Morning all, still tracking. However no exercise yesterday. Try Try Try again today. Kids are still sick. I have to watch the baby carefully as he gets the croup so easy. It's been warm here and then we will go back to cold...I just want consistency. LOL

@trooworld So sorry about your fall. I realized that I don't pick up my feet. It's because I broke my knee several years ago and my PT told me that was normal...but I had to work on my balance..I too can't sustain anymore falls. Sorry you got sick and glad you called and talked to someone and they gave you some good advice. LOL I love that you are already planning to make your office YOURS. This year has been better with the older one on sickness so I am grateful for that.

@fabgeekmom LOL If I moved all the things that can trip me, it would be baby first, his dinosaurs next, but I agree, I go around picking up the toys in the walkways...him I just have to pray. :). I agree with you, when 5 o'clock comes around I am ready to sit, but that never happens. LOL. I may sit, but I swear I am up and down, up and down...you would think my knees and thighs would be in better shape.

@theslightedgeforever I am glad you are focusing on habits...that is probably the best thing you can do. glad you are still moving and always looking for new things to try. Me not so much!!

@trooworld yeah I've had some very bad falls, down a flight of stairs, a couple on my bike. Most of it is me being careless. I've started to do some balance exercises, can start with stand on one foot 30 secs then the other. Then a bosu ball, then flip the bosu ball over. With the bosu ball is hard.

I hope you heal up ok. Thanks for the offer of recipe ideas. I feel tapped out at the moment, ended up doing takeout last night- Indian food which was delicious but high in calories lol. Might do Hello Fresh next week.

Part of the issue is it can be hard to get ingredients here. Anyway- If I think of anything I will ask!

@theslightedgeforever the book came at the library but I havent made it to pick it up yet. Work has been busy. I'm hoping tomorrow. Yeah I am totes pronouncing it wrong in my head lol.

@cbabie aw I hope the kid gets better!

@fabgeekmom 45 mins is a good walk, man I miss walking. The mushroom ragu also sounds good!

I will try to post the swans another day. I think it was bc I was on my phone.

My calorie tracking the last couple days went overboard. Just stress tbh. Stress eating and drinking. At least I am getting a good sense of my habits and what throws me off.

@fabgeekmom Maybe your body is at it's ideal weight? We know mine is not. LOL I did move down 0.2 lbs in my trend so downward is downward. If I keep taking steps down the mountain I'll eventually arrive at the bottom. The pasta sounded wonderful

@trooworld So exciting your clothes are getting looser. I guess in a way you have to relearn to eat things. What is your thought process on how losing weight would make someone fall less? Any theories? When I eat steak I have to chew about 20 times because it gets stuck in my esophagus if I don't. So I usually only eat steak once or twice a year. Hubby can't eat red meat

@cbabie Give yourself credit for the things you are doing right. You are tracking your food now. What other little things have you changed this week?

@its_cleo I used to do balance exercises when I was doing daily stretching and somehow I've let that go by the wayside. I should try it on my bosu ball. At least if you know what throws you off you can fix it. I've been working on countering my thoughts. Today I noticed myself looking at the calendar and seeing it was February when the thought "I always gain weight in February" entered my mind. Statistically this is true. I've done it for the past 5 years. I will lose from Nov-Jan and then BOOM like magic I will gain. So this time I countered with But I've lost some weight. The thought "only 5 days in, just wait" So I had to counter that one with all I have to worry about is just today. Make good choices today. I wrote all this out in my journal to give my brain a better way of seeing it and holding on to it. I wrote if all I do is lose 0.1 lbs in February I will have NOT gained in the month of February. It's also my busiest month for some reason as far as socially. Which probably means I eat more and exercise less thus the gain. Awareness is the first step.

For people who have done WW and have switched to MFP, have any of you tried setting your daily deficit goal to around 1200 calories then let yourself eat as many zero point foods as you need to be satisfied? I’m thinking of doing this so I don’t have to track as much and so I eat healthier.

@trooworld My falls were not related to weight and even when I thought I was overweight I really wasn’t. The first time I fell my left (bad) leg gave out and I fell getting in the bathtub. The second time I was rushing to get on the tram at the Denver airport and the door shut on my leg. The first time I broke my right femur, the second time wad the left femur. It’s good that you are learning what to eat and getting satisfaction from it. @cbabie Sorry the kids are still sick. @its_cleo It’s good that you are learning habits. Hopefully you’ll find a way to overcome stress and what throws you off. @theslightedgeforever I think you’re right as I am not too far from a healthy BMI. And I’ve read that BMI is not really a good predictor of health. It’s good that you are learning awareness. @anxietyfairy I don’t think that is a good idea. You are either on WW or MFP. I stopped WW because I was eating too many 0 point foods. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. Yesterday it was warm; today it’s cold and dreary. In the South warm weather in winter is called false spring as the warm weather does not last. Tonight we are having pork stew with kimchi, another milk street recipe.

@cbabie Yay for tracking! Keep trying. Can you do just 5 minutes a day of exercise to get you in the routine? Hopefully Spring will be here before you know it. Thank you. I think I also don't always pick up my feet enough. I hope neither of us falls again! Yeah that getting sick really stunk. I'm glad I can get answers from the surgeon's office. If I was with the old surgeon's office, I wouldn't have been able to call and someone pick up. Yes, I love my officemate but she also got on my nerves lol. It will be harder with her not on our team but I am looking forward to the change. And the prints I bought are really cute, they are of tigers. I will pop a picture in of them from the listing on Etsy. Oh that's good that baby girl has been better with sickness.

@its_cleo Oh gosh, yeah me too: it's mostly carelessness. That's good you are doing balance exercises. I love Indian food. Doing Hello Fresh is a good idea! That's good you can look back at the tracking and see what is going wrong.

@theslightedgeforever Yes! I was so uncomfortable at work wearing too-tight clothing. I tried to hide it by wearing long sweaters but I know people noticed. Yes, I am relearning to eat. My thought process: I am not 100% sure but I am hoping that I won't topple over as easy because of my weight? I don't know. Maybe I'll still be the same likeliness of falling. Isn't it hard to chew that steak 20 times? I find it kind of hard but I am doing it. That's good you are working on countering your thoughts. That's a cognitive behavioral therapy technique.

@anxietyfairy I have not tried that. That's an interesting idea but I think it goes against the calorie counting. Let us know if you try it how it is working. Welcome! :)

@fabgeekmom Oh gosh, those sound like awful falls. Good job with the swim! Interesting about the false spring. I hope you enjoyed the stew.

Hi all. Things continue to go better. Last night, I made another Skinnytaste recipe, Tuscan White Beans with Spinach, Shrimp and Feta (https://www.skinnytaste.com/tuscan-white-beans-with-spinach-shrimp/ ). It called for fresh sage but I only had dried sage and I don't think I added enough, it came out a little boring. I think the next time I make it, I will add some more seasonings. It had a lot of fiber, so that was good. Below are the prints I ordered for my office wall. I got some lightweight black frames that have mats already inside them for the prints.

Morning all, baby girl stayed home again today..24 hrs with no fever, but her cough is enough to feel bad for her. LOL. I have to finish tracking from yesterday. It was not a good day, but not a bad day. Just was too tired to log it last night. I did do some of my PT exercises yesterday...it's a start.

@fabgeekmom Ouch, I think my stomach curdled at the thought of the door closing on your leg. broken bones are the worst..I agree with slightedge, you probably are healthy and at your good weight!

@anxietyfairy I think you might be way over in calories, I used to do WW and I think the zero points hurt me more than helped me. I felt like I could eat and eat...and that really isn't true. It's really about balance.

@trooworld love those prints. you are doing a lot of changes right now...LOL we may not even know you when this year is over. :). A whole new you...but please keep your personality...I like it..:)

@theslightedgeforever I would think February is because of all the celebrating you do that month. LOL. It's kind of like my December....I don't think I can chew my food 20 times...I would rather eat creamy foods..LOL

@anxietyfairy Welcome to the group. I haven't tried tracking calories and eating zero point foods at the time but I'm sure it could be done. Depending on your current weight 1200 may be too low. If it were me, I would experiment. What and how many zero point foods can you eat and still lose weight at the rate that is good for you? That's the question to answer. Try it for a month and see what happens. The push for healthier foods is a good one.

@fabgeekmom Yikes on your falls. Yes on the BMI. How is your energy? How are your blood tests? etc. Those are a more accurate picture I think. How was the kimchi? My Korean friend made it for me one time. Not my thing. lol She said but it's so good for you.

@trooworld The only times I have fallen is when my feet got caught in my wide pant leg going up stairs. I think 2-3 times I did that. I no longer wear those pants. lol I would think it would be a balance or like you said not picking your feet up. Or dragging your feet. I love the tiger prints. They just pop.

@cbabie Hopefully your little one will get back to school soon. Good on you for going back and tracking. Plus doing some of your PT. I never had the problem with eating too many zero foods because they filled me up. I think the fiber helped. Eating fruit and vegetables was not what made me fat. lol February is my special month. I changed my phone wallpaper to reflect that. Queen for a day is coming up soon.

I made some really good tomato soup today. I saw this reel on Instagram about putting tomatoes in the air fryer. I added 20 cloves of garlic along with some red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning and salt. Oh and an onion. Drizzled generously with olive oil. then after it was done just blended it up. Very nice comfort food. A grilled cheese would have went nicely with it but I abstained. Plus I did 30 min on the treadmill.

@trooworld I love the prints! The Skinnytaste recipe sounds good. @cbabie Good job on tracking from yesterday and doing PT exercises. @theslightedgeforever Blood work and energy levels are good. I could have more energy but I do want I need to do. The tomato soup sounds good. Good job on the treadmill. Hi, all. It was raining this morning so I worked out on the bike. DS made soup for lunch. I went grocery shopping and wanted some salmon but the store didn’t have any. So since Sam’s Club was nearly I went there. I got the salmon plus steaks, ground chicken and ground turkey. I’m going to air fry the salmon, roast some cauliflower and make polenta in the instant pot.

@cbabie Aww, poor baby girl. That's good you tracked and did some of your PT exercises. Thanks! Yes, I am! LOL I hope you still know me. :)

@theslightedgeforever You are lucky that you don't fall. Yes, you are probably right about the cause. Thanks! That soup sounds really good. Yes, a grilled cheese would have been good but you put your health first. Yay! And yay for the treadmill!

@fabgeekmom Thank you! It was pretty good. Good job on the bike. I hope you enjoyed the salmon.

Hi all. I'm doing okay. I lost 2 lbs this week which is a healthy rate but I wish it were more lol. It's raining here today and I work from home, so that's nice. But I do have to go to a doctor's appt in a few minutes about my knee. I hope she can refer me to an orthopedic doctor for it and possibly get some gel shots. I'm tired of not being able to go for walks.

@theslightedgeforever queen for a day sounds good. Is that Valentine's? Soup sounds good. I would throw some chickpeas in.

@cbabie hope the little one recovers!

@trooworld love the prints. Sage is the one spice I find drier is better bur yeah definitely have to add more than I think.

@fabgeekmom man those sound like bad falls.

I'm on track calorie wise, no more take out left. I tried to do 10 mins on the elliptical with no resistance and was struggling most of the night bc of it. When I aggravate my hip I feel it mostly at night. Sooooo kind of discouraged.

Just needs more time I guess.

@its_cleo Thanks! Yeah, I think so with the sage. That's good you are on track. Sorry about your hip.

@fabgeekmom You sound in a really good place health wise. Yesterday I was looking at a recipe that I used to make. Cauliflower tater tots.

@trooworld I'm extremely careful going down our steps. I'm real slow and look down and watch every step. Yaay on your weight loss.

@its_cleo You're doing good calorie wise. I think that's most of the battle to lose weight. I used to think exercise was more important but have changed my mind. Not Valentine's day but my birthday. I don't cook, clean, or anything else. I like chickpeas I just don't know if like them in tomato soup. lol I agree. Pain at night is the worst. I'm struggling with my left hip/leg.

I went to the gym and did treadmill and some weights. Total 45 min. I am becoming a gym rat.

@trooworld 2 pounds is great! I hope you get relief for your knee. @its_cleo Good job on calorie counting. I’m sorry about your hip pain. I guess the elliptical aggravated your pain. Night pain is the worst. I can understand that you are frustrated. @theslightedgeforever Sorry about your pain! Yes, I’m in pretty good health despite a few irritations. I keep on keeping on! Hi, all. Today was a swim day. It’s warmer and sunnier. Tonight is steak night.

@theslightedgeforever That's a good idea. Thank you. Good job with the gym! Are you tracking your food?

@fabgeekmom Thank you! Good job with the swimming! Yay for nicer weather.

Hi all. Well, my doctor took me off the Celebrex (for arthritis) which is fine because I didn't feel like it was doing anything. She wants me to apply Voltaren 3-4 times a day. She also is referring me to an orthopedic doctor to hopefully get some fluid injections in my knee. Hopefully that helps. Today, I'm just going to get groceries and clean the house.

@theslightedgeforever well happy birthday, I hope you enjoy it. I'm turning 49 this year. I've started to think about what to do when I turn 50 besides cry lol. Maybe a trip. If only everything wasnt so expensive.

@trooworld I was reading about voltaren bc I have arthritis too. Mine is still at a mild stage, though, so I got something less strong for now. I hope it helps.

I'm ok- cals on track the last few days, and I'm pleased with my weight. Tonight is a challenge bc normally I would have chips and dip or something. So I will see how I can portion it moderately.

These are the pictures of the swans near me. As I said we have both mute and trumpeter- these are trumpeter (black beaks). They make sounds but very quiet honks. They are tagged from a conservation program to support the species bc it is depleted. They track them and do a bunch of stuff. The tags don't hurt them.

This guy N37 I see him quite a bit off and on.

@fabgeekmom I think there will always be irritations in life. Sunnier and warmer sounds good.

@trooworld Yes I'm tracking. This week was 6/7 days. I hope you get relief for your knee. My friend got some gel shots that last about 6 months.

@its_cleo I love the pics of the swans. Especially those black beaks. I had you much younger. In your 30s. Hope you find relief too. I did some nice stretches this morning laying in bed for my hips and then some more later on a bench.

I did some mall walking today while I waited for my son. Today is my active recovery day. Tomorrow I think I'll finish off that tomato soup I made.

@trooworld I use Voltaren all the time and it helps. It mostly takes the edge off the pain. I but the generic product at Sam’s Club. I hope you get an appointment soon to get the shots. @its_cleo The pictures were really cool. 50 is young but I guess everything is relative. Good job on tracking. @theslightedgeforever Good idea to walk while you waited for your son. Enjoy that soup. Hi, all. It’s cold and dreary again. I think I hurt more when that happens. This morning DH and I went shopping. I don’t really enjoy shopping for clothes but I needed a pair of dressy pants and some shoes that were not sneakers to wear to a Bar Mitzvah in March. I found a pair of black pants and some black shoes. Everything was picked over as after Christmas everything goes on sale. DS is roasting 2 chickens and making couscous with red peppers. I’m preparing beet greens and beets. I love fresh beets.

@its_cleo Thank you and I hope the voltaren helps you, too. How'd you do with last night? Did you get into the chips and dip? Those are my weaknesses! What beautiful pictures! The trumpeter swans are so pretty. Thanks for sharing them.

@theslightedgeforever That's great. Thank you. That would be great if I could get 6 months of relief. I wonder if I could get another round after they wear off? Good job with the mall walking. I hope you enjoy the tomato soup.

@fabgeekmom I'm glad to hear it helps some. I ordered some off Amazon, I didn't even think to get it from Sam's but I will next time thanks! Sorry about your pain. I'm glad you found what you needed while shopping. I love fresh beets, too.

Hi all. DH and I ended up going for coffee in the afternoon. We went in our favorite neighborhood. There was a vegan food festival going on so we walked through it. The food smelled good. In the park there (which is all concrete so why is it called a park? LOL), they had a rollerskating party going on retro style. No rollerblades in that party! It was fun to watch. We went a few more places while we were out. I made Cottage Cheese Keto Cloud Bread Pizza for dinner. It makes about 8 small slices but I could only eat one. It was really good.

@fabgeekmom I did not eat the soup as planned. A chicken shawarma instead. I went over by 45 calories. The good thing is that I only ordered one and normally I can eat two. Hubby even said we'll share an extra one. I said no I'm just going to eat one and I did. So that is progress.

@trooworld I think my friend has to wait the 6 months but she says it's fine. It gives her pain relief. I want to go to a roller skate party. I bet the music was really good. I probably would have been dancing as they skated. Look at my invisible roller skates. I'm glad you are eating food you enjoy now.

Today I feel tired so I don't think I'm going to be doing much of anything but read. I did do my stretches so I can get rid of this hip/leg pain. Did I tell you as I was walking last week something went BOINK in my leg. Felt like a guitar string broke. lol But I'm still walking so maybe something was out of joint and it popped back in place. I don't know. The hip/leg pain was before so may or may not be related. It's just my hips are so tight. Especially on the left side. Plus I think @fabgeekmom is correct, the cold makes the pain worse.

@trooworld I’m glad you enjoyed the park, the festival and your food. @theslightedgeforever That’s annoying when something goes BOINK. I’m glad you recovered. That happens to me occasionally. Good for you for only ordering one entree. Yeah, the weather plays a big part in our aches and pains. Hi, all. It was in the 50’s and sunny ( a heat wave!) so I went for a walk. It was a bit windy and brisk but doable. Tonight we are going to our daughter’s house for dinner. She is serving appetizers since we’ll be watching the Super Bowl. I’m not into football so I’ll scroll on my phone. I’m making hot pimento dip from America’s Test Kitchen.

@theslightedgeforever That's good to hear. Wouldn't it be fun to go to a roller skating party? I bet the music was fun, too, I was concentrating on the skaters. :D Thanks, I am glad about the food, too. Sounds like yesterday was a nice rest day. That's good you did your stretches. Oh gosh, no you didn't say about the boink! That must have been disconcerting. I hope that doesn't happen again.

@fabgeekmom Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed the "warm" weather and got outside. I'm not into sports at all, so I would do the same thing!

Hi all. Yesterday didn't go as planned: I was supposed to go meet my old boss for coffee and then go to a museum with her but when I got up to leave to meet her, I felt very nauseous and a bit off-kilter. I decided to still go because she was already on her way down to the coffee shop. I only ended up staying for coffee for about 30 minutes and we skipped the museum. I went back to my car to leave and I threw up right there by the car like 3 times. I sat there for a while and then drove home and threw up about 3 more times. I got in bed and slept for 3 hours and woke up and felt a little better. Today, I feel okay so far. I think this nausea incident was, like I said due to vertigo, or I haven't been drinking enough water and it's related to my weight loss surgery. I seem to remember them telling me not drinking enough water can cause nausea. It's a learning experience. When I woke up, we watched some of the Puppy Bowl. We aren't into football, but we do enjoy the Puppy Bowl.

@trooworld sorry to hear you've been sick. Sounds awful. I did get into the chips and dip, but I portioned them out before, so it was a little better.

@fabgeekmom hope your SuperBowl night went ok. I'm not into football either. I used to like baseball, but not really into that either much. I need to change my avatar.

@theslightedgeforever I hope your hip improves. I feel like that's a success with teh shawarma. That's what I'm doing too- if I go over at least it's just a little bit.

My weekend was ok, nothing exciting. I have Thursday and Friday off, and then next Mon is a holiday here, so I'm looking forward to the break. But feels like a long time til then lol.

I was looking at possible trips- hiking in Ireland, or Chile and Argentina. Of course I cant walk much right now, so maybe in a couple years? Fun to day dream I guess.
