@cbabie Nice to see you on here. Think of us like an AA meeting. When you're having a bad day, you can always come for support to help you through. Any progress is progress. Always remember this too shall pass.

@trooworld Did you make good choices at the Christmas parties?

@mswatson0777 My mom's bday passed three days ago. She would have been 82. So cbabie and I know what that's like. I chuckled at the "be on my best behavior" line. I so get that. Getting together with family sometimes is like "it was the best of times, it was the worst of times. I wish family was loving and accepting of who we are and not who they wish we would be. I'm on the other end of that equation now with adult children. So I have room to grow too. That's great you have a plan B for your exercise. I just found a Christmas youtube video I'm going to try tomorrow.

    https://youtu.be/I3TMBWd0ZUk

@retiredandlovingit My daughter told me the other day Mom, I'm getting old. She's 28. I said yeah, ok. lol I said wait til you hit my age then. Of course I couldn't help myself by saying age is a matter of mind. My kids probably don't understand half of what my little sayings are. Then they'll probably quote them to their children. Please God let them have children so i can have some grandchildren. lol Wow you did so great on your steps. Keep it up. Tracking and balance is the key. I have been flirting with buying Reese's cups for weeks now. you know my mantra, I can have it if I plan it. So I bought a package yesterday. I ate one cup today and I can have two more over the next 2 days. I ate it slowly and mindfully taking little bites to make it last longer until dh came up and sat next to me talking. Then it suddenly disappeared. i don't know if I was being unmindful or if he saw it sitting there and popped the last little bite into his mouth. :s All I know is that I went back to eat the last bit and it was gone. Tomorrow I will eat it all by myself. lol Just keep tweaking those calories and you'll eventually get there and it will be a breeze to stay there.

@joannadavison It's probably a good thing you are so busy to keep your mind off of tomorrow. I agree with someone here who said what a great send off. His life should be celebrated. How is your hubby? Hard to lose a parent.

Hi ladies! Last day of work before a full week off woo hoo!!! The parties went well.

@mswatson0777 Yes, it was fun. It is nice to be lowkey at work around the holidays since everything else is so hectic. I do hope you think of the good times with your father. It sounds like you are all ready for your trip, good luck!

    @RetiredAndLovingIt I did have a good time, thanks! I'm sorry your work didn't have parties, that's a shame! :(

@theslightedgeforever Not really. I didn't eat at the later party, but at the first party, I didn't make good choices. I ate whatever. :/

Good morning! :) I'm just popping on to say hi. I read all your post but don't have much time today for personals. My goal for today is to get as much work done as possible so that on Monday I only need to work a couple of hours and then be off until January 2, 2020! B) I'll write more tomorrow!! ;)

@trooworld So glad to hear the parties went well. Well, there's always next party to make better choices. That's the great thing about our journeys. We are only one meal away from getting back on track. So make some notes and try and figure out how to do better at next years Christmas party. Celebrate the fact that you did make good choices at the later party. You could have eaten at both but you didn't.

@teresaw1020 I hope you got all your stuff done because playtime is right around the corner. As always, make good choices.

    Hi all,

Just popping in to say hi. My fitbit band broke a week ago and I really didn't have the money to buy a new one...then I said I can't keep going without it..so I got it today!! I am so excited to have it back on my wrist. I use it mostly to track what little sleep I get and my steps, but it's that not knowing that gets me...I should have that mindset about tracking food.. I think that will be one of my tweaks for the new year.

@joannadavison I am so sorry for you loss at this time of year. No matter what the cause or who, but at the holidays seems to be a hard time to lose anyone. I am glad you and your husband are a support for each other. When my husbands father passes away I took him up north in our state because he loves the outdoors. It was snowing and cold. I hate both, but knew he needed that to heal...so we went and had fun.

@trooworld I love your comment...I didn't make good choices, ate whatever.. Just so a matter of fact..LOL made me smile.

@theslightedgeforever Yea your my AA leader...LOL

Have been working, doing ok with food. Have to work tomorrow. Should ease up after that.

I had someone look at my arm/wrist/shoulder. I guess my arm is so tense or something it's causing wrist pain, and my shoulder doeant move like it should either. He said it's 'gummy'

Not a major i jury or anything, but lots of soft tissue work is needed to release and acupuncture done too.....sitting working doesnt help!

Hooe you have a great weekend, lots of busyness I'm sure. Will try to post more in a few days. When my report is done.

@cbabie You know if I was the AA leader it would always be fun meetings. Yaaay on getting your new fitbit band. Now you have your new January goal: Tracking.

@its_cleo Enjoy your time off. Did they tell you how your arm, etc. got gummy? So it doesn't happen again?

So I hope the rest of you are planning ahead and making good choices. I'll be going out of town tomorrow. I may or may not check in, depending. What will you do without all my nagging? ;)

Good morning ladies! I see I disappeared yesterday whoops! I don't know what happened. I had a busy day yesterday so I guess time got away from me. This morning, I'm going for coffee with a friend and then for a short walk with her. Then at 1:30, I have to meet some people for a late lunch. I'm off until Dec 30th, so that will be nice.

@TeresaW1020 I hope you get your work done so you can be off!

@theslightedgeforever That's true. When the cat's away, the mice will play lol. Come back soon, we need you!!!

@cbabie I'm glad you got a new band yay! re: my comment...sometimes you just have to say it like it was. ;)

@cbabie, glad you got your Fitbit back. I love mine but I can’t sleep with it on, so I don’t get the benefit of tracking my sleep. Which is probably a good thing because I already know that I don’t get near as much as I should be getting. The joys of menopause! :/

@its_cleo, ohhh my a gummy shoulder doesn’t sound good at all! Have you done acupuncture before? My right shoulder has been hurting a lot this past week. I think I favor that side when I’m doing planks. Did I mention that I really hate planks! :#

@theslightedgeforever, what!! I NEED your nagging! You can’t leave me! :o I guess I will just have to go back and read your past post when you are giving me some of that famous tough love of yours. :p I hope you have fun!

@trooworld, hope you have fun with your friends! <3

Hello everyone! It’s a cold and rainy day here and I glad that I have all my shopping done and don’t have to be out in the traffic and weather. This morning was my church’s Christmas potluck and that went really well. Of course, I ate more than I should, but I felt that it was my duty to sample all three of my friend’s French toast casseroles. :D I did skip lunch today and did an extra-long workout to help balance the food that I ate. Tomorrow, I should only have to work a couple of hours. I just need to print the bulletin for the 29th and put together the candles for our Christmas Eve service. I volunteered to work nursery for that service, which made my children's director very thankful. :) I can’t wait for Christmas to get here and then I can’t wait for Christmas to be over so I can pack up my house and get it back to looking normal. I ordered some ornament boxes from Amazon yesterday and have all these great plans to be super organized for next year! :)

@theslightedgeforever & @cbabie DH doing OK. Work gave him 5 days in total- he wasn't expecting that (thought they would do mimimum statutory 3) so he's just had 4 days off. Meant he could rest & also that we had time together.
Funeral was amazing- very emotional but excellent celebration. MiL didn't want flowers so DH went to grave yesterday to lay some. He needed to.

We've been kind of all over the place trying to sort house & Christmas in the middle of everything- my eating has been grab & run but I've tried to be sensible within that.

Waiting on a delivery then off to Beamish Museum with my girls, my cousin & her 2. Lots of walking in brisk air & soaking up Christmas atmosphere. Need some time out from house stuff & organising! DH got hospital check up & then at work til 9:30pm- the joys of retail before Christmas!

Hi gals! It's my first day of vacation and I'm still up at 5:00 a.m., I have to take my husband to work, so no sleeping in for me! It's all good, I've got workers coming at 8:30 to do a test on the condo anyway.

@TeresaW1020 Thanks, I wouldn't call them friends lol, more like colleagues...one is my director, the other is my ex-director. The food was good and the conversation was good but I was glad to get home. :) Super organized sounds so nice, I'm jealous!!! lol

@joannadavison I'm glad the funeral went well. I hope you enjoy the museum and Christmas shopping, I'm sure it's a madhouse!!!

@trooworld I can relate with the the 5am wakeup call. Half the time my cats wake me up at 5:30. It’s really a pain….gummy yeah I don’t know what he meant. I think just like he was trying to move my arm shoulder, and it was like moving through a swamp or something. He said something about the connective tissue? I don’t understand but when I see my regular trainer again I’ll ask him. At the end of the day, it’s just overuse/overworked muscles I think.

@theslightedgeforever- see above….I don’t really understand the explanation. But I had goals to do some soft tissue work to help it and now I’m really motivated, and I think I will have to cut down my computer and phone time, because that is really contributing to the problem. I’ve been trying to learn how to use my phone left handed lol. …and you don’t nag! You have so many good suggestions and approaches, it’s amazing. You could be a coach for someone. I hope you enjoy your time away and have a great xmas!

@joannadavison I’m the glad the funeral was meaningful.

@TeresaW1020 yeah planks are hard…it has taken me years to appreciate them…a lot of people will favour one side when exercising, just try to be mindful of it. That’s one reason why dumbbells are so good instead of barbells, it forces both sides to work.

I have done acupuncture before with this RMT. I like it better than massage. It actually hurts less. It’s not the traditional Eastern acupuncture, it’s kind of a mix- he does some massage and some acupuncture, and the acupuncture – they actually run an electric current through the needle. It is very mild, it feels funny but it doesn’t hurt. It stimulates the muscle somehow and helps it relax. It's like a shortcut instead of having him massage it. I find it really helpful. My arm is bruised a bit though. The massage part was crazy painful but I felt better after.

Lol at sampling all the casseroles. Well when duty calls what can you do?..It’s so funny you just want to pack up your house- so how quickly do you take the decorations down?

My work is FINALLY done and I’m so happy. Off for two weeks. Will probably indulge in too much xmas cheer, but some exercise too. Today I’m off to get some groceries, it will probably be a madhouse. Tomorrow gym in the am and friends in the pm.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone!

    Merry Christmas Eve!! :)

@joannadavison, glad to read that our DH is doing ok and that his work was kind to him with the days off. I’ve worked retail before so I know how hard it can be. The museum sounds fun! :)

@trooworld, bummer you had to get up so early but at least you didn’t have to go to work! B)

@its_cleo, I’m glad your arm feels better after your treatment. It sounds like a Tens Unit that I’ve done on my back. For awhile I was going to this chiropractor kinesiologist and he would hurt me so badly with his crazy massage methods, but my pain would be gone when I left his office. I had a total love/hate relationship with him. :D I put my Christmas up extra early this year so I think I’m more sick of it than usual. I will probably start tearing it down on Thursday or Friday. I plan to do a whole bunch of reorganization so it will take a few days. I hope you have a wonderful two weeks off from work!! <3

@theslightedgeforever, yes, I’m working on my goals for 2020! The one thing that I know for sure is that it’s going to be more about digging deep into why I do what I do and less about trying to find that magic “plan” that will give me what I want. I’ve been listening to Mel Robbins and just joined up for her free #BestDecadeEver course. She wrote the 5 Second Rule. I assume you have heard of her. What do you think? :)

Good morning! Finally, the rainy cold weather is gone and it’s a beautiful sunny day that is going up to 60 degrees. My kind of Christmas weather! I’m heading out in a few to get to Trader Joes as soon as they open their doors in the hopes of beating the traffic. My town gets crazy because people flood in from all the smaller towns to shop. Once back home I will do day 19 of 21 Day Fix and then this evening is our candlelight service at church. I volunteered to watch the littles in the nursery, so it won’t be as peaceful for me, but that is OK. :) I can’t wait for tomorrow!! Did I tell you all that hubby is taking me to see the movie Little Women tomorrow at noon? It’s the first of my Christmas presents! After the movie, we will come home and drink spiked coffee and open gifts. I am truly like a 5-year-old at Christmas and LOVE presents!! I wish you all a very happy day! <3

Hello everyone! I have to go to the grocery store today and I'm NOT looking forward to it. The only thing I have going for me is that I'm going at 7:30 a.m...hopefully before everyone else. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all!

@its_cleo yeah, I'm used to getting up that early anyway so half the time I'm up before the alarm anyway lol. Well, gummy or whatever, I hope your shoulder gets better soon! <3 I've had similar kind of acupuncture when they run electricity through needles. I have to go to the grocery store, too, I'm going to go at 7:30 when hopefully it will be quiet. Enjoy your Christmas!!!

@theslightedgeforever I hope you are enjoying your holiday. Thanks for the reminder about goals.

@TeresaW1020 Yes! And I did get some things done, so that was good. I think your cold rainy weather came over here lol. It's been raining since yesterday and is supposed to rain through Friday. I hope you enjoy the movie, did you read the book? I haven't but I know a lot of people love it.

@teresaw1020 I hadn't heard of Mel Robbins. I'll go look her up. Can't believe we're starting a new decade. Some of my 'why's I found in Judith Beck's Diet Traps. Plus I just did her Beck Diet Solution book as my last 100 day book for the year. I think both of those has helped me tremendously. How was the movie? 21 Day Fix- almost finished. I still like their little containers.

@trooworld I read Little Women probably when I was about 11. I wonder if they kept the movie true to the book or modernized it. Did you track your food this week?

@retiredandlovingit Happy Birthday Haven't you heard birthday calories don't count.

@RCPV Well if you think about it, we ARE soldiers fighting the Battle of the Bulge. ;) Welcome aboard.

@its_cleo hope acupuncture + treatment helps. Shoulder pain awful.
    @RCVP welcome

I thought I'd posted last night- clearly pressed wrong button!
I actually took time for myself- 7 weeks of sheer stress & challenge- I was totally selfish! DH was at work, youngest went to my Mam's (she lives literally around the corner)- she was making ready meals for her Gran (my Mam) & Grandma (DH's Mam) for Christmas. Eldest resting as felt ill.
I had session with trainer at gym, quick coffee shop lunch, then fingers & toes painted on Christmas offer & ultrasound &deep massage.
The 3 of us went to Christingle service at church then I started a downstairs deep clean!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS- I'm now watching/listening too a High Roman Catholic Mass on TV- I'm Methodist so a tad lesss formal. Singing lovely.
Have a fabulous day whatever you're up to.

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas if you celebrate that, or Happy Hanukkah if you celebrate Hanukkah! I have it rather easy this year as far as cooking goes: I just had to make an apple cake and make a salad. DH has to cook a ham and mashed potatoes, and then my sister-in-law has to make the sides. Hopefully, it will be an early day for us: we are supposed to go over there at 1:00. It's going to rain hard and I don't want to be out on the roads. My reading goal this year was to read 35 books over the course of the year. I've read 33. I'm determined to read 2 more by the end of the year. NOW...they can be graphic novels or novellas, so right now, I'm halfway through a 240-page graphic novel. ;) I'm also reading a 66-page novella, which will count. I just need to finish them by Tuesday night!!!

@RetiredAndLovingIt Happy belated birthday and Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah to you as well! :D

    @RCPV lol...

@theslightedgeforever I was just thinking about this when I signed in this morning. I did not track this week. At all. Not one bite. But my goal is to track the next meal after Christmas dinner (Christmas dinner will be too hard to track, as I am not making the majority of the recipes and I can't measure the portions).

@joannadavison I'm so glad you took time for yourself. That's really important, how are you going to care for others if you are not taking care of yourself?

@joannadavison Not self-ish but self-caring. You absolutely deserved that pampering. You always have such neat stuff going on in your life. I had to go look up Christingle. I was thinking Kris Kringle but realized it was in a church so that couldn't be right. So Christmas is almost technically finished. No waiting til the New Year to start taking care of that liver. What's your food plan for the day?

@trooworld Good for you for hitting your reading goal. I am not liking this month's choice for bookclub. We meet next week. Beartown is the name. It got good reviews on goodreads. It's just too light for me. More like a young adult book. You can eyeball the portions when you are out. Practice measuring food at home to see what 1 c of stew or pasta looks like on your plate. or 1 c of veggies. 1/2 c. etc. While the exact calorie count will not be there, you can get very close. Even if I don't know how others prepare the food, I always look at the MFP database and pick either homemade or a similar type restaurant and then choose the one in the middle calorie range. I also use the serving utensils as measuring cups. or a baseball=1 c lightbulb=1/2 c deck of cards=3 oz golf ball=2 T. I also just take a pic of my plate when I'm out so it helps me remember what I ate if I can't immediately enter in my food.
I hope your rainy weather clears up. How depressing.

@theslightedgeforever That's too bad. I hope next month's is more your style. I haven't started the book for my book club yet, but we don't meet until late in January so I have time. Afternoon all,
I skimmed the notes, I am so sorry I can't seem to get on here everyday. I am so trying to get into a routine. The mornings do not work for me at all. I am always rushed, between the baby, shower, dressing and out the door at 6:30. I don't seem to get to bed until midnight anymore and that too is not healthy . So just working on daily steps each day. I am so tired of the rain and cold. However, I am grateful NO SNOW where I am. LOL

I am believing that 2020 will be so much better in all ways. I am trying to sit down and work on some goals for the next year. It of course will be an ongoing process, it's called life.

@RCPV I laughed when I read World War, maybe we should have named it that. Sometimes it feels like a war....LOL

@trooworld I love that you read and that you met your goals . I came from a family of readers, but my DH did not...We are a mix of readers and non readers...the world is just better if you can be taken someplace else even for 15 min...

@joannadavison That was so nice of your DH company..family first...I am glad it went well.

@TeresaW1020 I think in spiritual or physical things we have to know why before we can fight it..and win..so great plan for 2020.

@RetiredAndLovingIt congrats on turning 70...my birthday was this week, but too much drama so no overeat...LOL

@theslightedgeforever you are doing great during the holidays!!

@its_cleo enjoy your 2 weeks off!!!

@trooworld That's good you have a bit of time left to read. Have you had a chance to get on your bike this week? I finally did some weights today. (one of my goals) But the rest of the day didn't go as planned so that was all I got in. But at least I did that.

@cbabie How about getting on in the evening after the baby is in bed? No, I went over calories 3 days before Christmas but I still stayed within my carb plan. And the scale is up a bit to show that I went over. But I did make good choices as far as my plan was concerned. It's a process like you say.

@trooworld, the movie was wonderful!! Yes, I read the book more than once when I was a young girl and I’ve seen every movie done. I highly recommend it! How’s the reading going? I just downloaded Audible and got my first book on it. I’m thinking that if I can make myself actually sit and read maybe I can at least listen to books while I piddle around doing stuff. :)

@RetiredAndLovingIt, happy belated birthday! <3 Seventy isn’t old at all!! My husband will be 77 this coming May and I don’t see him as old. And one of my best girlfriends at church is 85 and is such a role model on how to age without getting “old.” ;)

@cbabie, it’s good to see you whenever you can get on. Do you have a plan for 2020? It looks like you really need to work on carving out some quality time for yourself. <3

@theslightedgeforever, the movie was great! The acting was so good. They stuck very close to the book but switched it up a bit by weaving the ending in with the early years of the girl’s lives. You should totally see it! :)

Good morning! So, I caught a cold after watching the littles in the nursery on Christmas Eve. My Facebook did one of those reminders from last year and I was sick with a cold on Christmas day then too! Next year I am NOT working in the nursery!! :# I had a wonderful Christmas with my DH. We loved the movie and then came home to open gifts and eat yummy beef stew and drink wine. We went out shopping yesterday (I didn’t tell him how crappy I was feeling!) and I got some great deals on Christmas decorations for next year. I started taking down my Christmas yesterday afternoon and hopefully will feel well enough to get the rest done by today or tomorrow. I just want to go into the New Year with my house in order and then work on getting the weight I’ve put on this month off! Eggnog, fruitcake, wine, and bread sure is tasty until I go and step on the scale! :o:s:/

Hello all. I went for a nice long walk with DH yesterday (he was off) before making ham and bean soup out of our Christmas day ham. I made cornbread to go with it. It came out really well.

@cbabie I hope you can find time to get more sleep...it's so important for our health. I hope 2020 will be better for us all, I do believe it will be, too! <3 Yes, I agree, reading can take you places when you are in a bad place. It saved my life when I was a kid! (That sounds melodramatic, but really!) 2.4 hours of sleep...wow, that isn't good!

@theslightedgeforever No, I don't know if I'm going to ride the bike but I've gone for walks, which is part of my goals. I'm glad you did some weights, that's great!

@TeresaW1020 I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. I finished my 35 books for the year, a combination of reading and listening, and so I am going to shoot for 36 books for next year. I have an Audible membership I love it. I listen in the car on the way to work or when I'm running errands. I listen to audiobooks while I'm cooking in the kitchen (I blast it through my Amazon Echo or via my headphones). Or, while I'm walking. I hope you enjoy. What's your first book? I'm sorry you caught a cold again this year, I'm sure it's easy to do working around all those little ones. I'm glad you had a nice Christmas.

    EMPOWERED.
December goals: track 5 days a week, drink 50 oz of liquids a day, go for a walk 2 times a week, lose 1 lb

Quick pop in. Have one last Christmas celebration today. Then home for a few days then off to the city for a few days for New Years. Plan is to get back on track with eating and exercising Jan 3. Can’t wait. Feel like crap.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

Hi all, thanks for the birthday wishes. We had Christmas with IA dd & family on Christmas Eve & Day & now have come down to OK today to be with dd & gkids here for a week.

@trooworld. Good job reading..I should do more of that than I do. Good job with the walk, too. We got in a few long walks last week when the weather was so nice. (50’s)

@theslightedgeforever Good job sticking to your carb plan. I seem to have abandoned all plans, need to get with it again. At least, I have done some walking!

@cbabie. Wow, 2 1/2 hrs! I don’t know how you function..there is no way I could do that! Hopefully things settle down for you. & belated Happy Birthday!

@TeresaW1020 Hope your cold goes away quickly! Glad you had a nice Christmas & enjoyed the movie.

Well, might be mia while we are here, so hope everyone has a great & safe New Years Eve & the start to 2020.
