@prisoner2food How were your habits today? Are you still with your grand babies?

@trooworld I hope you feel better soon. When I don’t feel good all I want to do is lay in bed and read. My memory isn’t the greatest lately but awhile back didn’t you have a car accident. I’m wondering if you did something to your neck then and are having a flare up. My DH fell a couple of years ago and injured his C-3. He already had damage to his C-4 and C-5. Occasionally it will flare up and then he gets migraines. He’s so busy treating his head he forgets about his neck. But that’s the source of his pain.

@TeresaW1020 There are lots of ways I’ve changed in regards to food I should be farther down the highway. 😫 Yeah I say that too every year. We should probably start saying January is going to be my month then just hit January’s goal. Great quote

@TrishasTime Isn’t it fun having me in your head. My kids hate it. Yep, you schooled me I need to say this week is going to be my week. I don’t know if I’m ready to take it down to day I’ve had good days but then followed by bad days. I tend to see the bad days over the good. I found a new word for glutton. Overeater. Doesn’t that sound nicer. I can start identifying with being not an overeater. I’m not an overeater. Speaking of roller coasters versus bumps I think the difference is time. If we get back on at the next meal it will be a bump. Easy to say hard to do. I think the trick is having everything ready and available to get back on. If it takes any effort on my part if I’m in that mood I’ll just grab anything. I was doing well on my plan then my daughter arrived and BOOM 💥 then sil followed 💥 💥. So trying to get back on. One meal at a time will be my mantra. Make the meal count. I have a vision board. It worked for a while then it became a part of the furniture in the room. I need to update it and move it to a different place.

I’ll go see what happened to cbabie. My mom’s birthday was on the 17th so this was probably a hard week for her.

    I exercised 15 min today. It’s a start

Hi everyone! I just recently decided to leave WW after many, many years, and give this a shot instead.

A bit about me -- about four years I was diagnosed with a gluten allergy, spurring me to start eating cleaner and finally lose weight. I returned to Weight Watchers, where I was able to lose 60 lbs, reclaimed Lifetime status, and became a runner in the process.

I unfortunately have put on a few of my pounds back since the summer due to stress. And I also have found myself struggling with WW's food limitations as I am now a half-marathoner and I work out normally twice a day, with strength training in the morning and running/Zumba in the evening. I'm now working with a sports nutritionist to lose those few pounds I gained and make sure I'm fueling myself properly, and she suggested I use MyFitnessPal.

I'm looking forward to learning lots and continuing my fitness journey!

@trooworld - Thankyou for sharing your private Pinterest. I have never used that before, so I will investigate. I am glad that your migraine has gone. Good luck with the raffle - finger crossed

@theslightedgeforever - I am glad I could for once reset your thinking. You always do it to us (evil grin). I went to the studio last night and "OWNED_IT". I accepted the weight gain instead of staying away until I had gone down again.

As I set my Christmas Menu (it is almost at my house every year), I was reminded that I am "a healthy lifestyle" every Christmas, watching what I eat. Making sure lollies etc are far away. It would be nice, that the healthy habits are so ingrained next year that it would not matter where the lollies are.

I decided not to follow the Christmas traditional menu of ham, turkey this year and instead are having prawns, chicken tenderloins and pork belly bites for those who love them. Salads will be a watermelon, feta and mint salad and a dressed up garden salad. Remembering it will be hot here. The heat usually does not bother us as we have air conditioning, but I want to minimise this year instead of taking the day before to prep and the whole Christmas day to cook

    Take care everyone

@trooworld I’m so glad you found some relief for your migraines. I hope this new acupuncturist will work for you. Did you stay within your food budget today? I was OP til 6:30 and then DH had ordered me a chicken quesadilla. Had I fixed my dinner when I should have I could have refused saying that’s not my food and eaten what I had planned. Lesson learned. Cause that slip led to nighttime munching so I did not stay within my boundaries. Thanks for sharing your vision board.

@corriepelc welcome to the group. You’ve had amazing success and I’m sure you’ll be able to knock off those unwanted pounds. The best meal plan is one you design for your body and lifestyle. We’ve all been WW members at one time or another I think. I left because I became prediabetic and doc wanted me to follow a moderate carb program so I needed to start seeing where my carbs were. I struggle with consistent exercise. I used to exercise just fine and it was the food.

@TrishasTime your menu sounds healthy and if people don’t like it they can cook next year. I’m glad you were accountable to yourself and went ahead to the meeting. I still don’t like the word studio. Lol. I wonder what kind of image they are trying to convey with the use of that word. So I was thinking today about saying this is my week versus year and not being ready to bring it down to daily goals. I already have daily goals with exercise calories and food calories. So it’s just a matter of declaring and being accountable to them publicly. That’s where I’m resisting.

I texted cbabie. She said she’d be on here soon.

I walked for 15 min and did a Leslie Sansone video for 20 min.

I am not an overeater. I am a person who doesn’t skip exercise.

Morning all! Sorry I have been MIA, I have been reading, but havn't felt like posting. It's been a tough week for many reasons. My DH is has a retirement party at work today, not sure if I will make it or not..that is sad...
I will tell you though that my Pastor the past 2 weeks looks at food and says too much sugar..I can't eat that...or the pasta, same thing too much sugar....so I think I am being blessed by a boss that will help with the sugar cravings I get...by reminding himself, therefore reminding me...NO..LOL

I don't have time to catch up on all the personals, as this is the last day in the office at church until 1/2...so much to do.

I so appreciate all of you and I will say that this group of women we have on this board are the best. We support each other, its a safe place to be and we do not condemn, we hold each of us accountable with encouragement and laughter!!!

    Hello everyone!

@TrishasTime, Like Trooworld I have a vision board on Pinterest that is filled with motivational quotes about health and fitness. You can click the link and look at it here if you want. https://www.pinterest.com/teresa66/getting-fit-and-looking-good/ Your Christmas meal sounds wonderful! :)

@trooworld, so glad your migraine went away. How was the party? Parties make it so hard to stay on plan. I've decided to cut myself some slack until the day after Christmas. So did you win anything? :*

@theslightedgeforever, you know I like your idea of saying that January should be our month!! I think sometimes we try to bite off too much and then we get discouraged and quit. Maybe just taking it one month at a time and doing our very best will give us our very best year. Hmm, worth a try! ;)

@cbabie, so sorry this has been a tough week for you! We are here to support each other and that is what makes this such an awesome group. <3

    @krupalip, I hope you are well? <3

Well, today has been a busy day and it's not even over yet! I had my review this morning and it went even better than I had hoped it would. I was so humbled and overjoyed by what my staff had to say about me. They really do love me!! o:) The only real issue that they want from me is to improve my technology skills for our website. I have promised to work on learning more of the inner workings so that I don't have to rely on our children's pastor to do it for me. The good news is that our children's pastor is taking over the scheduling of our nursery, which I have been doing this past year. Yayyy!!!

After our staff meeting and my review, the pastor took us all to lunch. Then I picked up my husband and we went to Sams to buy stuff for our church breakfast this Sunday. Tonight, we are going to a staff party where we are having a gingerbread house decorating contest. I plan to win!! B)

I typed out a really long response to everyone and then stupidly clicked on Teresa's link thinking it would open another page, but someone has changed the setting ON MY DESKTOP and it just replaced the page I was on and I lost everything :( I have just changed it back again!

@corriepelc - Welcome, we are a very small but very supportive group, where there are no judgements. I look forward to getting to know you better

@cbabie - I am so sorry that this has been a horrid week full of memories. Do I read that your husband is retiring - that it his retirement party?? If so, I hope you can get there. It is always to have someone to help with the sugar cravings. Sometimes when you are not strong enough, just having them there, helps you

@trooworld - Well did you win anything? I hope the whole companies festivities are nicer today. Are you taking a break over the Christmas Period? What are you guys doing for Christmas - are you going to your in-laws? Thankyou for sharing your pininterest board.

@theslightedgeforever - Love the positive mantras. My husband is also pre-diabetic. He has lost a lot of weight since retiring, maybe that is because he is more active as I have a never ending list of tasks to do (evil grin)

@TeresaW2010 - It is lovely that your staff recognise you. And.. more importantly that the children's pastor is taking over the roster. I love your competitive streak.

My grand daughter was advised that she got a place in Uni last night. So I will help her with the acceptance of the offer etc. Then she wants me to take her to DFO (which is a cheap direct fashion outlet - where the over orders and last season stuff go to). Did I have mention that I hate shopping!! If I have not - let me tell you I hate shopping- of any kind. If we had shops opened 24 hours a day, I would be one of those people that go at 1am in the morning, so there is very few people there. To go to a DFO is just nightmarish.

    Take care everyone

Today I am going to the markets to pick up fruit for Christmas day and then over to the strawberry farm to get a 3kg box of fruit. Then I am off to see the Grinch in Gold class to relax a little.

Tomorrow is bringing the meat out of the freezer to defrost in the fridge and Monday is prep day for Christmas day and then I do a lunch for husbands side of family on boxing day and then back to work on Thursday

I have found when you are on holidays you tend to spend more as there is a lot of more free time. Maybe working is better for me (lol)

    Good morning ladies!!

@TrishasTime, I should come over and take your granddaughter shopping! I love to shop!! I even told my husband that I could see myself hitting the stores today even though the traffic will be horrific! :D But he informed me that I don't have any more money and have been cut off until after Christmas. :'( I plan to go out the day after!! :p

@trooworld, bummer you didn't win anything but yayyyy that you didn't eat everything! :) I just Googled Arancini Balls. Yummmmmy!! I love Italian food so much! <3

@cbabie, you are in my thoughts and prayers! <3 It's good that your pastor is helping you to stay mindful of things that have too much sugar. My pastor has this crazy love for Little Debbie Christmas Tree cakes. He even started his sermon last week with an illustration on joy by using three boxes of those cakes as a demo. His sweet wife just sits and shakes her head. :D

Well, yesterday was my last day of work until January 2nd. I get one paid week off from work and it's the week of Christmas because that is the only time we don't have anything going on. Works for me! :) I don't have any plans other than to hang out at home binge watching Top Chef, do a little shopping, trade in my work phone for an upgrade, and of course pack up all these Christmas decorations and get ready for the New Year!

I told you that I went to a staff party and made a gingerbread house. This was my first ever and I think it turned out pretty good considering I had my husband helping. I'm pretty sure that we ate more candy than we put on the house. :D:D

    Morning everyone

Today, I am defrosting meat, setting the tables, stripping and remaking beds, quick vacuum. The big open area in my kitchen were we eat is being painted at the moment, so I may not be able to set the table until late tonight. In the middle of this, I am going to see the movie Grinch as I am not in a Christmas mood and hope that will change it.

@TeresaW2010 - Love your ginger bread house. How long did it take you to make? I just saw the top chef where the second contestant got exited. I think it is Top Chef in Kentucky. I googles your pastors' joy. My question is what does your pastor do when Christmas is over and there is no more Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes

@trooworld - I am so sorry to hear about your dog. I hope that everything turn out fine for him. My puppies are included as my family, so I can imagine how you are feeling. We have pet insurance over here to cover things like that, you have to pay for it, but pets are so expensive when they are sick. I hope you can squash that headache soon.

@trooworld So I guess progress for you for next year would be to track everything you eat or at least most of it. If you are filling up a plate, take a pic of the plate so you can log it later. If you are just standing by the snack tables grabbing handfuls of this and that, then fill up a plate. Journal how you could have done a bit better for next year. Just a bit. 1%. Just a handful. All of it would make a difference. We just don't think so. Wow! you did great at your gathering. You enjoyed yourself with just a little bit of food. That's the way to attend a party. You rocked it. I'm so sorry about your doggy. Maybe it will come back benign.

@cbabie Good of you to check in. For those days, you don't feel like posting personals how about just an "I'm here" and I'm struggling or I'm here and I did great today. Usually we can find one thing we did great. I shoot for the baby steps and if I did 10 min exercise, it's better than the zero I did yesterday. Even though it's not the 30+ min I had hoped for. So start catching yourself doing something right. I dread the day my dh retires as I don't want to hear What's for lunch? Do you want to go out for breakfast? No. Go find some coffee buddies or something. Or my all time favorite....What are we doing today? WE aren't doing anything but I had a couple of things on my schedule. I tend to become very lazy and not eat well when he's off work. I can't imagine it for the rest of my life.
But when that time comes, I will deal with it.

@TeresaW1020 So do you want to set a January goal with me and work towards that? Great news on the review. All of us have one thing we can improve on. Mine would be eating right when my dd comes to visit. She brings me stuff. Although probably, I trained her that way. When she was younger and brought stuff home I might have yelled, You didn't bring me anything? only thinking about yourself? So see that has kind of backfired on me now when I really need to lose weight. If you are going to google arancini balls, share with the rest of the class. lol I have it pictured as goat balls for some reason. OK, I looked it up and those look yummy. I was thinking I wonder if I could substitute cauliflower rice and put it in my air fryer. Tell your pastor time to cut the affair off with Little Debbie or he will end up like my dad the pastor. He had an affair with the Hostess my entire life. It didn't end well for him. I will tell you though that as I was reading your post I said to myself, oooh Little Debbies. Yummmmm. I love the gingerbread house. You did a good job. So add to your journal, make sure more candy ends up on house and not in my mouth compared to last year. I have my own journal entry. Eat half of what dd brings you. It would be nice to say I wouldn't eat anything, but I'm being realistic with myself. Maybe in three years, I could get there. Cause the second year would be 1/4. That's kind of where I'm at now. If I'm offered a dessert take 1/3 of what I would normally do.

@TrishasTime I've had that happen on my phone. I would go to click a link and lose it all. So now I've learned to just wait. I'm on my desktop now and enjoying looking at everyone's profile pics. Either they don't show up on my phone or I'm blind on most days. I've got a honey-do list that I think even with retirement, he will just be like I've worked my whole life, right now I'm just enjoying retirement, I'll get to it next week........I have proof of that of when he says, I'll do it on the weekend. So I'm trying to be grateful with the stuff that he does get done. Catch him doing something right. Congratulations on your daughters uni acceptance. That's a wonderful thing. I'm kind of the same way about shopping. I'm not an impulsive shopper at all and will circle a mall once and then go back to the beginning shop and think Should I buy this or not? Usually I come home empty handed. Plus because I'm not at goal, nothing looks as good as I'd like it to so why waste the money. I could go on and on about the ills of shopping. But I will say when I do get out there and realize all the stuff I see that I wish I could wear it motivates me (for the day). I should just move into a shopping mall and I just might get to goal. lol But I do love outlet malls.

@gemwolf110 . Good to hear from you. Are you ready for 2019? More specifically January? I think I'm going to take it a month at a time. I tried that for December and while I started off really well, I kind of fizzled here at the end. But that's all a part of an experiment. Scientists just take notes of what went wrong and when so the next time they can keep searching for the result they want. It's all data, right? So I'll add this to my Penzu. I have notebooks set up for December goals and weekly goals. The good thing about tracking is I can pinpoint when I started struggling by looking at it. Plus seeing how I can improve.

OK, so I hope everyone has nice holidays and continues to make good food choices and exercise and not just say, I'll wait til the first of the year and hit it hard. Come on, You know that happens a lot. I'm sure it's not just me. We aren't guaranteed Jan 1. Make today count.

@TrishasTime, The gingerbread house only took about an hour. It was a pre-fab kit that we used icing to glue together. My pastor only eats the Little Debbie Christmas tree cakes at the holidays. I'm sure he will be back on his healthy eating come January. He is a heart patient and lost almost 40 lbs last year doing Whole 30. I started watching Top Chef from season one and I'm currently on season 5. :)

@trooworld, I am so sorry about your little dog and his biopsy. I really hope it's benign. I know it's a bummer to have to shell out a bunch of money. We don't have insurance for our Maggie and if anything happens to her we will have no choice but to pay what is needed. They are our babies! I'm sure you will have a wonderful Christmas feast with your family! <3

@theslightedgeforever, I so enjoyed reading all your comments to everyone! You are the voice of wisdom that holds our little group together. :) I like the idea of having a plan on what you will eat and trying to stick to that. Candy is my downfall and I didn't plan on doing this gingerbread house thing until the last minute. Not an excuse but next time I really do need to stop and get a plan in place before and not afterward. YES!! I want to make some January goals and work towards them. I have some thoughts that I'm marinating over and will share in a few days.

So, yesterday I was feeling fine. Even had a great workout. Hubby and I decided that because it was such a nice day we would go out for a bit. Traffic was terrible but we persevered. Then I started to feel my throat aching and then I started sneezing. By evening I was in a full-blown head cold...again!! :s:# I woke up this morning feeling like crap so I didn't go to church, which is probably a blessing since it was our annual potluck breakfast. :p Hubby has been babying me and I will probably send him out for some dinner because the thought of cooking just doesn't sound appealing. I'm going to go back to my sofa and binge some more TV. :/

    Afternoon everyone

@theslightedgeforever - I would like to join you in a January Goal (if you do not mind) - mine would be for the days I am at work, to have an outside break for lunch and stay no longer than 8 hours. I will provide this group a workday status. I hope you have a very happy day with your family tomorrow and look forward to hearing what your Jan goal is..

@trooworld - when do you get the results for the biopsy? I have spent today prepping and I found if GD was near I would get stressed as it takes her 4 times longer to do things, then it takes me. Merry Christmas back to you. I do hope you have a nice time with your in-laws.

@TeresaW2010 - Geez - you can not win a trick at the moment, I hope your DH takes care of you over Christmas. Watch all the TV episodes of Top Chef whilst you can. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

@cbabie - Wishing you a merry Christmas and hope that 2019 brings you both peace and joy.

    @gemwold110 - Thanks for your thoughts - Wish you a great 2019.

@krupalip - Hello - Happy holidays to you and your family.

I have a full on day tomorrow with Lunch and then again on boxing day. So if I miss a couple of days, know that you are in my thoughts

@trooworld I'm glad everything went well for your inlaws meal. Progress on tracking would even be 91% I did something I never usually do tonight. I was at a Christmas Eve gathering and we were sitting outside around a fire. The food and sweets were inside. Which really is a good thing because it's not right there in my face. But I would walk in and grab a piece of Oreo fudge that I made and then walk back out. Instead of putting things on a plate and taking a pic like I normally do. My thought process was why waste a plate for one piece. A better thing to do would be decide what I'm eating and put it all on a plate and when the plate is empty STOP eating. I didn't do extremely bad. I ended up having half a bowl of chili, 3 pieces of fudge, and 2 roasted marshmallows. (I feel like singing and a partridge in a pear tree). I was looking at the book Bird Box the other day. They are having a sale on Amazon.

@TeresaW1020 Glad to hear your pastor eats healthy most of the time. I was having the same symptoms earlier today and I was thinking oh no, not again. Plus I didn't want to have to skip the firepit outing. I love sitting around a fire. But it's just a scratchy throat now.

@TrishasTime I'd like us all to have a January goal and then work on it and share our results weekly. I was thinking about my goals this morning and I'm going to make them very simple. I tried to teach my son how to make pancakes. He says there's a box for this mom. I said, yeah and it has lots of chemicals in it to just do what I tell you. I agree, I could have made 4 times the amount of pancakes that day and hubby was saying where's breakfast and my son was yelling then you get in here and make it DAD. I just smiled to myself thinking Ah, nice to have everyone home for the holidays......lol So what exactly do you celebrate with Boxing Day?

@krupalip How are you doing? Come tell us what you've been up to

Wishing you all happiness as we continue the holiday week. I'm going to have to give away half of the fudge I made to my neighbor otherwise I will eat it all one piece at a time. It really turned out good and it was easy.

Merry Christmas ladies!! I hope you are all having a wonderful day! <3

We are quiet here with just the two of us and our little Maggie Mae, which is fine. The sky is bright blue and it's just a beautiful day. I'm still fighting this cold but did manage to open presents and put some beef stew in the crockpot for our dinner this evening. I've already had two glasses of eggnog and more peppermint bark than I care to admit. I told hubby that I'm cutting myself some slack for the next couple of day and then I'm going to hit my weight loss hard.

I've decided to fully embrace WW as if I was a brand new member and give it my all come the first of the year. By then my cold and the goodies will be gone and I can resume my exercise, devote my attention to healthy eating, and see what I can do to get this weight off. I want 2019 to be the year I hit goal and make Lifetime. :)

    Morning everyone

@gemwolf110 _ Merry Christmas to you too

@theslightedgeforever - Well done on changing something on Christmas Eve (one of the hardest days bar Christmas Day) I bought my husband a "Google Home" and the arguing between him and the grand daughter was like having 2 young kids in the house.

@TeresawW2010 - Do you have the WW app on you phone or ipad/tablet. If you do, they have some wonderful groups in connect you can join like Recommitted, newbies, walking and other hobby groups. You could join them whilst getting over your cold and get some motivation, follow some people who you think are in a similar situation or have done the hard yards like you.

@trooworld - I think if you track, you learn more about yourself and how to cope. I went well yesterday, enjoying myself until after everyone left and then I had a fruit mince pie and rice crackers which I did not really want but I was tired. It bit into some of my weeklies - which is okay but the thing is I was not hungry just tired.

Today is boxing day and I have my son and 4 yr old GD again and of course DH parents. Son is coming up for lunch again so DH parents can see both grandchildren. I have just checked the fridge and I only have to nip out for 3 things and then start prepping again. It will not be on the scale of yesterday as DH's parents in theie mid 80's eat simple food.

Hoping everyone is out by 4pm, so I can clean up and get ready for work tomorrow

Hope you all have a relaxing day

Morning all! It's the day after Christmas and I have eaten way to many carbs and sweets. Someone sent me more chocolate for my birthday..LOL I too agree I need to get back to tracking, it's really the only way. It's funny when doing WW and I have 3 points left and I am tracking I am trying to find something with 3 points to eat, counting calories, and I have 200 cal left, I am just saying Oh I still have room and I just go eat it and track it later and find out I went over,...So I have to change my mindset.

@trooworld I laughed you and theslightedgeforever love Stickers as rewards.. Whatever it takes is what is required of us this next year. I have been saying, I don't want to be like my parents, but yet I have been acting like them...so I need to stop thinking about them and think about me being fit in 6 months...like I used to be. What you think about you are...

@TeresaW1020 Sorry you have been sick over Christmas..but I am glad you had some down time with DH and your pets. Yes enjoy the rest of the year with in reason and get back to tracking and exercising 1/2....

@TrishasTime I hope you get time to rest before going back to work tomorrow. It always make the week go better. The good thing is, this is Wed and not Monday. LOL You are so right about tracking...that's really my goal for 2019...

@gemwolf110 I hope you had a great Christmas and had some down rest time...

@krupalip hope you are doing well. Just wanted to say we miss you and are thinking of you.

@theslightedgeforever glad you didn't send me any of that fudge...My poor family didn't know what to do..I didn't make ANYTHING this year...just wasn't into it.. So maybe they will get it sometime during the year in 2019 and not have to wait until Christmas 2019..LOL Yes you are a woman of words of wisdom...

@cbabie - Glad to see you back. I have the exact issue with the points and calories as you do. I wander around the house looking for a 3 point thing - I have ordered some yoghurt on my next shop, so that should do the trick.

@trooworld - I have stickers when I lose weight, not for anything else, but I do get a buzz when my fitbit use to show fireworks when I reached my step goal. You need to do whatever it is to make it work for you.

@TeresaW2010 - Hope you are feeling better soon

@theslightedgeforever - what is your January goal

Hi Ho Hi Ho - it is off to work I go. Our studio meetings were shut over Xmas /Boxing (Not sure why - lol). I have found one that is close to work and opens at 6pm, so I will go there rather than wait a week. So it will be a longish day am to 5.30pm before heading off to the meeting. I am determined to get up every 40 min and have a walk at lunch

I will let you know tomorrow how successful that was, seeing I am covering 4 people jobs when I go in

    Take care everyone

Morning! I didn't do so well yesterday, but today is another day. I just keep trying!!

@trooworld My birthday is Christmas day. I also had an Aunt born on Christmas, she called us birthday twins..She loved old "father Christmas" or Santa Clauses...she had a collection of them. I wish I had gotten them, but I think her daughter got rid of them all. We don't really do anything for NYE...I think last year was the first year I stayed up to watch the ball fall..LOL Yes that saying is so true. I am glad you get another 4 days off...enjoy and relax!!

@TrishasTime Good for you for making an alternate plan. Sometimes we just have to go with the flow...lol Glad I am not the only one. I used to have an ice cream that I always ate as my "treat" that was 3 points...They don't make it anymore and I am too cheap to buy the good stuff. LOL Hope your day at work was not too stressful..covering all those people, you should get an extra day off. LOL

okay gals hope your day is the best.

    Good morning! <3

@cbabie, Happy Birthday!! :) Your example of points vs calories is one of the reasons I decided to go back to tracking points. I was finding myself being too lax on the calories. I think it will be easier to draw a hard line with points. We will see!!

@TrishasTime, I do have the WW app on my phone and I've gone on Connect a bunch of times but it's not a great place in my opinion for making connections. I love the before and after pics that get posted and I do follow a few inspiring people. I also have two really great groups on Facebook that I follow, as well as two challenge groups I do here on MFP, and of course this amazing group of ladies in this thread. <3

@trooworld, I think your calendar and sticker idea is a wonderful visual and will be a great help in keeping you focused on your goals!! I'm doing something similar and will share below. :) We don't do anything for New Years. We are currently binge watching The Amazing Race (starting with season one) so we will no doubt watch a few episodes and then call it a night by 10 pm. We are such party animals!! :p:D

@theslightedgeforever, so what is your game plan for the coming year? What words of wisdom can you give us that will keep us on track and focused for the whole year? I've already decided that biting off the year in chunks is a good idea for me. See below. ;)

Ya'll, I don't even know what day it is anymore!! :D I've been stuck in my house all loopy on cold meds and binging on eggnog and peppermint bark! Stop the madness!!! :# I did spend most of my day yesterday thinking about the coming year and how I plan to get to my goal weight. One of my FB groups is doing a 100-day challenge and I really liked the idea, so I made up the chart you see below and I plan to tackle 100 days at a time and break those down in ten-day chunks. If I do my goals then I will either put a sticker (love that idea ;) ) or color it in with a marker. My goal is to complete all 100 days with no slip ups and to lose at least 1 pound every 10 days. Doable if I'm consistent. I'm starting on January 1st and for the next five days I'm going to detox the crap I've been eating and get ready to start the New Year fresh and clean and ready for battle!! Who is with me!! B)

    This is my chart:

    Good morning all

It is Friday and I get to go to work today. We do not do anything for NYE as DH being police used to work. I would stay up and watch the other side of Australia which is 3 hours ahead fireworks on TV and then go to bed. I figure that NY would come if I am asleep or not. I did lose over Christmas (woohoo me) and for the first time I did not think I was deprived. I ate well on fresh food. I am tired and in pain this morning as I did 2 walks yesterday. I know when I am tired, I become vulnerable and just grab everything. To top it off - everyone is bring in morning tea to day. I am bringing a fruit platter, but there is homemade pate, cakes etc. I am telling you all this so I am accountable and I own it. I will update you guys tomorrow

@TeresaW2010 - I like your plan. I had to convert pounds to kg - I think that is truly doable - well done you. Love the binge watching. We are going to see the new movie Mary Poppins in News Years day.

@cbabie - Happy birthday - you are one of the rare ones that are actually born on Christmas day. It is funny that I only just read that stat. The biggest month for babies is September - go figure.

@trooworld - pork and sauerkraut - where that tradition come from? Your or DH family. First I have heard of it and my dad was German. I got an apple watch for Christmas and I still working it out - so very different from Fitbit.

    Take care everyone

@trooworld So is tracking going to be your January goal? Are you going to be tracking progress by day or by meal? Oh, I just saw your post about the stickers. Stickers are fun. The only thing I do traditionally on NYE is watch the ball drop. If I was married to someone different, I would be at a party somewhere. ;) He doesn't care about balls dropping or counting down to midnight. lol But I'm always thankful I get to spend the next year with him. Nice Buddha quote.

@teresaw1020 2019 is your year! Are you feeling better? Are you picking a January goal? That's interesting perspective on you with calories versus points. I'm sitting here trying to figure out how it would be easier to go over 200 versus go over on 3. I love the chart. But then I'm a chart person. This reminded me of the book 100 days of Weight Loss. I bought that book years ago but it's still good. Here's a free PDF version We could all get it and comment on it each day. Like a daily devotion. ebooksdownloads.xyz/search/100-days-of-weight-loss

@gemwolf110 I hope you had a nice Christmas. That house looks like Teresa's.

@TrishasTime Rice crackers are my nemisis. I can't seem to stop eating them so I had to stop buying them. Good for you for losing weight on Christmas. My daughter wants to see Mary Poppins.

@cbabie Teach your family to make their own Oreo fudge using my recipe. It's so easy. Just three ingredients. No basic cooking except for melting the white chocolate chips. I promised my son I would make him a batch to take to his friends since he only got one piece this last time. But that stuff is like crack. So it's not sitting in my house. While I was making it I was thinking about buying pretzels and making those like you used to do and then I had other bad thoughts come into my head about all the things I could do with this recipe. So the trick is to not buy those darn chips. How about concentrating on the things that you did well for the day. You might have done 3 things well and 1 thing not so well and you will say the whole day was bad. What are you doing for your January goal? How about "keeping track of things I do well".

My January goal will be 1) track and meet or exceed my calories burned goal each day 2) track and stay within my calorie limit each day. I have three different calorie goals during the week. EDIT: I just reread my post and decided limit was such a negative word. So I'm going to change it to allowance. Stay within my calorie allowance each day.

So I think our success all boils down to habits or daily actions. That's why I didn't choose a weight goal for January. With sodium bloat, hormones, etc. I don't think I could control a number on the scale for a particular day. But I can control my actions and habits. Everything I'm reading says to make the habit a tiny one and build from there. We all want to start running 5Ks but don't have the habit of getting out there to walk daily yet. Or we decide we are going to cut out all our sugar instead of seeing what your current intake is and reducing it. My sugar goal for instance is 50 gm. In the last 30 days I went over 10 days (probably more since I didn't track the last week, that's not like me at all.) So I might set my goal to 8 days. Or to be positive, I met my sugar goal 20 days out of 30. For the next month, I will meet my sugar goal 22 days. See that little tiny increase? That's what my username SLIGHTEDGE is all about. Just a small change or adjustment over a period of time.

Anticipate your obstacles in meeting your goals each day and create a solution ahead of time. So off the top of my head using my goals:

    Burned calories:

    My obstacles are
not in the mood to exercise,
telling myself 30 min is enough (I exercised didn't I?),
telling myself I'll exercise later in the day

    Solutions:
Make it fun. Watch one of your TV shows while you are on the treadmill. Just do 5-10 minutes.
Keep track of calories and burn the required calories for the day. Walking 10 minutes around the room or house is still walking. It burns calories. Find exercises that burn more calories per min. Leslie Sansone videos burn more calories than walking on a treadmill for the same amount of time.
Never trust your future self......Once I'm done with my breakfast outside, keep moving and go to the gym or exercise. Don't sit down to read or just look at my phone.

    Stay within calories

    My obstacles are
Not having a plan for the day
The food I plan doesn't appeal to me so I'll grab something else
Not tracking my food right after I eat it but wait until the end of the day and now I've gone over calories

    Solutions:
Pre-plan your meals either the night before or first thing in the morning.
Learning to stick with the food that is planned is a habit to be developed. Eating the same foods that made me fat will keep me fat. I'm not a smoothie fan, but I will eat the same ingredients whole but separate. Tell myself, just this once I will drink a smoothie. I did find a chocolate smoothie recipe I like using cocoa, hershey's sugar free syrup and stevia. Find healthy foods I like.
I'm pretty good about tracking my foods daily because I preplan them and just eat what I've planned. The problem comes when I don't eat what's planned and my brain tells me I've already tracked. So I forget. I could set a reminder on my Fitbit.

So think about your goals and what obstacles have been keeping you from reaching your goals?

Morning! Yes we are all looking forward to 2019, I know we each should look at what didn't work and put that behind us and don't do it...change is in the air.

@prisoner2food I am sure you are crazy, I have a 4 month GGD that lives with and I seemed to always have a baby task...could be play, change diaper, put to sleep, feed...you know all those things a baby does. LOL So I pray you get some rest. just make sure to take care of you...they need you healthy to enjoy them and they you!!

@gemwolf110 , sounds like a plan, I have been on a roller coaster as well...so we can attack 2019 together and maybe cross some flat land in TX for a bit..LOL

@trooworld hope you had a good day at work, and that you get to relax now until Wed..LOL We can all come into 2019 with 1 thing different we want to do..

@trishastime congrats on your loss...you are doing great!!

@theslightedgeforever .....LOL I can only say you have your words of wisdom...and you are never at a loss for them. Thank you for bringing new insight to our group. We can always learn or we should just throw in the towel...but I think that not one person on this team is ready to quit...That is a good thing!!!!
Can I say over achiever..LOL (Love you)

    Morning everyone

I am still battling with new watch , after having a fitbit for so long, it is totally different and exciting. It woke me this morning and said time to stand and move. That is what I meant with battling, I need to fond that setting and say "not before 7am on weekends" I did do well yesterday - actually I am proud of myself. All the food came out and I had a couple of slices of pineapple and complimented everyone on what they made and bought. We have an lady , with us and she made some sort of flavoured rice. I told her that I would have some at lunch and she made sure I got some. So I ate around it and then popped my lunchbox with her rice in and it back into its bag and brought it home to the bin. I was determined to stick with the plan

@theslightedgeforever - My Goal for January will be to get 20 blue dots out of the month. Blue dots mean that you have tracked and have stayed within 10 under to 5 over your daily allowance. I want to walk 30 mina day 6 times per week. I like that you put things into a half glass full scenario. Can you please share your 3 ingredient fudge receipe?

@gemwolf110 _ Glad you had a relaxing time with Christmas. I think we all are in the mindset that 2019 is the year

@prisoner2food - I do hope you have a small amount of time to yourself each day. Hope things get easier after Jan 7th

@trooworld - Hope you have a relaxing days off. As @theslightedgeforever says - it is habits that make a change. That it is why WW is concentrating on wellness - which is all the little good habits we build into our lives. If we keep doing that then the weight will follow automatically. I personally think it is a more holistic approach.

@cbabie - I am trying to adopt more of your sisters way. Instead of saying I have to go to work, I am now saying I get to go to work as a lot of people do not have that option. Before I would say, I did not do that walk in a certain time. Now I say I walked today which is the better habit that I am trying to achieve rather than berate myself for not walking fast enough. As you say, we are not giving up and I for one am glad that you created this and I found you guys

    Take care

Hello, all! I did WW for brief time and got frustrated with the points as I found it confusing. I think I had 23 points for the day and most were gone before lunch!! What do people think of Freestyle vs smart points vs points plus? I was thinking of doing Ibites and MFP together. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance!!

    Good morning! :)

@theslightedgeforever, love how you broke down your obstacles and solutions! How true it is that we have to first start by being real with ourselves and knowing what our issues are so that we can begin to overcome them. I plan to be just as real with myself. Thanks for the link and I would love to read the book but that site wants me to sign up and provide a credit card to start my "free" membership. That isn't something I should be doing when hubby is stressing over our current bills. :/

@TrishasTime, good for you for sticking to your plan! It can be so hard to resist when people are pushing food on us but you prevailed and she was none the wiser. :D I'm going to strive to get all blue dots in January. So far my calendar doesn't have anything on it that should prevent me from staying on plan. We can do it!! <3

@cbabie, isn't it great to have each other to start 2019 with? Putting off the old and putting on the new is what we all need to be doing. :)

@gemwolf110, I agree with you that 2019 is a time to begin anew. I had a rough 2018 as well and I'm ready to take control of my health and fitness and make it the best year ever! B)

@prisoner2food, sometimes you just have to do the best you can. You will get back on track!! :)

@trooworld, I hope you are enjoying your time off! <3 I just have to say that I really like the pork and sauerkraut idea much more than the black-eyed peas and collard greens. Everyone I know down here in Georgia eats black-eyed peas and collards on the 1st. Looking at my menu for the week, we will be having tuna salad and sweet potato chips. I sure hope there is some luck somewhere in that meal. :D:D:D

@sme5056, WW can be confusing until you get the hang of it. I have only ever known Smart Points and Freestyle is smart points, with the added zero point food list. 23 points isn't a lot which is why you have to supplement with zero point foods, but you have to be really careful not to eat too many because zero doesn't mean calorie free. I did both WW and calorie counting for the last few months and it really helped me understand my portions better. Best advice is to find what works for you and do it. :)

Whew!! I've already typed a book to ya'll! :D Finally my cold is much better and yesteday I worked all day to pack up Christmas decoration and get my house back in order. Having everything fresh and clean again is how I like to go into the New Year. I've been stuck inside the house since Dec. 23rd and I'm so ready to get out and do something! Tomorrow after church I'm going to Kohls to spend my Kohls cash before it expires and then over to Trader Joes to stock up on healthy edibles.

I got my charts ready to go and up on the fridge. YES, the pic you see is of my fridge and hubby is my accountabily buddy. Is it possible that I'm a little too chart happy!! :D:D

I'm here but no time to talk. My kids are leaving tomorrow so we've been having a lot of family time with a fire and playing cards.

@sme5056 Welcome to the group. I think all of those plans work if you work the plan. It depends which fits better into your lifestyle. I started with points plus but I can see how the transition to the other plans seems to lean toward healthier foods. For me, points plus was eat whatever I wanted to as long as I stayed within the points. Then they started making the unhealthier foods higher points so it made it harder for me to stay within my points. I say choose whatever plan will make it easier for you to lose weight. I have prediabetes and tried tracking with Ibites and MFP but it got to be too much for me. So now I just use MFP. Have you tried Freestyle? Filling your plate with mostly zero point foods and then adding pointed items.
