Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening Ladies,
Elizabeth, sorry to hear about your health problems. Sending healing thoughts your way. We are here for you.
KJ, I definitely would think you’d count the walking while you have a mower in front of you. Why wouldn’t you???
Linda, glad the Wii said no harm. Please keep that frost up there for a while. I’m not even ready for summer to end, just don’t want so much humidity for a while.
Cheri, (((((Hugs))))) back at ya and to all the ladies here. I hope Texas is treating you good!!
Charleen, a big CONGRATS for under=growing all those blouses!!! How wonderful. Too bad you took the time to iron them all.
Pip, great article! I hope Kirby likes it.
Kay, I was thinking about you today and wondered how you were going. Glad to see you post if it was a shortie.
Allie, so sorry about the spat with Tom. Does he not want you to go to the kidney doctor????? He needs to get a grip.
Rori, aren’t those massages at the chiropractor’s office the greatest?
to any Newbies that I missed. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
I’ve been pretty lazy this week. Of course it rains every day. Our back yard is just soggy and Pepper (the little Poodle) doesn’t want to get off the patio to do his business. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice and then another 5 or 6 days of rain. Oh well.
Sending love and good thoughts to all of you and I hope you all have a Happy and Healthy Day!
Words I live by:
Savor. I have to slow down and savor every bite.
and
Opportunity. Each day offers new opportunities for good health and happiness if we just look for them and choose them.
I Love you,
DJ

Dr. Katie, you have to use coupons to be able to get your good deals. I do love their styles. I am glad that the outlet store price isn't any better than the ones in my Mall.

Rori, the pain in my legs is caused by narrowing of three vertebrae thus pressing on nerves that connect to my legs...the surgery is called laminectomy....I called it roto-rootering my vertebrae but the point is to remove the excess bone and bone spurs to open up the vertebrae and take the pressure off the nerves so the pain goes away....there will be an incision in my back to allow the surgeon access to the vertebrae. I feel very blessed to be able to anticipate this surgery one moment at a time and I credit meditation for a great part of my healthy attitude6

drkatiebug - I've missed you, so happy to see you post1 -
Did an hour on the bosu today. The plan for tomorrow is to a Kelly Coffee Meyers 30 Minutes to Fitness DVD. I'll probably do it twice for an hour.
After exercising went to play mahjongg then go to WalMart. Now home, got dinner ready to just microwave.
katla - that is so nice of you to be so open about the horse. So many people would just not take her and drop it there. But you were thinking of the horse and are even going to follow thru. That's wonderful!
Elizabeth - I hope and pray that the doctor is right, too
Charleen - congrats on the blouse being too big. What an awesome feeling
pip - what a great article! I especially liked the part when Kirby was riding and eventually you lost site of him
Lenora - I agree with you on the sizing of clothes. I have a pair of 4P pants that fit me great. Then I have another pair of 10P that fit. Now you explain that big a difference! There was an article recently in *Consumer Report* about sizing.
Karen in VA - I love shopping at the Salvation Army. You never know what you'll find. And you're right, you can wear something for a short time then redonate it and get something new!

WOW missed A day and feel like I missed so much in reading all the post.
RE - thank you for the uplifting encouragement. Yes the last two days I have been on track and have been much better.
I had a surprise visitor at my front door also today. I had taken an alley cat to the shelter about one year ago she appeared back at my door today. I was so surprised to see her but I have 2 dogs inside an older dog in which the cat wouldn't mind but then I have a toy poodle who is only a-year-old. So of course the cat would not come in and in a couple months winter will be here and I hate feeling she will be out in the cold. I am really trying to figure something out for poor Maddie cat.
Well good nite all

Hi Gals,
I read everything but took no notes… thinking of you all, with things to cheer about, hugs to share, the ups and downs - Especially Barbie with upcoming surgery!
It has been a crazy week and next week will not be much better… work is more than I can keep up with! I can’t imagine how I will make it, but my checking account loves it. Tomorrow I am hosting a tomato tasting for my garden club, Monday is book club at my house and I am making dinner, I am doing 5 different salads and homemade ice cream sandwiches…
I’m exhausted. Yet there is no space for a down day. The joy of being self employed. To add to it my mom had a chemical stress test today and I could not be there, so I was stressed all day! I did eat about 4 cookies.. not too bad. She has a pace maker and was having some shoulder/upper chest area soreness so she went to have her pace maker checked and her cardiologist has done a ton of testing, the pacemaker, echocardiogram, stress test, ekg…and I think she has a sore muscle… but the cardiologist could only hear chest pain = heart…. Specialists! Can’t live with them, can’t live without them!!!
September Goals:
2 fun things a week, Lizard saving, gardening in my own yard, Lunch with Kyle, lunch with a friend, worked at the water way clean up,
Read and report on a book
Log everyday to the best I can, over if need be.
11,000 + steps everyday
Work on water consumption -
Smiles.

Allie – It never feels good to have a ‘screaming match’ with a family member. Whose kidney is it anyway? Seems like it is a 'necessary evil', no matter what.
barbiecat – Will be thinking about you with prayers on my heart.
Joyce, Indiana – When DH takes me to Macon to see my MD, we eat with a group of my former HS friends and some of their spouses; and then we ALWAYS head to “Bass Pro Shop”. We don’t have one in our area. So, I always buy something [actually he does] for myself.
Rori – My BF will buy tops that after wearing them doesn’t like the way they hang off her shoulders; so I usually get them gifted to me. She has very narrow shoulders. I commented on one that was really pretty, the next time I was ‘in town’ she had it and 3 others to give me. One was a ‘periwinkle’ colored one, I wore it 2x before I spilt clear fingernail polish on it. Haven’t found that color anywhere since; and, I loved it. Boo Hoo!
drkatiebug – There is an outlet store south of Atlanta; and, that might be the outlet mall Carol is talking about. That would be right off the interstate on her way to or back from visiting her Mom. I’ve never gone there but it is a large place with a lot of different stores. I rarely shop with my DH; he hates it, unless he is buying hunting or fishing items.
pipcd34 – Awwww! I can remember when my late/former boss had to ‘go out of office because of medical reasons’ … he got very teary-eyed when he made a speech at a reception that all the attorneys in town gave for him. I think a lot of us were teary-eyed. He joked that the suit he had on would probably not be worn but once again; and, it probably would not fit him any better. I had not seen him in several months … he had lost so much weight. It was sad.
Michelle – One reason why ‘high-end’ stores sell things for higher price, the sizes are smaller (according to the tag); and, some women are vain enough to pay 2x a much just to say they wear a size 2. I know several that do that. I just wait until they appear in the consignment shop. They only take ‘in season’, ‘in fashion', 'no tears or stains' on the clothes they take in. I only wore my 'mother-in-law' dress once, before it got too big for me. It had a lace overlay and just would not have been able to be altered successful. And the sell them for only a ‘fraction’ of the cost, too. I have found things at Goodwill and there that still have the stores’ tags on them.
Barb Bee, Indiana – My husband and son ‘swear’ that ‘if you take a cat across a bridge’ it won’t come back. I’m not sure that is actually true; they just want to make sure if we take off a feral cat that we take it far enough away that it won’t show back up. A former neighbor of mine gave me the cat that her husband 'hated' because it would make the lab sleep out on the carport while he slept in the heated dog house. We were putting up a pen for him to stay in while he got used to a 'new' home. It took him 5 days but, he made it back to their house. I had told her that he had run away. I was so upset about it, afraid something would eat him up. She called and asked if I wanted him back. I told her 'no, he'd probably run away again'. So she took me to the "Cat House" (our county's shelter for cats). Found Tux there. Sweetest 'outside' cat, ever! But, he will bust out of cardboard animal box (and he is so big that he literally cannot even turn around in it. When we take him to the vet, we usually just let him sit wherever in the car he wants; about 1/2 way there, he sits in my lap and lays his head on the arm rest.
I’ve heard of dogs making long trips to get back to owners, like if they get lost while family is on a trip with them along with it. I could sort of understand that more. Their sense of smell is so strong that it ‘sticks’ with them for a long time. But, when we adopted Cracker they put a chip inside of her, so that if she gets lost or hurt, they can find out that she is our pet. She has wanted to go outside a lot this last week or two. So, I have just let her go. I think she believes if she goes outside, her “daddy” will come home earlier. When he drives into the driveway, she goes to the door and cries until I let her out. She is so ‘vocal’ and ‘animated’. We really believe ‘if she could talk’ she would. Tonight I let her out about 9:30 and something must have scared her ... the way she was barking was like 'save me, mama, now'!!!!!!
After I had eaten my calories; and, NOT gone over my CI; my DH wanted some soup. I was thinking … darn it … it’s the weekend; and, I never know what I’ll be eating (or ‘if’ we’ll be eating at home). It’s only been about 2 weeks since “Cheddar’s” opened; still don’t think it has been long enough not to have to wait to be seated, so we are staying away. I’d still have to cut my entrée in ½ and bring it home for the next day. Took me 2 days to eat DH’s left-overs from “Zaxby’s”.
I did count all my CI and went over by 318; but, I did work a little over 200 CO, so while I don’t show that I ‘eat them back’ … I feel better about not going over and then ‘not doing something’ as exercise. I’m clearing out things, working towards “Thanksgiving”, which might not be held this year (at our house); depends on whether DYS and DDnL#2 (and maybe DSGD – who might be with her daddy this year) come. IF not, I think we are going to just eat a ham that I will make the night before. I like ham better than turkey (although my DOGD makes a ‘mean’ dressing). I'm not even going to 'ask' the 'crew' on the other side of the driveway ... unless I know they are coming. After this Monday evening ... I'm not sure I want to be around my DnL#1. I finally found a copy of the email she wrote me back in November. She hasn't be very friendly since. Maybe if my DOS can 'see' what she does to me, he will understand my frustration with her; but, I won't show it to him unless she makes another scene in OUR home again. She's had a 'cold shoulder' since; and, only has driven me places when she was 'out-of-work'. Then she posted unkind comments about me. DYS saw it and he got really 'upset' about it.

Greetings from the massive post Elton John traffic jam that will probably last the rest of my life. We live 20 minutes from the venue and have been in traffic for over an hour. We r not halfway home. I got my paws on a diet coke finally so I am good. I have Always wanted to see that show and I feel as if I just crossed something off the bucket list. Dh and I both said it was like listening to the soundtrack of our lives. Truly awesome and amazing...just over the moon..To all of our Brit friends, thank you so much for the lend/lease of one your Crown Jewels!!!
Oh Allie- that sounds just awful... I suspect Tom is just concerned about the fiancial strain along with your health. Men's natural instinct is protector provider and don't always react well when worried they might not be equal to it. Defensiveness is just a reaction. I am not excusing anything he said but probably didn't mean a word of it. You r right. Sleep on it. I love these newlywed advice ideas...' don't let the sungo down on your anger. Who are You kidding I wonder. Shut your mouth and go the heck to bed I say. Everything is different in the light of day. But I am a hot head so.....
Pip-love the article.
Kim- tomato tasting sounds cool.... 5 salads? I got tired just reading about it in the car... that's incredible. I have been wanting to ask you, what Is lizard saving?
Almost home now. Somebody had apparently decided that late night road construction in a main route in one of the biggest concert nights of the year was probably a good idea. Who needs more than one lane anyway? I don't care but dh has to work tomorrow....
Tomorrow....

Catching up with all your posts this morning
Good health for all those with problems and good eating for all of us. I weighed in today and lost one of those "pesky" last pounds will hopefully not put too many back while on holiday
Have to go pick up DSs cat from cattery today as he has been on holiday she gets very grumpy at being there (even though it is luxurious) and she will not speak to anyone for a while when she comes home

Lenora~ I have Poly Cystic Kidney Disease , mom had it and passed at 65 yrs old...but she had alot of other contributing factors, smoked all her life, didn't eat right and was an active alcoholic for many years, sober for almost 20 before she passed but damage was done..
I have gone to a nephrologist (kidney dr) for the last 20 yrs, but we have had different insurance.. this is totally different.. Tom doesn't bat an eye at what we have to pay for the dogs vet bills, but when it comes to me, it's another story
told him last night, you know what? i'll stop going to the Dr, stop taking meds, and hopefully die right in front of you.., gee then there would be nobody to do everything that I do..
Now I dont want to seem trite.. I know how some of you have fought bigger health battles than me.. but just can't seem to get it it through his thick skull how much worse it actually could be.. Bonehead..
we have our granddaughter overnight tonight and the only thing she doesnt want to do is go down to the nursing home.. it freaks her out, so Tom will have to go on his own tomorrow..
well off to work in an hour..0 -
Sending you good wishes, Allie.
http://www.simplysogood.com/2013/03/artisan-no-knead-bread.html
I've just posted the link to a no knead recipe that is similar to mine. It has helpful photos. The actual one I use and printed out seems to have gone defunct.
I always stretch my bread after I first turn it out. Flour hands and pull it and fold it back over itself. Cover with oiled clingfilm. After 15 mins I do the same with the other sides, then rest it, covered in oiled cling film for an hour. I put a Pyrex bowl over the clingfilm that just fits to stop it spreading.
I don't bake mine in a casserole, but on a large pre heated baking tray (I move it over on the greaseproof paper it's been rising on) and put the same bowl back on top, with the cling film removed. I remove the bowl for the last ten minutes. I use a bread knife to lever up the bowl so I can grip it.
This bread is absolutely gorgeous and is beloved by everyone, including children and babies. I usually make it for visitors, so I freeze it, defrost it and refresh it in the oven. The flavour and texture is superb. This one will be for my brother and sister in law on the 14th Oct.
I know Katla and Penny were talking about it, but they were using a sour dough starter. This uses ordinary fast action yeast that comes in sachets. I use a very scant half teaspoon, between a quarter and a half. Make sure the yeast isn't past its sell by date.
Just about to go down and put my loaf in the oven.

Good morning! Happy Saturday! Up early to run my DYS to where he needs to be, today, then I will be getting my grocery shopping and errands run. Hope to be back home by 10:00. The rest of my day is filled with mowing, raking, cleaning house, and maybe some paperwork. No fun, but it I get it done, maybe I can relax tomorrow?
Allie - hugs to you! I am amazed some times at what I tell my DH and what he actually hears (or how he interprets it). More proof how differently men's and women's brains work.
Heather- I bookmarked the bread recipe! Going to give it a try soon. I usually make a lot of our breads when the weather cools. This looks SO much easier than the basic white/wheat bread recipes that I use. It will take all I have in me NOT to knead the bread! I think kneading is ingrained into me. But this could shorten the time I spend making bread! Thanks for sharing! Your trip to Grenada sounds like it will be wonderful! I would love to visit a city with the influences of more than one culture. Some of the southern cities in the US are like that (except 100's of years younger); but it is fun to see the differences.
Katie- Hello! How have you been?! It seems like it has been a while since I have seen you post. Missed you!
Charleen- Hooray for you and the baggy clothes! I hope to have the same problem some day!
Well, there are more of you I wanted to reply to, but have run out of time. Love and hugs all around. If you are one of our friends who are "lurking" due to the busyness of life...sending special hugs and thoughts to you as you continue to move forward!1 -

Kim, I'm so happy to hear that your financial status has improved with your new work and that you're still doing fun things for yourself....I know that if you keep putting one foot in front of the other, you'll find a rhythm to your work and fun that leaves you exhilarated instead of exhausted.

Happy Saturday. Already got my treadmill workout in at the hotel, and a simple oatmeal with almond breakfast. Had a quick hug late last nite with DD and we will spend today walking about her college campus and the little upstate NY town that she happily calls home!
Feeling blessed, everyone have a great day, peace. NYKAREN6 -
Well there caught up with the reading.
Went out to coffee so that will prolong my fasting some. The knee is sore this morning. To much up and down at darts last night. But I'm not staying home because I have a bum knee. Need to push. Probably the knee telling me to lose weight. To heavy for the legs now. Going to have to get the scale going the right way again. It didn't this morning.
See you all lighter.

Tracey – DYS and DDnL#2 have a slightly different version of that quote painted on the headboard of their home. To prevent a ‘screaming match’ you have to be strong enough to walk away from it and let him steam and stew; then when he ‘thinks’ about it, maybe he will calm down some, then maybe y’all can talk to one another. Screaming never stops a fight, it only escalates and things get said that had hard to take back and even harder to ‘let sleeping dogs lie’.
DH and I, DMS and her ‘now ex’ went to a Billy Joel and Elton John show when we were down there for vacation … in the arena of the Miami Hurricanes. That was easily 30 years ago; and they really put on a great show; the traffic into and out of the parking lot was awful.
Most highway construction ‘is’ done at night because it is usually the less traffic time.
Allie – Sorry for your health issues. When I was “Lithium Toxic’ and in the ICU, the MD (Nephrologist) told DH that the only way to get it out of my system was to flush my kidneys and told him that I ‘might not’ survive the procedure. He told him, that if I was probably going to die he wanted me to go through it. So far I have not had any kidney damage; but, I would hate needing to do it again, or as some do, go to dialysis every couple of days. I’m just happy I survived it. I would have missed so much.
I must have slept wrong on my right arm, mostly the elbow; it is so sore today to use the arm.
Let my hair dry on its own last night after my shower. It's curly!
Now on to tackle my kitchen. Need to put in some shelf liner, so that means everything out of them; and then back in. I'm sure I don't have enough liner; but, will see how far this carries me. I'll get a lot of exercise climbing up and down.

Pip, thanks for sharing that article about Kirby's recovery from his bike crash....You and Kirby are my inspiration for my upcoming surgery and recovery process....being reminded about Kirby's recovery reminded me of your shoulder surgery and recovery and brings me great hope that before long I will be back doing the things I love to do and that all the required effort will be worth it to reach my goals.5

Michele: I'm the one of least experienced people at the stable but I was in a position to meet, greet, and look at feet. The best I could to was pass the baton to my teacher, who is the stable trainer and far more knowledgeable about horses than anyone else out there.
Heather: Your bread looks so tempting! Yum!!!
Regarding horse leases: I had an ah-ha moment regarding my own safety, at least financial safety. I went to the insurance office to find out if I have liability coverage to cover the situation if I lease a horse and something bad happens. I'm covered if a horse I'm riding dies, but not if it is hurt while I ride. I'm not sure how to handle this aspect of things. One more thing to ask my teacher.
Today we're working on booking tickets to Illinois for DD's upcoming birthing and DH is out of sorts with me. I have notes but am insecure and want to confirm one more time.
