@cbabie That's why kids need mandatory bedtimes. You know me. lol My motto was your day is done, mine is not. I'm glad you are finding your healthy self again.
@teresaw1020 Do I need to send you a reminder of this before Christmas season next year like FB does? "Eggnog, fruitcake, wine, and bread sure is tasty until I go and step on the scale!" I have a group of cards I keep for thoughts like this to remind me. I'm supposed to be reading them daily which I was until the past couple of weeks. I need to get back into that habit again. Oh I listened to that lady you told me about. She's good. Hope you feel better.
@trooworld Yaaaay on your walk. I love ham and bean soup especially with cornbread. I've tried listening to books and I think my mind wanders too much. I always end up losing the plot. I'm a much more visual person. Especially if the reader is slow. OMG, I can read it faster. I am sore from my weights. I really concentrated on opening my chest and I can feel it.
@renaegry I have an after Christmas party tomorrow so another thing that must be planned out. I've done much better this year than last year.
@retiredandlovingit I've been sticking with the carb plan but I've been over a few days on calories while I was away. So I'm up about 1.5 lbs which is not where I want to be but it is what it is as my dad would say. It will come back off. The good news is that I'm making a habit of sticking within my carbs and staying in control. Yaaay on your walking. Enjoy time with family in OK, although you're missing all the good weather in IA. lol
I need to go write @trishastime and see if she's okay.

@trooworld, the first book I got is Atomic Habits by James Clear. I’m hoping he can give me some new insights on how to make 2020 my year to succeed. Hubby bought me some new jigsaw puzzles, so I plan to listen to books while working on my puzzles. I just need to get my house clean first!!
@renaegry, I hear you about wanting to get back on track. I don’t know why we go so far off every year only to be full of regret. It’s like that Groundhog movie!
@theslightedgeforever, yes please do send me a reminder! Maybe one before any major holiday would be a good idea. Yeah, I like Mel Robbins so far. I’m going to do her free course on making this the best decade ever. I figure it can’t hurt and it just might be the breakthrough I’ve been searching for.
Good morning! My cold is better. I went to bed last night at 8 pm and slept until 7:30 am. I did manage to pack up all the Christmas decorations yesterday, but the house is a mess and I still need to put back all my regular knick-knacks. I also want to reorganize my kitchen and pantry. Hubby bought me a Soda Stream and a small food processor for Christmas, and I need to figure out where they will live. One thing at a time but I’m determined to be fully ready for the New Year with a clean and organized house. Then I can concentrate on losing this stinking extra weight of mine!

Morning all, we are all goal setting for the new year. I read something today in Jesus Calling that made me stop and think. I know I am not content where I am and I believe we should always be working on improvement. I don't want to be stagnant, it "smells" . LOL . I decided not to give you my thoughts on this, except to know somethings we are not in control of, with the exception of how we deal or handle it. Our food, exercise, our thoughts, we are in control of. So going forward into 2020, what are some things you/I are going to work on that we are in control of? Who will be our buddy system to encourage us, listen to us, we can set goals, but we need someone to helps us stay accountable to our goals. Not in a negative manner, but encouragement. We may not like when someone calls us to task, but in the end if they HELPED us reach our goals, we are VERY grateful.
Yes one of my goals is my sleep, it is VERY unhealthy. Always has been. With a 16 month old teether in the house I am caretaker of...it's a challenge. However, I should be able to figure a way to get some rest during the day if 2.4 hours of sleep is all I got that night.
@theslightedgeforever let us know if you get ahold of Trishastime...keep working your carb plan. It's working for you
@TeresaW1020 Keep moving forward.. I love that you don't give up and continue in your journey to find the "right" path for your health and your husband supports you.
@trooworld I wish I could read 35 books..I am working on my reading list for this year. I used to love to listen to books when my job had me in my car so much. I never thought I could "listen" to a book, but in the end, it help me not to feel as if my drive time was a waste. LOL
@renaegry Hope you enjoy the rest of this year and I know you will get back to eating better after the holidays!
@RetiredAndLovingIt enjoy your family and we will see you after the new year. Thank you for the birthday wishes.

Good morning everyone! This cold weather makes me want to bake lol. I made my husband his favorite cookies last night (pecan sandies).
@renaegry You sound busy lol. I'm glad you had a nice holiday.
@RetiredAndLovingIt I do as much as I do because I set a goal and because a lot of it is audiobooks that I listen to on the way to work. If I didn't have a goal, I don't know how much I'd get done. Last year, my goal was only 10! I stepped it up after reading 22 books last year. I'm glad you had nice enough weather to get in some nice long walks.
@theslightedgeforever Thank you! I don't know if I said, but the other day when I met my friend, we also went for a walk. I also love ham and bean soup (but my digestive system doesn't love it lol). That's too bad about audiobooks. You can speed up the narration, you know. I don't know if that would help you though, if your mind wanders. I used to like being sore from the weights, it made me feel like I really worked hard lol. I hope your soreness goes away fast. By the way, I tracked today.
@TeresaW1020 That sounds like a great first book! My officemate lent me some puzzles but I've been too busy to put them together. We did attempt one but it was too hard!!! It was 1,000 pieces and a picture of mountains in silhouette, all similar colors (purples and pinks). It drove us batty so we gave up!!! I'm glad your cold is better. Good luck with organizing!
@cbabie I really need to think about my 2020 goals. I sucked so badly at my monthly goals in 2019, I'm afraid to set goals for 2020! lol I depend on you all for encouragement and gentle nudging, and you all do such a marvelous job of it. In real life, my husband is pretty decent at it, as are my friends, but I don't see them enough. I do hope you can find a way to get more sleep. Maybe your reading goal is smaller, but it's good to have a reading goal. That's how I feel about my drive time, I feel like at least I'm being semi-productive lol.
EMPOWERED.
December goals: track 5 days a week, drink 50 oz of liquids a day, go for a walk 2 times a week, lose 1 lb1 -
It sounds like everybody had a good Christmas! Mine was ok, quiet. I ate ok, but my weight is still up, I think bc some of the food was salty. Also I definitely drank too much lol.
@trooworld that is an amazing number of books! I used to read a ton and then I just stopped. Now it’s very rare. But I’ve been trying to find something to listen to- I was thinking about podcasts, but maybe I should get audio books. When I do my stretching and mobility work, it’s so boring, I like to listen to something.
@cbabie, yeah sleep is very important. I had insomnia for years, ever since I was 17 or 18. It is better now, but periodically it still crops up. I think it’s a good goal to work on- I hope it improves for you.
My goals for the new year are to continue the things I was working on. Drink less. Do more regular mobility/soft tissue work to help me. I feel like it sounds dumb but my muscles get so tense I end up in pain. Like my wrist. So I am trying to take better care!
@TeresaW1020 glad you’re getting your house back in order! And I’m glad you liked the movie. I read Little Women but it was a long time ago. I don’t remember the story very much. The movie looked nice.
@theslightedgeforever sorry you got the muscle pains! I hope it eases.
@retiredandlovingit I hope you have a great New Years!
Today I tried to get some exercising in- I ran, but it was a bit rough as I haven’t been active the last few days. I’ll also get some groceries. I have the coming week off so I may get out and do some shopping I’m not sure yet. I don’t really need anything but I have some extra money. I may buy a couple new shirts for the gym, you know the technical fabric ones.
New Year’s I was going to stay home but a friend invited me to a house party. I want to go but I’m kind of sick of drinking. So I may take wine for the host (I don’t drink wine) and some light beer or something for myself. I typically would never drink light beer, but I feel like it’s a good compromise between drinking too much and not drinking at all.

@teresaw1020 I hope you find what you're looking for with the habits. I'm starting my new 100 day book on the 1st, Mini Habits for Weight Loss by Steven Guise. I've got my template all finished. I and two other ladies read these books and comment on it every day. Kind of like a daily book club. But we've all lost 20-30 lbs this year so far. So I guess it's working. I guess it works out to almost 7-10 lbs a book. I never finished Atomic Habits. So one day I'll go back and finish that one.
@cbabie I'll be working on my health and my procrastination tendencies in 2020. I was thinking about you in the car and wasting time and Dad came to mind. Put the pedal to the metal and get on home.
@trooworld Baking is fine, it's the eating too much that's a problem. lol I went to a gathering and took some really good cookies, I will say. Basically a choc chip recipe cookie recipe, only I switched it to all white chips, and added 1/3 c slivered pistachios and 1/3 cup dried cranberries. I was good and only ate one. No let me rephrase that. I'm always good. So I made good choices at the party and only ate one cookie. woohoo! on your tracking and walking. Now make it 2 days in row. So if you didn't meet your goals for 2019, that means they were set too high. So lower them down a bit. Success breeds motivation. Where are you right now versus where you want to be? If you are on a ladder, you can't climb from the bottom rung straight to the top. You have to take it one rung at a time. What is the next rung on your ladder. That's your 2020 January goal. (For a moment, I thought "rung" doesn't seem like the right word here. So I stopped to google it. lol Yes I was correct, moving on......)
@its_cleo Sounds like you are ready for 2020. Any kind of progress is progress. Enjoy the New Year party and concentrate on the people and music to give you a good time.
I went to an end of year party and did well for the day. Like I just told cleo, I concentrated on the music and people.
Green Day Stayed OP- 220/238 carbs Exercise-36 min walking
I had two NSV: I had a dress that has been hanging in my closet that was a bit too tight and so I thought now I should be able to wear it. It's too big in the chest area now. So that goes in the give-away pile. The other one was a black wide belt. I thought maybe I could use the belt to cinch in the dress and make it appear smaller from the top. The belt was too big. I would have had to make a new hole. So that goes in the give-away pile too. Darn, I really liked that belt. But I hardly ever wore it thinking it would draw attention to my big stomach. Now I get to go shop for another nice belt that catches my eye.

Morning all,
I spent some time yesterday working on my calendar, reset my password for Trello Board. I am hoping to get some of ME back that I lost the last couple of years due to Life happenings. I used to be so organized, on track, focused...then life hit in the middle of my forehead. I didn't do that well eating, but when you are not eating sugar foods...it lessons the choices this time of year that is in the house. LOL . I even started working on my cross stitch again yesterday. (it's 21 years old) I never finished it and I feel like I need to complete something creative. LOL
@its_cleo I believe you ready for 2020..yes go buy some exercise clothes..always makes me feel better to be dressed the part. LOL . My wrist has really been hurting, but I took that part time job and more typing, now the cross stitch and I am typing more at home again. So I am hoping this too shall pass.
@theslightedgeforever great job on the NSV's..too bad you have to give them away and buy new. LOL . I like that you already have your sheet done and are ready to begin 2020. Yes I STILL put the pedal to the metal...LOL
@trooworld I think that slightedge gave some good advice...( don't get a big head sis) . set some smaller goals and as you achieve them, you can grow them. Read while on your bike? Sometimes I set too big a goal and then I want to quit. I am learning small bites still eat the elephant...it just takes a little longer and I don't CHOKE.
Alright gals, I have to get me and the baby ready for church.

@cbabie, I am working on what I want 2020 to look like and the steps I can do to achieve my goals. What really has stuck with me the last couple of months is that it’s not about the how as much as the why. Why do I want to lose weight? Why do I keep sabotaging myself? Why can’t I get my act together and do what I know to do? Why don’t I just give up and stop trying? Lots of why’s and I need to figure them out. Yes!! We need our buddy system to help us. We need encouragement and accountability. For me, that is this group. You all have become like my sisters where together we share our day together. I love how we share the good, the bad, and even the ugly. I have my group Fat2Fit to help me hold myself accountable and to help motivate and encourage my members on my team. I have my husband who is truly incredible with his support and the occasionally needed kick in the butt. And then there is my mighty God, who is my true source and without Him, I can truly do nothing. I really hope you start taking your sleep seriously and make yourself a priority.
@trooworld, haha! I am the complete opposite with puzzles. The harder the better. I really love 2000-piece puzzles, but 1000 pieces are good too. One of the puzzles hubby bought me is a panorama of flamingos standing in pink water with a pink and purple sky. It is going to be crazy! Pecan Sandies are one of my favorite cookies too!!
@its_cleo, have fun at the party! Your plan to bring the light beer is a good one as long as you enjoy it enough to make it worth it. Hubby bought me a bottle of champagne, which is my favorite drink of choice and we are going to stay in and play Scrabble and enjoy a fire in our fireplace. We haven’t had a fire yet in it and I’m hoping the dog won’t lose her mind when she sees it.
@theslightededgeforever, that is so great that you have your friends to do the 100-day book with. Obviously, it’s working since you have all lost weight! I’m going to start listening to the Atomic Habits today and hope that he has some amazing insights for me. Yayyy for the awesome NSV’s!!
Good morning! I slept in again this morning and my cold is much better. I am playing hooky from church today since we don't have Sunday school this week and I can use having a cold as an excuse. Hubby is supporting me on this since he thinks my immune system is in a weakened state. I am going to try to do a workout in a bit. It will be the last one of the 21-Day Fix and tomorrow I want to begin a new program called LIIFT 4 so that I can be on the same calendar timeline that the trainer uses. It's an 8 week program and gets tons of great reviews from the Beachbody crowd. We will see!0 -
Hi all! Well, it's been nice having the week off but now I have to go back to work tomorrow for two days and then I have another day off. Today, I'm doing some cooking for the week. I'm cooking:
Easy Pressure Cooker Pork Chile Verde + Instant Pot Refried Beans
NYE: a bunch of appetizers...Korean Fried Chicken Wings + Spinach-Artichoke Dip + Italian Straws + chinese dumplings
Instant Pot Swedish Meatballs
@its_cleo I'm glad you had a good Christmas. My weight is probably up, I am avoiding the scale! re: the books...thank you! I also listen to podcasts. You should try an audiobook. You can get them for free from the library, so it wouldn't cost you anything to try it out. Remember that you can slow down or speed up the narration. It sounds like you came up with a good plan for NYE. We are just staying home and having champagne and appetizers.
@theslightedgeforever Well, here's the thing about my baking I've done the past few days: I've had two servings and then taken the leftovers over to my in-law's house for them to consume. I figure it gets it out of the house and treats them at the same time! Yesterday, I made sticky orange cinnamon rolls. Out of the house they went. No more baking. It was just while I was off. Your cookies sound yummy and festive. I pre-tracked today as well, so I'm on a roll kind of lol. I don't know what to do for my health goals: when I set personal goals not having to do with health, I seem motivated by them and can achieve them. But for some reason, when I set health goals, I seem to shoot myself in the foot...if I set weight goals, that's definitely a bad idea. Exercise goals are bad, too. It's like my mind rebels against those lol. Any thoughts? Congrats on your NSVs!!!
@cbabie That's great that you got some "me" time in. And I love that you did something creative, yay!!! Yes, she did. I just asked her for some more advice lol. Hopefully, she doesn't start charging us lol. I keep making smaller and smaller goals, eventually they will work out!
@TeresaW1020 Oh my gosh, you are bananas girl! That puzzle sounds HARD! Yes, those cookies were so good, you would have loved them. Take care of yourself, get better!

@cbabie Looks like you are getting ready for 2020. Good for you. This could be your year.
@teresaw1020 I knew the why's and I knew the how's but yet I still struggled. Finally I figured out for me it's changing the self-sabotaging thoughts. I write out the thought and then I come up with a proper response to it. Then using the same thoughts over time I have created a new pathway in my brain for it to recognize. I can see it happening in my food. Today it worked on the exercise and now I'm beginning to use it on the procrastination part of my life. I also learned it's not finding the next new shiny toy to help me. It's playing with the old toy and sticking with it but just tweaking it a bit. Playing hooky is fun.
@trooworld I made your vegetarian lentil chili from a couple of weeks ago. It was good. Tomorrow I'm putting the leftovers on some hot dogs. Go get on your scale. You can't change what you don't acknowledge. Courtesy of Dr. Phil. lol My scale is up a couple of pounds and I have followed my plan each day and stuck with my carb boundaries. My body didn't like the three days of going over on calories. But it will come back down eventually if I just stick with my plan each day. But it sucks seeing that higher number knowing I have been exercising and tracking each day and saying no and taking less portions. But lesson learned is my body doesn't like the extra calories. Oh well, moving on. Yummy. Orange cinnamon rolls. Good for you for getting rid of the leftovers. So with the health goals, it sounds like your mind is labeling those health/exercise goals as "shoulds" So you are rebelling against them. Now you need to figure out how to change those shoulds to "wants" Why do you want to eat healthier? For me, I don't necessarily eat "healthier" That word takes away my chocolate for me. It puts in images of cottage cheese and celery sticks. Blech. So maybe why do you want to eat less than you do now? it still goes back to tracking, I think. How will you know if you if you are eating less, if you don't track? So why not just concentrate on tracking. That's it. Nothing more. In my mind I knew I needed to do food, exercise, and water but still don't drink enough water. The exercise is coming a long but not always what I want. I'm proud of myself on the food right now. Part of me fears what if I stop doing it and go back to how I was. (Cause that's happened in the past) The trick is to not stop. If I do take a pause, just get going again. It's really all in my head. I'm the one in control. That's why I told Teresa, I'm working on changing my thoughts. So tracking. Where are you on the tracking ladder. Which rung? Your top rung was 5 days a week in December. The floor is not tracking at all. Which rung are you on? Instead of days, would tracking meals be easier for you? Some people have all or nothing thinking so if they track breakfast and lunch but forget to write down their snack and dinner, they say they failed for the day and give themselves a big fat zero. Give yourself credit for the things that you do. You don't even have to keep your same goal for the whole month. Tweak it each week. If you are tracking one meal a day on some days and not tracking at all on other days then your goal would be tracking one meal each day. Til you are doing that consistently. Then move on to tracking two meals each day. Eventually the thoughts of "I have to put my food in" while you are sitting at the table eating will become second nature. What's even better is to just preplan the night before or in the morning your whole day.

Morning everyone! Well, I didn't get any cooking done except for dinner yesterday. It's a good thing that we have Weds off lol.
@theslightedgeforever I'm glad you liked the lentil chili. Over hot dogs sounds good. Okay, I see your point about weighing. I'll weigh as soon as my husband is out of the bathroom. It's not going to be pretty, I know. I'm afraid it's going to be the number that I fear: the highest number I've ever hit. I'll get back to that in a minute when I weigh. Now to tracking...I think you are on to something. If I just concentrate on tracking, the rest will follow maybe? I am an all-or-nothing person. It's something I'm working on, but not quite over. Thank you for your thoughtful input, I really appreciate it. Okay, I got on the scale. I gained 5.4 lbs since 12/9, which was the last time I got on the scale. Almost the highest weight but not quite.

@trooworld at least you can look forward to how it will feel to get the weight back down again. It’s the holidays, it’s natural to be up a bit. Tracking took me along time to get in the habit of always doing it. Now I do it, even if I’ve eaten way over. If nothing else, it lets me see trends over time. …on a side note I love lentils in chili. I;ve been trying to add more lentils and beans in some of my recipes but I keep forgetting. I want to add to boost the protein count.
@theslightedgeforever, I think you’re really smart in the way you tackle your thoughts and I’m sure it’s part of your success. Trust me, I’ve had a TON of therapy and a lot of that stuff is what they teach you. In one group I did, we would write down blinders and gateways. A blinder was a negative thought that would hold you back ie I suck or I can’t do this or whatever. And a gateway was the positive thought. It helps to write it down and put it out in the open. And then challenge your thinking.
Goal setting- we would do weekly goals, and each week write down goals and accomplishments, and then if we kept missing a goal we would adjust it or work on why. It really did help….
@TeresaW1020 this group helps me too. I feel like I have a team, my trainer and people here…it’s nice to have support. I love puzzles! I have a 1000 one but I never seem to get to it. I also never know what to do with them when they’re done. What do you do with yours?
@cbabie never too late to do the cross stitch! I learned to crochet 20 years ago, and I used to make a lot of blankets. Then I got out of the habit but I still have the last squares I made- like 15 years ago! I keep thinking one day I’ll get to it lol.
So I had a good day. My trainer was away. While he was away, I was training with another guy (backup trainer). Now these are both young, attractive, super fit guys, they are also genuinely the nicest nicest people. So there was a mixup and regular trainer came back early and emailed me yesterday and asked if I wanted to work out. But I couldn’t because I thought he was away so I scheduled some time with backup trainer. This was for today. So today I went in to see backup trainer, and then regular trainer showed up and it was fun bc the two of them were like teasing, like arguing who would train with me, and the backup trainer was like we should both do it we can train her together….it was fun. Don’t think I’ve ever had two guys like that fighting over me lol. They like me for some reason lol. I think bc I’m all in on exercising and go all out and have fun with it.
Still struggling with my wrist hurting. I think it’s my computer or mouse? I have no idea. I’ve been looking into ergonomic mice. Also I realized my computer chair is not great but I’m trying to tinker with it, because a good ergonomic one is expensive.
I hope you guys have a great new year’s!

Oh I meant to ask- do you guys get random friend requests and what do you do?0

Afternoon all,
I came home from work exhausted, no sleep is starting to show..LOL . I fell asleep in the chair..but baby. . She is taking a nap now and I just finished reading all the post from today. My wrist is killing me, but I think it's the weather. It's cold and damp here, plus I am typing again at work.
@TeresaW1020 I have a friend that is a coach for beach buddy, she is trying to get me to join her group..still not ready. I have to get my wrist and sleep in order and not take on another thing. I am sure your immune system is down...holidays and Children's Ministry will do that to you. I am sure you will figure out what works for you!! I am proud that you are still trying, do you know how many people say this is what it is and stop?
@trooworld Congrats on getting on the scale. My mom always said forewarned is forearmed. So now you know what you are starting with and can win. I love you took so graciously what my dear sis says. ( she does give prodding questions for us to review) . LOL Great idea on eating some and giving the rest away....so I think you see you can overcome the all or nothing thought process..I am STILL working on that one. LOL
@its_cleo I love that you are so into the fitness training. I used to be, but wrist says NO..I agree, this board keeps me going. I am so grateful for each person here. We all bring something different to the "table". I had a bedspread like that. It took me forever to get it done...but when I did, it stayed with my decor forever. LOL . It was so warm in the wintertime. You will finish it someday or you would have already thrown it out.
@theslightedgeforever Well I hope this year is my year. I am so ready..been a long haul since my mom passed away. Seems like life just was not the same. I can hear her saying...(my given birth name, including middle) LOL
I am grateful that you share what you have learned on here to help others, I am grateful that you are the encourager you are...Thank you.
Gals we have a great bunch of women on this board. I believe that each one of us have been placed here for "such a time as this" to help each other and be a gift to each other. Thank you for coming to this board and being transparent and real. I hope that you each have a great New Year with all your dreams coming true. I am claiming 2020 as my year to get ME back..

@trooworld Look at it this way, if that number is the highest you've ever hit, then you will be that much more of a success. That's the way I look at it. Lost 50 lbs and kept it off versus lost 30 lbs and kept it off. It just sounds better. lol Kudos for weighing in. Sometimes hard to face it but its all just data. It's not who you are.
@its_cleo Woohoo on tracking daily. Yes, it's become second nature to me. My body knows what I ate even if I didn't write it down. I love that terminology- Blinders and gateways. I'll start using those. Sometimes all it takes is a shift in perception. Also love the weekly goal advice. Thanks. I kept my unfinished cross stitch pillow case for 20+ years. Then one day I decided to throw it away. Every time I looked at it reminded me of how I "didn't finish what I started" which was a negative thing. I even took it to my mom once and said would you finish this cause she liked to do that sort of thing. Plus she could keep the pillowcases. She said no. I need to finish what I start. This would be a good lesson for me. Well years later, in the garbage it went. Goodbye guilt, frustration, negative feelings. Having two cute trainer guys would definitely make me want to meet my strength training goal. lol Friend requests: I always accept them. I don't really do anything with them. I figure it might just be someone who is lurking and reading our posts and knows what a great group of gals we have here. But they aren't ready to take the plunge and commit yet. Or I might have a stalker. lol
@cbabie Does it help to wear a wrist support? Yeah, I didn't like when mom called my middle name. I was usually in trouble. lol You know I love to spread my sunshine. That's my purpose in life. I saw a bitmoji today that said This is my year. I'm going to send it to my daughter cause I say that every single year and she just laughs and says sure it is. You say that every year. I'm going to show her THIS year is my year. lol I keep telling her get off the unhealthy road she's on but you know daughters don't want to listen to their wise mothers. She doesn't appreciate all my wonderful advice.

Good morning everyone! New Year's Eve is upon us. I can't believe it's almost 2020. I have to work all day today but am off tomorrow (yay!). Tonight, we are staying home and having champagne and appetizers.
@its_cleo That's true and I hope it's soon! I used to be so good about tracking, like you, I used to do it like it was second nature. I hope to get back to it like that. Lentils are full of protein, so it's great that you want to add them in. That's great that you had two hunky trainers fighting over you!!! You might be right about the mouse thing, my wrist was hurting at work and they gave me a vertical mouse and it helped a lot, my wrist stopped hurting. Do you have an ergonomics specialist at your job that you could consult? The only random friends requests I get is when people are new on here and post here, and then I accept their request. I don't get requests from people that don't post on here. If I did, I'd ignore them because they may be phishing attempts somehow.
@cbabie I'm sorry your wrist is bothering you. Do you ice it at all? Would that help? re: the scale...thanks! Your sis gives great advice (as do you!) and I did ask for her prodding lol. Yeah, the all or nothing is a hard thing to overcome but if we work on it, we can do it! I hope that 2020 is your year, cbabie. You deserve it. You have such a gentle, sweet soul.
@theslightedgeforever lol that's a good way to look at it. Thanks.
EMPOWERED.
December goals: track 5 days a week, drink 50 oz of liquids a day, go for a walk 2 times a week, lose 1 lb0 -
@theslightedgeforever, yes, I agree that the key is to change the way we think and to stop the self-sabotage. I was listening to The Atomic Habits yesterday and he points out that it’s not about the goal but about the processes that get us to where we want to be. My goal is not to be at a certain weight but to become a person who doesn’t let food control me. I know this but for some reason, it feels like it’s just starting to click inside my thick skull. Tweaking the old toy. I like that!!
@its_cleo, I stayed up late working my puzzle and watching TV on my phone. Don’t tell my hubby but I sometimes like it when he goes to bed before me. I have a friend at church who loves to work puzzles so the ones that are easier, I give to her. I have hung onto my 2000 piece puzzles and plan to work them again at some time in the future. What fun to have both trainers fighting over you! And yes get a good ergonomic mouse and chair if you can. I also use one of those mouse pads that have a wrist rest which really helps me.
Oh, and I do get random friend requests and 99% of the time it's from men and they get deleted. I always check and if he only has women for his friends then I feel he doesn’t need to add me to his collection. Funny story is that on FB whenever I post on a news post, which I rarely do, I will always get a friend requests from men in the military. I must be on some sort of list that pops up for them. I tell my husband that he ever leaves me that I won’t need to worry about how to meet my next man.
@cbabie, yes this will be your year!! I pray your wrist improves so that you can get back to working out. I also pray that the baby gets all her teeth so you can get some rest!
@trooworld, I’m also staying in tonight with champagne and appetizers. I bought hubby a Scrabble game and I plan to kick his butt.
Good morning ladies and happy New Year's Eve!! I am working on my goals for next year and I think my word for 2020 is going to be: BECOME. I'm going to strive to become the woman that I want to be. I've got my habit tracker all set to start tomorrow and I even have the owner of the Fit2Fat group going to do a habit tracker for the teams which should be fun and helpful for us all. Yesterday, I started a new Beachbody workout called LIIFT 4 that combines weight lifting and cardio. The trainer is very good and super cute. Going to grocery shop in a bit and run into Ulta to use the gift card hubby gave me for Christmas. Have a great day!!

Been totally off plan. Did well up to Christmas but just crashed in a lot of ways. Went out with girls today & the sadness just crashed over me- had to pull it together as I was driving.
Just turned New Year here- tonight I've pigged out on pizza, cheese & biscuits and prosecco & chambord.
Pressing reset and weighing in tomorrow.
Gym closed but will be there Thurs & Fri. Just signed up for Sea Cadets "My Mighty Marathon" 26 miles in 26 days- your way.
Got a Happy Planner Recipe planner for Christmas- currently going through my old WW recipes for high protein & favourite ones. Off to bed soon.
Happy New Year.

@trooworld Interesting: vertical mouse Have you figured out your January Week 1 goal yet?
@teresaw1020 We will always be a work in progress. Ha on the men friend requests. I have no idea the gender of mine. Nice 2020 word. That fits in with what I'm working on. My new trello board I set up for my habits is entitled HABITS: Who I Want to Become. Must go check out this new cute LIIFT 4 trainer.
@joannadavison As many times as you fall down, you just get back up and try again. Along the way figure out what is making you stumble. There's always the stumble before the fall. You've got your plan in place and you will rock 2020.
Stayed OP 93/100 carbs Exercise-rest day You can tell my New Years Eve is exciting. I'm talking with you all and watching Dick Clark's Rocking Eve. That's what I do every year. I watch the ball drop and hubby sleeps. He says the new year will come whether or not he's awake. One day I want to be in Times Square watching the ball drop live. I need to plan that with my daughter.
January Week 1 goal: 3 glasses of water

Happy New Year! Here comes 2020!
1 -
Good morning everyone! Happy New Year! Well, a new year brings new hope for changes and the first things I am changing is my word for the year. I have decided my word for the year for 2020 will be COMMITTED. I am COMMITTED to this journey, I am COMMITTED to all of you, I am COMMITTED to myself. It seems appropriate. As for my January goals, I am going to K.I.S.S.: I COMMIT to tracking one meal a day and going for one walk a week. Here's to a great 2020!
@TeresaW1020 I hope you kicked your hubby's butt! lol I love your word for 2020. It's powerful and has movement. I love it!
@joannadavison I'm sorry you've been having a tough time. This time of year is rough. I've been a bit off the rails myself. Happy New Year!
@theslightedgeforever Yes, see above. I'm ready. I took a nap between 9:30-11 and then was up from 11-2:30. I found it hard to get back to sleep after that. One thing you need to know about going to Times Square for the ball drop: my sister-in-law used to live in NYC and she said that if you go to Times Square, you have to go there like super early and you are there for hours with no bathroom. Just food for thought. Not to burst your bubble lol.
@its_cleo Happy New Year! I love Snoopy.
COMMITTED.
January goal: track 1 meal a day, go for a walk 1 time a week0 -
@trooworld, love the word of the year! Committed is a great word and it is totally what is required if we are going to have any hope in reaching our goals. I believe that this is going to be an awesome year for us all!!
Happy New Year!! I actually managed to stay up until midnight last night and drank almost a whole bottle of champagne by myself. My last two days of working out with my new BOD program has my poor arms so incredibly sore I can barely move them! Today was a rest day and I have taken full advantage of it. I go back to work tomorrow so vacation is almost over and my to-do list is growing once again.0 -
@theslightedgeforever I have my plan, day one done- protein smashed target but my fat too high- had salmon & eggs- obviously not great together in same day. Carbs way down- pleased. Just another 365 to go!
@its_cleo love the gif
@trooworld I never really stuck to a word of the year- some of my craft friends are great at doing it but I was thinking of the word COMMIT this year- so I love your choice. I' m thinking COMMIT to tracking, to sticking to dietary goals, to improve my fitness & my health.
I usually find January hard because it's anniversaries of my maternal grandparents & my dad & the dark days coupled with weather here doesn't help. Last term (Sept-Dec) was just so stressy generally at work (although I coped mentally with that), but all that remodeling & FiL was ill then better repeatedly from Easter plus DH had back injury which eventually got effective treatment after 4 months (various things tried before more drastic- which worked) so it was all pretty horrible & when work stopped so did my strength & willpower. Today I've bought a nice but cheap & in sale pair of trousers & a nice but cheap new top- both a size bigger- for work. Once I've list about 7lb I'll seriously think about taking trousers in a size as they are a really good find. I just did something nice for me. Partly feels like defeat but took attitude- I want to feel comfortable not fat next week.0 -
Evening guys....I am so glad for 2020. My word for this year is Jubilee. I have a sense of expectation. I am expecting the things we as a family have been going though since at least 2013 ( actually 2010) to be over and life to begin again. I have set a list of books I want to read this year. Picked up my cross stitch again, still have to decide if I am going back to school. I have until March to make that decision. I am going to work on me and my health. I don't sleep enough we know, but one thing at a time. As long as I know I need to make the change there I will be working on it. (help when baby gets this last canine in..)LOL
@joannadavison I am so sorry for your loss and all that you have been through this year. It seems most people don't look back at 2019 with love...LOL . I love that you bought clothes to be comfortable. Our clothes do effect our mental way of thinking. I pray that this year brings JOY into your world.
@TeresaW1020 I LOVE puzzles..we used to glue them on poster board and make pictures out of them. My DH doesn't work them, but me and my youngest daughter used to work them. My oldest would "hammer" it in. I know you are going to find the routine that works for you!!! Its good that you listen to your body.
@trooworld awe...I think my sister would differ with you about my gentle sweet soul..LOL . I love your word and yes you always tracked..you CAN DO IT.. My oldest grandson used to say that all the time when he was little..you can do it...I miss that little boy. He's 25 now..LOL
@its_cleo I loved the cartoon of the TV..I did stay up this year as I wanted to throw 2019 out the door and WELCOME 2020. I just know this will be the year. I get random request and I try to see if I can figure out why they friended me...sometimes I accept and sometimes I don't.
Okay I have to go, but wanted to check in. We got this gals..
@theslightedgeforever Did you ever get ahold of Trishstime? I am concerned about her..
Cbabie0 -
@its_cleo Loved the cartoon. That's me every year. I watch the ball drop then Auld Lang Syne starts playing then I cry and then I sing NY, NY with jazz hands and then wonderful world and now the new year can begin...........
@trooworld Love your new goals that you have COMMITTED to. Hmmm...no bathrooms Thanks for the tip cbabie does have a gentle sweet soul. She took care of me when I was a baby.
@teresaw1020 I feel like saying Start your engines........with 2020. I have my tracker all set up. Ouch on the arms but think of all the sleeveless tops/dresses you'll be able to wear come spring/summer.
@joannadavison Hooray for smashing day 1 target. Now aim for there again. Just imagine how great you'll feel when you get to take those trousers in. All your hard work will pay off soon. I hope you have a better January than in years past.
@cbabie When I read your word for the year it reminded me of a song as a child we used to sing either in church or campmeeting. JUBILEE, jubilee, JUBILEE, jubilee. You've never slept enough. lol OK, for some reason I'm in a singing mood. when you wrote JOY, I sang joy to the world. LOVE became love will keep us together. Got to CAN DO IT and I've got nothing. lol Puzzles: I think alot of our puzzles as a child had to do with lighthouses and boats. Because I really love those. My oldest son sent me a pic today of a lighthouse looking thing on Lake Michigan and said this reminded me of you, Mom. Plus I laugh at how people approach putting together puzzles. I think it's a metaphor for life or working on goals, etc. My strategy which was either taught by you or mom is first you have to lay out all the pieces and search for the corners and flat edges. Corners go in one pile and then flat in another. You have to put those together first and make the border. Then you can work on the middle. I have seen many people just start putting pieces together trying to match them. I'm like you can't do that. There's no order. lol But eventually, they get the puzzle finished. I guess like our goals. We all can get there eventually. It's just the methods are somewhat different. No on Trishastime. I sent her a message but no response yet.
So I started my new 100 day book called Mini Habits. His first goal was 1 push up a day. Make it so small that you will be successful. Well, the day went by and I wasn't successful on my first day. So we'll try again and maybe I need to lower my goal. lol
But on a better note, Red Day- Stayed OP 97/100 carbs Exercise-37 min walking. So glad I get a green day tomorrow.
January Week 1 goal: 3 glasses of water daily.0 -
Good morning everyone! It was nice having the day off yesterday. I caught up on some sleep from the night before and made tonight's dinner as well as last night's dinner. Now, just have to survive the next two days lol.
@TeresaW1020 Thanks! I do hope so. I hope you are rested up by now from your BOD program and ready to go back to work. I'm not ready to go back to work, but here I am going lol.
@joannadavison I think that is excellent! COMMIT is a very strong word. I'm sorry that this time of year brings pain to you. I hope that this year is different.
@cbabie Wonderful word of the year! I have big hopes for the year for us all, you included. Thank you for your support!
@theslightedgeforever cbabie would have to be sweet to take care of you as a baby Keep trying for those pushups, you'll get them. They are harder than people think.
COMMITTED.
January goal: track 1 meal a day, go for a walk 1 time a week0 -
@cbabie thank you. It's only looking back on the year that I realise how tough it actually was. Despite not coping with my eating & fitness one huge plus was my mental health didn't plummet, dipped yes but not rock bottom. I also didn't give up on the health.
What are you thinking of studying? Sounds exciting.
Sleep also problem for me. I went to bed early and slept in. I was planning on gym but I decided just to have restful day.
@theslightedgeforever sorry day 1 didn't go to plan. I've set some pretty major goals this year but I've purposely not written a timescale. Broken down into little chunks & will start with small things & ace them - make them routine & then move on. I totally agree all about the little goals. For me- track, water intake, sleep & adjusted macros slightly (doint this bit by bit)
I really need to do my school planning. I also treated myself to 3 diet & fitness magazines yesterday.
Hi to everyone- how is your new year?0 -
Happy New Years all. Today is the day I start to get back on track. Will be starting slow. Took a huge fall on the ice yesterday and my body is pretty sore and I have a nice bruise on left hip. Plan is over this next week a couple days of brisk walking in treadmill ( using my new air pods while watching Netflix) a few days of weight workout and eating within macros. And drink my water. I have been aweful with that.
I am disappointed that I let myself get back to 160 from 143. I know I will easily drop 5 pounds in a week. But can’t believe I let myself go.
@joannadavison Hi back at you. Which magazines did you buy.
0 -
Hi ladies! Sorry I've been MIA. Travelling between 3 states for the holidays was completely exhausting and overwhelming and I had nothing left in my tank to give. I'm sure I gained back a fair amount, but I tried to stick to my healthy habits as much as possible so hopefully I didn't gain back all of it.
2019 was about surviving...2020 is going to be thriving. I don't have any major changes coming up, I'm in the slog so to speak with both work and grad school, but I am going to thrive at both and bring the best self I can be to the table. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bummed I don't have a big change or a big resolution this year, but I'm going to take what I have and show up to be the best person I can every day.
@renaegry I'm so sorry to hear about your fall and I'm glad to hear you didn't break anything!
@joannadavison Great idea treating yourself to magazines, what a fun reward idea!
@trooworld I love your word of committed! YES!!!
@theslightedgeforever push ups are so hard! Keep me posted on how the habits are going!
@cbabie Love your word of jubilee! If you did go back to school what are you going for?
@TeresaW1020 I also downed quite a bit of champagne (holy hangover batman!) I hope your New Years started on a better foot than mine!0 -
My new year’s eve was nice. I overdid it slightly but trying to recover now. This week I’m over calories a lot so I’m trying to rein it in. Yesterday I did ok. I was at the mall and wanted some poutine at the fast food court or some ice cream and I managed to skip both. I just kept focusing on a goal weight in my mind and repeating it like a mantra.
2020 is not off to the best start for me. One of my credit cards was compromised somehow- I noticed a charge yesterday for $100 I didn’t make, so I had to call the bank. They are investigating, so maybe they’ll reverse the charge. I hope so. In the meantime they’re sending me a new card.
Also on Monday night I’m having my cat Griffen euthanized. I’m struggling with it, I really want sometime to tell me it was the right decision, but I know the conflict is inside me. He is 13 and a half. His quality of life is still ok- he gets sick but only off on and on- there is something wrong, we think it’s kidneys but not sure. So when gets sick he has a lot of accidents. This has been going on for a year but it is getting worse. Like he has had accidents- pooping in his own bed twice, and then on Boxing Day on my sofa.
The vet says we could do more blood tests to figure out what is wrong, or an xray. But taking him to the vet is a nightmare, it truly is an ordeal because he gets soo upset and freaked out. Even with a sedative he loses his mind. So I can’t really take him back and forth for a bunch of tests.
Anyway. It is a decision that has been a long time coming, and I don’t want to lose him but I also want it over with if that makes sense.
@joannadavison that really makes a big difference, the mental health aspect. I feel like that is so important to be able to manage everything else. I hope the new year is a better one for you.
@trooworld good luck at work! I have to go back on Monday. I’m anxious about it, though there’s no reason to be…..lol about Times Square. Yep you have to think about things like the logistics of bathrooms! I would never survive. Love your word for the year……I did get a vertical mouse but it’s too soon to see if it will help my wrist. I can get an ergonomic assessment at work but I’ve always avoided it because it’s a hassle to get them to do it. But maybe I will and then if they give me tips I can use it for home too. I have another appointment with the RMT for acupuncture next week. If that doesn’t work and the mouse doesn’t work I might see a physiotherapist. I hate to because I have to pay for it, but maybe just to get a second opinion.
@theslightedgeforever I do my puzzles like you. Yes there has to be order! I like order in everything. Once we did a personality thing at work and my result was- you’re the kind of person that likes to spend Friday nights with a good spreadsheet lol. It is true. I’m always designing spreadsheets and lists and things.
@cbabie happy new year! Whatever happens this year, I hope you can just stay steady and be kind to yourself and your loved ones. At the end of the day those are the things we can control.
@TeresaW1020 Happy new year! Sounds like you had a fun evening! I hope your arms recover……lol at the friend requests. I always say if there is someone self-absorbed, the type that talks for hours about themselves, they will always find me. I think because I tend to be a good listener.
