Morning everyone,
Hope your Septmber is going well. Hard to believe it's already the 11th and I'm just arriving here!
I took a break from logging this year, with moving and setting the house up, and commuting for work, I wanted some space to attend to them.
I didn't do too badly, but around the end of August I could feel my clothes were getting tighter, so started logging again. It's going well so far, I'm dropping the weight to where I was. Following this year's health check, I have new goals now:
- lose 1 kilo by end of September.
- maintain sodium intake at average 600mg per day.
- establish Pilates and yoga classes (Pilates already booked for Tuesday mornings, found a Friday yoga class, but not registered yet).
Best wishes everyone, look forward to seeing your progress!

Happy Sunday
Weighed in this morning got to 132 at last, only 6 lbs to goal hooray!
Going to Spain for 8 days on 26th will have WiFi so can keep up with you all but I won't be logging
Will do a lot of walking though so hopefully won't do too much damage
Going out today for a drink, have pre logged food and drink so should be ok except I tend to get the munchies after alcohol. Never said I was perfect
I have a fridge magnet which says
"I know I'm not perfect but I'm so close it scares me"

Morning Ladies~
cloudy gloomy morning this morning... we desperately need some rain..going to Michael's celebration of life this afternoon. and back at it for work on Monday..
Like I told you yesterday they had an Open House yesterday for the Wellness center upstairs, my old bosses wife the landlady was there, and she told me when they had a meeting that , I was such an asset to the business , that I was under valued and that I deserved a raise.. will never see a raise , they are to cheap for that. but it was nice to hear that someone does appreciate me...
Also another friend stopped in yesterday when I was working and she retired from a state job last december, her dad left her a place in a 55 park and she and her husband have been down there since January,,,they rent there house to there DD and her boyfriend, for 500.00 a month so the taxes are taken care of with the stipulation that they have a bedroom that is theres when they visit...
They are loving life. enjoying retirement.... that is what I hope to do in a few years.. God Willing0 -
Kate UK - Great job on the walk. :flowerforyou: I donated to a friend who was doing it in Wales. A very up and down coastal walk. Last year she broke her hip and her ankle so it was quite a milestone for her.
Pip - Great photos. Hope Day 2 is just as fabulous!
Janetr - You seem to be having a wonderful time.
Here is a Bea fix. I actually took this pic with my phone. (Usually it's DDIL)
This is DH and DS building the playhouse. The grandkids are watching.
With my new found strength I also helped DS build it by holding crucial parts together while he drilled. I also helped them carry it down the garden. Go me!
And I could not resist this one! Just because. . . . . .
DDIL was able to go out for her Park Run - 5 k. She did it in 27.27. She also managed a short tennis lesson on Friday night, so I feel we were of help. That playhouse would not have got made without us. It was completed in the rain!!!
I went way over calories, but I can now get back to my normal lower carb, higher protein diet. One of our jobs while we were in Hove was to go out with the grandchildren to buy cheesy rolls, seeded sourdough bread, brownies and gingerbread men from the local bakery.
Tonight is Hairy Bikers with garden runner beans. There are loads of beans out there.
Kim - Unfortunately all casual employment is going down that route. I can understand the reasons for it, but it is a real pain. The hours you mentioned do sound ridiculous. Someone not thinking. I think you are right about the door closing. Sometimes that can be a good thing. (HUGS)
Lots of love to all, Heather UK

heather wonderful pictures! Sounds like it was a fantastic visit, so happy.
Chugging along with tracking my new habits. Going to meal plan and shop accordingly today. Maybe even sneak in another weekend nap--falling in love with the weekend nap!!
A full week ahead but not too many late nites so I should get in some regular workouts and nice dinners to share with DH.
Peace, NYKAREN2 -
Janetr gorgeous pictures!

Good Morning! I am loving all the photos. That Bea! Yummy girl.
Ride, Pip, Ride! Can you feel us ghost riders?
Janetr, you are well on your way! Have a fabulous time!
Yesterday we toured the Stanley Hotel as I mentioned in another post:
This is a beautiful stair railing:
Can you see the face in the flag? Upper right portion of the flag:
Thank you everyone who posted about altitude sickness and about Estes Park. It is fun to see who we intersect with in experiences, and I am thankful for the good advice. I am feeling downright perky, having avoided alcohol, hydrated and exercised. 12,000 feet elevation (yesterday's road trip up Trail Ridge) is up there! I'm not sure I have ever been above the tree line before. It was and is glorious. Once we drove to the top we climbed up to a lookout. Sure is easy to get winded at that altitude, but the view was worth the effort. This doesn't do it justice:
Later in the day we saw lots of beautiful elk:
I don't have the photo of the friend with the Highlander in the kilt yet. Later.
Warmest thoughts to those with ailments and worries.
We wind up in Estes this morning, then I head to Denver to see my brother before heading to the airport. Taking a red eye flight.
Today, on the 15th anniversary of 9/11, I am mindful of how precious living in a free society is, and I am grateful for the sacrifices that have been made so that I can live this way.

Good morning all! Happy Sunday! Loving all of the pictures posted! Heather's latest adventures with the DGCs (I love the smile on DH's face as he lays on the floor with DGD), Pip's bike race adventures look amazing and I think she should wear a Go-Pro camera on her head next year and film it, so we can all go along, KateUK is looking great as she gets ready for her walk, Vicki with the purple hair...sometimes you just have to have fun and color your hair purple, and Charleen's beautiful tree skirt! Oh my, would I love to be able to quilt like you!
Purl- loved hearing about your canning day! My SIL and I get together at her house early in October each year and pick, clean, and juice grapes from her vineyard. Last year the two of us had a marathon weekend of making a record breaking (for us) 184 pints of grape jelly. My daycare kids love it and call it "Miss Kelly Jelly". This year the harvest looks even bigger; we are hoping more ladies show up and help us; we are going to attempt, not only the jelly, but some wine as well! I hope your day on the water works out!
Had a rainy day yesterday, so spent the morning getting shopping, food prep, errands run; still raining in afternoon so I picked up my SIL from the campground (my brother had to work yesterday, so she was alone on the beach on a rainy day) and we had lunch at our local pub. Very nice! Two hours of girl talk over a lo carb meal and a high carb beer!
The sun is out today, so it looks like the lawn will need mowing (again). I will wait until 10:30 or 11:00 out of respect for a quiet Sunday morning for my neighbors.
My love and hugs go out to all of you who are remembering the 9-11 attacks. I remember it well, as do many of us; but I have turned off the media coverage of it. I cry every year when the media coverage begins to memorialize the event. I remember the heartbreak, confusion, uncertainty, and fear. It was a defining moment in our recent history. But this year, I just can't listen to the coverage. I look at the images of the day and I realize, this is one attack on the U.S.. One. There are countries that endure this type of horror every day. There are children living in this fear every day of their lives.
I, by no means, am making light of the attacks, the losses suffered, or our perseverance, and recovery as a nation. But we are a lucky, lucky nation. We have a strong infrastructure, a huge amount of wealth to work with and use for recovery ( as compared to other countries). I will take this time, after I have prayed for survivors, families of those lost, and our country; and I will pray for people in other countries who live with this type of terror as a norm. I will thank God that our children do not live in a place where gun fire, mortar explosions, and terror are something that they have gotten used to because it happens every day.
Sorry for the downer ending to my post. I think I need to get outside and walk off the cloud and let the sun on my face.
It is a new day my friends! A new day, a clean slate, a fresh start! Love to you all!

Karen- You posted while I was writing! Love the pics! That railing/bannisters; absolutely gorgeous! Why is there a face in the flag? I see it, but is it supposed to be there or is it something that your eyes happened to see in it (like a Rorschach test)?0

Michele in NC - You are a sharp bird! The slit and little center circle will not be made until after it has been quilted. That way the whole piece is stable (not stretching this way and that) while it is being quilted. I'll need to add a little bit of piping and of course binding on the raw edges too.
In quilting lingo what I took a picture of is called a 'topper'. The next step is 'quilted' when the topper, batting (in the middle stuff) and the backing are all sewn together. Then I can add piping and the binding and it will be called 'Done', my favorite part of quilting.4 -

Good morning,
The pictures that all you travelers are sending are great!! And I loved the pictures of Bea. I also liked the one with her older sister holding her hands over her ears to block out the noise.
Lenora, I didn't mean to say all men take forever to do things. Just some, my DH included. I was mostly amused that he bought the water bottle that spoke to a common complaint of mine. My DH would much rather read. My dad, on the other hand, would start things and then take forever to finish because he was such a perfectionist, and taking a long time meant that he could escape from people (by his own admission). But, as we so often find in this discussion, our husbands are as different from one another as we are from each other.
Janet, The Phillips place in OK is beautiful!
Karen in VA, I get pretty awful altitude sickness. I can go up to 9000 without too much difficulty--just have to take it easy and drink lots of water. 12,000 is a real challenge. Before I knew about altitude sickness, I flew from NJ, where I lived at the time, to Boulder, CO on a Saturday. The next day we drove into the mountains and took a hike from 10,000 to over 12,000. I was stopping to huff and puff every few steps. Meanwhile, our 70 year-old host was practically galloping right up the mountain! I was about 35 and in the best shape of my life, and I had grown up in a relatively high area (6500 feet). But it doesn't matter when it comes to altitude.
Charleen, the tree skirt is gorgeous! And thanks for the explanation about the slit in the skirt. I, too, wondered about it.

The hotel is haunted...that's the only explanation I am aware of.
Karen E Thanks...I was feeling just a little bit humiliated about having to take the rest breaks...but in retrospect, I think I did OK!

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Morning Ladies,
VickieNE, I hope the dentures fit right and don’t give you any trouble. I have friends that have all sorts of problems with theirs and others that never had to go back after the first fitting. Good luck!!!
Janice, just a suggestion, mind you…..but I think you’d be better to concentrate on logging your intake rather than what you are burning. LOL But do keep living, regardless of how many calories it takes.
MicheleNC, so are you saying that you’d like Vince to take care of projects a bit faster????? You had me rolling on that one. They can get frustrating.
Brenda, welcome. This is a great place for support and information so come often. Congrats on your great start.
KJ, that story about meeting your brother sounds like something I’d go through. Glad you finally got to meet up and had a good time.
KarenVA, have a great time with your friends.
BarbBee, welcome. It is a good idea to work on one thing at a time. Good luck with your walking and biking.
Tracey, that sounds just like a man to get less material than you said was needed. LOL Why is it so hard for them to believe us?
Kate, how tall are you. You are a tiny thing to only weigh 123. Remember we only compete with ourselves. Very few could do the walking that some of these ladies do. (In my case, I wouldn’t want to. LOL)
Charleen, the skirt is beautiful. You are so talented.
Pip, I love all the pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Kim, if you are ever talking to one of the other venues about cooking classes, just tell them you are a home cook like Rachel Ray. She hasn’t done too badly.
Barbie, our dance instructor had to cancel class for two weeks when she had back surgery and it was fine with us. Trust me, they will understand. I’m just glad you can get this taken care of.
Janetr, cool pictures. Love the little green gas station.
to any Newbies that I missed. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
Yesterday I was pretty lazy and didn’t do much other than cook. I’m only through page 21 but will post now and head to the gym. It’s a sad day in the USA, remembering 9-11. I’m sure all of us remember exactly where we were when we heard the news. Let us never forget.
Sending love and good thoughts to all of you and I hope you all have a Happy and Healthy Day!
Words I live by:

Thanks to all sharing photos of their adventures! Everything and everyone looks wonderful. A special shout out to Pip and her hubs for their accomplishments! You are an inspiration for sure.
Enjoying my cup of coffee and watching CBS Sunday Morning.
I think I did more in this week than I did in 3 years living in Akron which to me means I like living here! Went to the BookClub at the library on Tuesday evening and had a wonderful conversation about the book My Grandmother Told me to Tell You She's Sorry. It was a small group of women and a lively discussion. On Wednesday I went to the TAMU Newcomer's lunch meet-up at the First Watch restaurant. Met several nice women seated directly around me and will definitely attend the next luncheon next month. On Wednesday evening the hubs and I went to a presentation at the TAMU Hillel. A presentation put on by a visiting Torah Scribe explaining the process he goes through to restore Torahs. We met the Hillel Rabbi and will definitely be attending more events/services.
Yesterday we went down to Houston to secure an apt for our son when he relocates to Houston in 4 weeks. Had him on the phone as we went through the first place we visited. We all felt it was a great fit for him and he went ahead and put in his application. It is a high-rise building just minutes from downtown where he will be working. Now he and hubs are working on arrangements for moving his goods.
Spent a lot of time on the phone trying to secure drs, dentists etc. Ugh what a process it is to get this part of moving in place. Found the dentist and have those appt made. Will continue the search for a doctor this week.
I've set an hourly alarm on my phone to get up and walk 250+ steps each hour. My hobbies are sedentary in nature-reading, crocheting, papercrafting-so I need this discipline in my life. This is on top of what I get when going to the gym and during the 4 "walking" phone call chats my daughter and I have each day. Spent so much time in the car yesterday that at 8pm I was walking circles around the house and hubs thought I was crazy..."I am not going to bed before I have my 10,000 steps!"
Have a wonderful Sunday. Think of all of you during my day!
Cheri
sunny greeting from College Station, TX

Kate UK: I love that you were on a walk to fight Alzheimers. WTG! :flowerforyou:
Heather: I love the photos, especially the one of your DH with Bea.
Karen from VA in CO: I love the photos and your stories of Colorado.
I posted this on the news feed, but want to share it here, too. Today is 9/11, an anniversary of tragedy in our nation. Today is also the anniversary of my mother's birthday. She would have been 102 today if she had lived. I've always been grateful that she did NOT live to see the events of 9/11. She would have taken them personally and been devastated.
On a happier note, we're planning to take a road trip to the beach today, just for the day. I'm hoping to visit Astoria's Sunday Market, a hike on the beach and have a nice lunch somewhere along the way.

Love all the photos! Bea is amazing and the pic of Heather's DH and GD is cute. Would love to visit that hotel. I love touring old places like that. Pip and Kirby look happy and tired.
Overindulged in wine and food yesterday and am paying for it today. No way to log it. There is always tomorrow, thank God!

morning ladies~
been busy today.. went through my clothes and put away all my skinny ones, I know I will get back in them someday, but dont want them sprawled all over the place.. so packed them away and got my fat clothes out that I need to wear for now.. again, those will go away someday too..
will be leaving in a bit to go to my friends celebration of life, aka a party.. because that is what this family was like, get everyone together and have a great time and share memories of a wonderful man... made ribs and noodles for Tom for early dinner and I am sure he will take a nap.. I look forward to spending time with friends...
I have thought long and hard about how I want to be remembered, and I have no regrets except that I couldn't make my children happy as adults.. I have always treated everyone with love and respect and even though at least my DD has a huge chip on her shoulder I think I did ok in there early years, she doesn't want to remember all the good things, just points out the bad.. I digress....
If the Good Lord took me today I would have no regrets, Love and you get Love in return... Hate and you get it 10 fold.. be kind to one another, speak kind words.. we only have one shot at life and lets make the best of it!!
Thinking of 15 yrs ago and all the people that lost loved ones and families that lost moms, dads, brothers.sisters... Pray for them all1 -
Hi Gals,
Barbie – So glad you met the gal who had used your doctor, that would have made me feel a bit better about the surgery. I am so impressed at your plans to contribute and work out how to handle the dance commitments while you are out.
Kate and Pip – great job on the walk/bike!
Heather – thanks…. And the Bea pictures are wonderful
Karen – great pictures
KJ – I have done grape syrup, basically jelly without the pectin, it is a wonderful treat on icecream, pound cake, pancakes…
Thank you for your insight on 9-11, it is a sad day, but you are right it is a day to honor the past and be thankful for what we have.
Cheri – my book club read My Grandmother Told me to Tell You She's Sorry, as did a friends book club, did you like it? My club did not and my friend’s club loved it..
September Goals:
2 fun things a week, Lizard saving, gardening in my own yard
Log everyday to the best I can, over if need be.
11,000 + steps everyday
Work on water consumption -
Smiles.

Hi All, new to this board. Everyone sounds so helpful and friendly so I thought I'd join in. I slid back a lot this summer and am now getting back on track to resume weight loss (I hope!)
My September goals are
1) 30 min cardio exercise 5 X week
2) log food every day
3) eliminate night-time eating
This week and weekend I pushed myself to do some social things I would normally have skipped in order to be out of the house at night and I had a lot of fun! So that was an extra bonus (goal was to avoid nighttime eating).

Good afternoon girls!
I often worry bout saying girls. For some reason some women find that offensive. But inside I feel the same as I always did even if the vessel which contains me reminds me of my age.....
Loved loved all the photos! The scenery was gorgeous! And we are getting a break on the humidity today so it is beautiful out. I read your posts with my 'rocket fuel' as Re would say and downed a quart of water. I thought I could go for a walk while everyone was still in church without them beeping and waving on the way (for some reason I prefer anonymity with my exercise) so I laced up and headed up the alley and ended up by the cemetery. It is older (dating back to the late 1800s in the oldest section and has tree lined drives through it. So I racked up 2.5 miles and enjoyed the sun and the breeze. Saw more stones their for people we have known than I would like but at least they don't beep and wave ( what an awful thing to say!) I really enjoyed it and happy to have found a place to walk but also be peaceful. So thanks for the photos I enjoyed myself because of them!
Charleen- I m in awe of the tree skirt!
Janet- I like Ree's show too but would be afraid to log a lot of that food! I am waiting to see when they get the merc done and open! Perhaps you can visit and share it with us so we can live vicariously through you!
Heather- keep sharing the babies! Makes me wish we were GPs.... Sighs......
Kate- congrats on being so close to goal. You are about 10 -12 pounds ahead of me..... We are on vacation next month and like you I am hoping to do enough walking to minimize the damage. Seems like keeping up with water is hard for me when I travel too.....
Need to get moving around here..... Catch up later!
Time to put Red zone on tv while I work!
Tracey- from a gorgeous day in PA0 -
