@trooworld That stinks about your knee. Your best bet is to call your doctor. I wear a brace but mine was recommended by my orthopedic doctor. Hi, all. Dinner was good last night. I only ate one serving of potato salad. We have chicken leftover for lunch today. We’re eating at my daughter’s house tonight. I’ll go for a walk and ride the bike.0

@cbabie Sounds like you do indeed have a lot going on. It's a good idea to get all of it done before school starts. Hmmm...I'd like to learn more about the challenge. I might potentially be interested. Do you have a link to the challenge on Facebook? re: no AC, yes, it was terrible. I slept so poorly lol. Gosh, I can only imagine in AZ if the power goes out. Sorry about your waddle, I'll tell more about Comic-Con below.
@fabgeekmom Thanks! I hope you enjoyed steak night. Good job with the swim, I bet that felt good. Lunch on the patio sounds really nice.
HI all. We got to the parking garage for Comic-Con at about 9:30 am. We had that 20 minute walk to the convention center. On the walk to the center, I could tell my knee was bad. I didn't realize how bad it was. Every step was a shot of sharp pain. We had to walk very slowly. We made it to the convention center, and walked a little bit in the exhibit hall but I was in so much pain, I couldn't enjoy it. We were making our way over to a panel/talk and we stopped at the first aid and they let me sit down and gave me an ice pack. Since I had already taken Naproxen, there really wasn't anything they could have given me. The Naproxen wasn't helping. We made it to the panel and stayed for about half of it. It felt nice to sit down. We decided to go back to the car and eat lunch but I knew I couldn't come back, I was walking far too slowly and hurt way too badly. I cried in the streets about having to leave and the pain. We left at noon, just a few hours after getting there. I came home and iced my knee, which helped. I messaged my doctor who told me to take 500 mg of Tylenol 4-6 times a day along with the Naproxen. So that's what I am going to do. After resting my knee, I dropped my husband back off at the convention and came home and rested more. I feel better today, but then again, I didn't feel terrible in the morning yesterday. I hope today goes better. I took one picture, and I am sharing another that my husband took. The first pic is of some interesting costumes (not sure who they were) and the 2nd picture is one my husband took, from Troma Studios, with the founder Llyod Kauffman on the far left and the Toxic Avenger on the right with the mop.
Water yesterday: 40 oz
My phrase for the year: "New year, new me!"
Hope your knee feels better soon! That’s awful to be in pain. Those are some interesting costumes.0 -
Morning all, It's been an uneventful weekend..YAY!! I am putting on the lbs, by not moving my body. I was going to walk today, but then talked myself out of it. Just want to follow Dr's orders so I can do what I want to do afterwards..LOL.
@trooworld I hope your knee feels better...yes most of the time my knee brace made my knee hurt worse..hence I don't wear it. LOL. I am glad. you are going to call your DR, that is wise. I did send you a message, but can't figure out where to make you a friend. It's been a minute since I did that. LOL
@fabgeekmom Yea for you for only one serving. It always makes me feel better when I take control of the food going in my mouth, instead of my emotions or desires having the say. LOL.

@trooworld I’m glad you got to enjoy your convention. @cbabie It’s good to follow doctor’s orders. Gaining weight from being inactive is frustrating. But know you can lose weight when you are able to be more active. And yay, for an uneventful weekend. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. I had a salad for lunch with the last of the chicken my DS grilled. Also some watermelon. DS is making chicken souvlaki for lunches this week. We’re having the spaghetti and meatballs I froze last week for dinner tonight.0
-
@trooworld I hope you don’t mind me giving you advice. Make that appointment now with the orthopedic doctor as it will probably take months to get an appointment. I’ve been down that road before. Also I use Diclocenac Sodium Topical Gel ( Voltaren) on my knee. It is OTC and most pharmacies have their own brand which is less expensive. Or Amazon.
Hi, all. Dinner was good last night. Tonight DS is making fajitas with flank steak, and Mexican corn salad. I’m buying the fixings for the fajitas. Lunch will be the chicken he grilled yesterday plus a salad with his homemade hummus.

Morning all, I got up, took a shower, which in itself is time consuming...have to tape and saran wrap the spots where I had the surgery. Then afraid I get them wet..stresses me out. I go Friday to get the stitches out, so hopefully better times are a coming..LOL. I just feel better about me when I get up, shower and get dressed for the day. My mom used to say get up and make a day of it..
@trooworld Yes I found the friend area, do I need to resend you the link? I have to say I agree with Fabgeekmom about your knee. It's very frustrating that they look at old xrays, give your some meds and say "call me in the morning type thing". LOL you checked off that box, but please don't wait...knee pain can be crippling.. this household has used the Voltaren gel as well. tired leg syndrome...knee aches..
@fabgeekmom My grand daughter would love your dinner tonight. she is always after me to cook those kinds of meals.. LOL. Yes you are right, I know I will get to moving again, I think I am just over it. LOL
cbabie0 -
@cbabie I’m glad you feel better. Taking a shower is a big deal. I know you will be glad to get the stitches out. I probably wouldn’t cook all these meals if my son didn’t live with us. He’s such a big help.0
-
@trooworld It does take a while for anti inflammatory meds to work. Good idea to check with pharmacy on the gel. Too bad about work stress. I don’t think there is a job or career without stress. Hi, all. Dinner was good last night. Today we are going swimming, eating lunch and then going to our cottage. We’re eating dinner at a seafood restaurant. We’re coming home tomorrow after DH mows the grass and does a few chores. I think it’s too hot to walk the track.0
-
Morning all, I did so so on food, we had steak and rice last night for dinner. It's still too hot here to go out for a walk...will get back on my treadmill soon. that's a start.
@trooworld I will send you a DM in a few. I am so sorry about your pain in your leg. It's horrible to be kept up/awake by it. glad you are calling the Dr and yes you should check about the gel. Sorry I thought I had said something, but probably didn't. Yes I had a bridge redone and then a week later had 2 Basel cells skin areas removed. Not supposed to lift anything or exercise for 2 weeks..that has been fun NOT. I get the stitches out on Friday. I only went to the Dr because my PCP said I should..I never would have. LOL.
@fabgeekmom Just enjoy going to the cottage! You are active every day and you should just relax and say AHHHHH this is NICE. LOL. You are right about job stress, but then you retire and there is life stress..so that's why God gave us good books, and when needed zone out to a mindless TV series. LOL
cbabie0 -
@cbabie I’m glad you are recovering. I agree about life stress. DH and I watch something that’s not too stressful after dinner. Then we read. I have lots of books on Libby.0
-
@trooworld That’s good to have so many Libby accounts. I have 2 and have plenty of books to read. I’m glad you have less pain. Good idea to ask your PCP. Too bad about dogs fighting and your DH getting bitten. Hi, all. We had a good time at the cottage. Last night DH and I both ordered salmon. It was really good and had rice and fresh vegetables. Our son grilled shrimp tonight plus made rice and a beet salad with goat cheese dressing. We have salad for tomorrow night, too.0
-
@trooworld Listening to audiobooks on the way to work is a good idea. I never thought of not liking the tortillas but it makes sense since you’ve had the real thing. I guess it’s like the difference between a deli bagel and a supermarket one. Hi, all. Today was a swim day and steak night. All good!0
-
@trooworld It’s hot, here, on the East Coast, too. I think the high yesterday was 98. I hope you were able to go to the pool. You can do so much more in the water without hurting your joints. But if you didn’t do, no judgment. Hi, all. I’m doing indoor exercises today. It’s too hot to walk outside. Also the humidity is awful. Lunch today is leftover steak on a salad with beets. Tonight is family dinner and we are having grilled burgers, baked frozen French fries and coleslaw. Easy and simple and what everyone likes.0
-
Morning all, Sorry I have been MIA, I have been moving my daughter for the last few days. I am exhausted. LOL. She is getting settled in and I wanted to jump on and get caught up. I got my stitches out and now I have to put a antibiotic cream on them for a week, but all is good. At least I can take a shower with out wrapping myself up in plastic. LOL. Haven't been eating great, just whatever I can grab and go....
@trooworld I just sent you a DM about the challenge, no worries. I am glad you are pain free. I am so sorry about your DH. I never thought about having more than 1 library card. How do you do that?
@fabgeekmom We are consistently in the triple digits now and the humidity has started, so I feel you with the heat. I will stay inside as much as possible LOL. I am not sure I have ever had a beet salad. I LOVE beets.
cbabie0 -
@trooworld Enjoy your Italian meal. It’s good that you can donate blood. @cbabie Moving is exhausting. It’s good that you could help your daughter. I know it was a good feeling to shower without wrapping yourself in plastic. If you like beets you would like beet salad. We ate ours on arugula with a goat cheese dressing and walnuts. There are lots of recipes online. Hi, all. It cooled off some because we had some rain last night. DH and I went for a walk after breakfast. DH has been picking figs from our trees. Eventually I plan to make preserves. Tonight we go to our daughter’s house for dinner.0

I got back late last night from Canada. I'm happy I lost 0.4 lbs while I was there.
@cbabie Are you still doing that journal challenge? Beets were gross coming from a can. Are you able to exercise now?
@trooworld Sorry about your knee at Comic Con. Such cool costumes
@fabgeekmom Agree with you on the Voltaren. I fell while hiking up the mountain and hurt my shoulder a bit and I was using it on that. Luckily my friend uses it for her knee and brought it with her.
@gemwolf110 I think you had an extraction planned before I left. Hope that went well.
Today is just a rest day before I resume my regularly scheduled program.

@theslightedgeforever It was good to hear from you. Glad you had fun in Canada and the Voltaren helped with your pain. I agree about beets in the can. Yuck!0

Here's some of my pics. I had a good video of some other wildlife but couldn't post them. I did see another form of wildlife Friday night. I got to see Billy Idol in concert in Calgary. OMG! What a great show.

I did! It went well. Getting back into routine this week. One positive thing about this extraction is that I lost weight during the recovery. I found those premier protein drinks really good. I got to try making ice cream with it in my ninja creami.0 -
@trooworld We started in Vancouver and then drove to Whistler for two nights and then Banff for 3 nights then onto Calgary for one night. I swear it was the longest roadtrip. Your pasta looks good. At first I thought it was a blueberry pastry.
@gemwolf110 Any time you lose weight is a good thing. LOL I keep hearing about those protein drinks but never tried them.
My body is SO tired. Plus my shoulder hurts worse now than after my fall. So I'm trying to stretch it out. I think I'm going to take some Aleve. I did not make it to the gym. I just kept thinking about my shoulder. But I did a 40 min walk on a trail. Hubby was saying "you are dragging today". Yes I am. I don't want to be here but I am forcing myself to get out and not be lazy. Then later came home and took a nap. I feel much better. Tomorrow I'm going to have to force myself to the gym. Just take painkillers before I go and keep stretching it out.

@gemw1010 I’m glad you’re getting back into your routine. That was good to lose weight, too. @theslightedgeforever That trip sounds like fun. I hope your shoulder gets better. @trooworld It’s too bad that it’s so hot. Luckily for me, September starts cooling off a bit. Hi, all. Today is an inside day for exercise. I’ve been doing some beginner strength workouts on Peloton. I’ll do the bike and go for a short walk since it’s cloudy today. Tonight I am preparing One Pot Chicken Sausage Pasta from Skinnytaste, Simple.1

Mornin all I can't believe how fast this week has gone. It's been a week of moving, cleaning, Drs, and school starts tomorrow. I haven't done well on eating, only been a grab and go kind of week. I think with the moving and lifting, I am getting in my strength workouts. LOL
@trooworld I am sorry for leg cramps, I hate those. I think mine come when I don't drink enough water. Isn't it such a good feeling to be productive? I think that's a mental high for me.
@fabgeekmom Great job on doing a strength exercise. I think that I need to be working on strength and mobility. Once I get this move over with, that will be my goal.
@theslightedgeforever I hope your shoulder feels better...Please don't be like dad. Take care of your shoulder, it's worth having full mobility in it.

@trooworld Too bad about the leg cramps. My worst cramps, I think, were the result of not drinking enough water. I’m not made for hot weather either. @cbabie You’ve really been busy! I agree that counts as activity. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. Dinner tonight is flank steak from the freezer- last week’s leftover fajitas. DS is making refried beans plus we have other fixings.0
-
@trooworld My shoulder: I fell while hiking. I was tired from going non-stop morning til evening everyday. Not a moment to rest. Even eating seemed to be rushed so we could get to the next thing. lol I really enjoying easing into my day. Get you some good support hose for the leg cramps. They really work. Good water intake you had.
@gemwolf110 I think here in MN it's going to be an early winter. It's really starting to get cool. I hope it's not going to be another summer to winter and skip fall year. Your menus sound good.
@cbabie Soon you will have some time freed up when school starts to concentrate on YOU.

@trooworld I’m glad you didn’t have leg cramps last night. Sometimes things just happen. It has rained here, too, and it’s really humid. The hurricane is affecting our weather even though we are not going to be hit too hard. Hi, all. DH and I went to the recreation center to work out on the recumbent elliptical and then went grocery shopping. We’re having air fried chicken breasts (ATK), polenta and coleslaw for dinner. DS is cooking and is making enough for lunch tomorrow also.0
-
@trooworld Too bad your recipe wasn’t good. It happens. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. I’ve been relaxing all afternoon. I’m reading one book and listening to another. Tonight DS is making ground pork burgers, using low fat ground pork. Calories are about the same as low fat ground turkey or beef. I bought beets again yesterday. We’ll eat some tonight and tomorrow we’ll have a beet salad. We also have frozen French fries.0
-
@trooworld You are doing really well on the water. My shoulder is better just a twinge every now and then when I move to reach something.
@fabgeekmom I might airfry some chicken breasts this weekend. I'll look up that recipe. I think it's rained once this week. Weather is in the 50's though now at nights. Nice of you and your dh to go workout together. What books are you reading/listening to? I just finished a good one called Swan Light.
I walked today outside about 30 min. Didn't remember to turn on my apple watch until halfway through. I like the Fitbit where it has auto-exercise recognition on it. Maybe Apple does and I just don't have the settings right.
Today's meal was a ground turkey and rice casserole dish. Just kind of threw it together and it worked. lol

@theslightedgeforever I read mostly fiction: historical, women’s lit, cozy mysteries, etc. The last book I read was The Good, the bad, the ugly ( last book in a series by Jesse Q. Sutanto). I just finished listening to Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez. II’m glad your shoulder is better. @trooworld Insomnia sucks! I know about traffic in LA as I have been there twice. DS always drives. It’s not a place I would like to live in, but it was fun to visit. @gemw1010 I love fall, too. Hi,all. DH and I went to the recreation center to workout on the elliptical. We took showers afterwards as the center has nice facilities. We went to Sam’s Club and bought ingredients for tonight and tomorrow night. We’re celebrating DH’s birthday which is Monday for the next 3 days : ribeyes tonight, salmon tomorrow and going to pizza restaurant on Monday. DS is also making a cake. So I’ll be eating more than usual and will get back to normal when it’s over.0
