! Sounds like you all had a great time! Tell me about walking...no ambition here.

Sara, Make sure you post a pic of your Poinsettia...I need to see. 🙂

Lana, hope your plan went well. I was able to get some stuff done today, too. I shredded a bunch of papers that were piling up and put my new shelving unit together so its ready for Christmas decorations.

Today I had the leftover shrimp with lobster sauce for lunch and beef chili for dinner. 8 had a couple apple dumplings for dessert. And water. I had a BIG mug of tea last night before bed and I was up 3 times to the bathroom.....not tonight.

This week as we head into a day of feasting, I am reminded of a saying that I heard when I was a member of Jenny Craig (remember that company?) We were told that a holiday celebration was "a people event with food present"......that we needed to concentrate on the social aspect of the day. However, we members used to say such events were "a food event with people present"....which really was more accurate.…lol! If a person wants to nibble on the veggie plate and drink water, more power to them. I am not that person. I have Thanksgiving, a holiday party the week before Christmas, Christmas Eve dinner, Christmas Day dinner and New Year's day dinner. Not to mention all the snacks....cookies, candy, pies....that will be around the whole season. I only have so much will power. And I am sure most everyone else feels the same way. 🙂

    Till tomorrow....

    'Morning all.

Trying to start the week off right, although I forgot to weigh this a.m. I weigh daily, but am not freaked out by fluctuations. I know all too well they are all going to even out in the long run, in my favor, if I'm doing what I need to be doing. And if I'm not, and they even out in the "wrong" direction, I need the reminder.

Sandy, I drink so much water when I'm being thoughtful about it. Up 3 times a night sometimes—often, lately. As my weight has held steady. But also, it generally evens out if I'm consistent for a few weeks. I just haven't been, lately. And it's been the root cause of my fatigue, I think. Oops. I know better.

    Have a good day, all.

    Cheers,

    Maureen

    Happy Monday everyone~

Sandy - Back in the day when I went to holiday gatherings it helped for me to eat as much of the savory food, especially protein, that I wanted, but just say no to the sweets. Eating sugary stuff just sets up cravings for more sugary stuff for me. Ugh.

Maureen, do you have this whole week off?

Yesterday I walked to church in the morning. Someone told me it was to cold for that. (There was frost in the morning.) I didn't find it cold. In the afternoon, I walked to a house to deliver a gift, back home for a forgotten water bottle and then to choir practice. I don't want to look back at my records to see how long it's been since I've done 6.75km in one day! My gym bad is under my desk at work to try my best to stay motivated to get out for a run on my lunch break

    Good Evenin'!

Maureen, being diabetic, water has become too essential. But I need to taper off in the evenings so I get a good night's sleep...like last night. Slept through till morning.

Ang, nice walking! I bet you felt good about that.

Lana, I do tend to nibble on sweets. But I do like my protein, too. 🙂

It was a mixed day. I planned to get my daughter out of the house but just before we were ready to leave she got an email. It told her she wasn't eligible for short term disability because she never signed up for it when she was hired. She freaked out. She couldn't believe she never set that up....she had it at her last job, but somehow forgot this time. So she will get no pay for December and part of January. She no longer wanted to go out. I told my ex what happened and he will have to pay her rent any other bills for now and she will have to pay him back when she is working again. I wish I could help her, but I don't have the money.

So I went out alone....ran my errands and bought a Wawa gobble bowl for dinner. That and some grapes was my food for the day.

I did do one thing. I bought a bath towel online from Macy's and when I got a text that it was ready for pickup I went to the link on my tablet and scrolled down and saw the same towel for $14....$6 cheaper. I clicked on that link and there was the towel... for $18.68! I said NO WAY was I settling for that. So I took my tablet to the Macy's and showed the clerk, who said I was very smart to bring the tablet...LOL! So she credited me the $6. Better in my pocket than Macy's.

Hope everyone had a good day!

Good Morning! How are Thanksgiving preparations going?

I am SOOO mad at myself! I picked up my Jardience at the pharmacy last week and when I finished my last bottle, I went to get a new one.....and I can't find them! That has never happened to me before. My memory...its frustrating! So now I have no Jardience, which helps my blood sugar. I will keep looking but at this point all I can hope is that I didn't actually throw it out....although I highly doubt I would be that absent minded.

Fire inspection tomorrow.....and its RANDOM! Which means I have to be home all day and no one may show up! Sheesh! On the day before Thanksgiving. Why can't they wait till next week??

    Ok....rant over.

Sandy - Have you found your meds?

If not, look at your calendar or diary or journal to recount what you did that day. Did you go to see your daughter? Did you leave it there in a bag of other stuff for her? You can't find it because it is somewhere unusual, where it doesn't belong. It also could be in your handbag or in your car. Keep us posted!

    Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

    Lana....see below. 🙂

I pulled out my iron and ironing board and pressed my new blazer and comforter, which came out of the package a wrinkled mess. I haven't ironed anything in ages but glad I still have the stuff to do it with.

Good news about my Jardience! I contacted my Dr's office and the NP there arranged to give me samples from the office....all I had to do was go pick them up. So I braved the madness of the holiday traffic and got them. And the NP said she would contact my insurance to get an override which would allow me a refill by the end of December. What a lifesaver! I am extremely grateful to her.

I am waiting for an order of Maple syrup to make a pecan pie. The inspection went to the apartment on the first floor and skipped mine so that's over.

    Till tomorrow...
