I forgot to mention that my slightly worn, Facebook purchased shoes arrived this afternoon! They honestly look brand new! So excited to have them!!

Dang that floors clean! Wanna come over? My whole house is tile.

    @Elise4270 & @shanaber I call Shotgun - Dibs for 2nd.

@kristinegift 4 Rest days in October - You must be slacking off o:)

@_nikkiwolf_ Yes I read the Whole race report :D Congrats and Great Job. Inspiration for the rest of the 5/10k and us HM runners who keep thinking about a FM.

@RespectTheKitty Yes a HM is definitely do-able. Pick a destination event, drag along some other local runners and build out a training plan. I base my plan to be complete 2 weeks before the event to allow for " Life Events " and the dreaded Mini-Phantom Injuries. ie why the heck does my leg hurt the day after a Rest Day??? Then I foolishly book two more HM with two weeks between each one >:) .

@_nikkiwolf_ Congratulations on your first marathon! I read the whole write-up and you did a fantastic job pacing yourself and finishing faster than your goal time (and I cannot believe that pacer!). Definitely something to be proud of!

@RespectTheKitty Yes, a HM is definitely doable! I agree that I think you should sign up for one to give yourself a goal - heck, you're already more than halfway there with the training.

I really need to run early tomorrow so I'm not out with trick or treat going on. But I'm still sick and mornings are rough :-/ I'll see what happens. I could run immediately after work before sunset. I need 4 miles to hit my goal. Or I could just say I'm sick and come up 4 miles short.

@RespectTheKitty Way to go on 8+ miles! That's awesome.

Clearly I'm going to fail both goals this month. That's what over a week of travelling and half a week of illness does. Never mind, will get back on track for November.

Thinking of getting into aquathlons - anyone here do them??

@emmab0902 I feel your frustration on not making it to goal. But you had such a good meet in Australia that you can't be hard on yourself.
As part of our local small Tri-Athlon Group ( 8 people ) we try to do a Brick training session once a month - Swim and Bike, Swim and Run or Bike and Run the required distance for each activity. Just one of the many mini-training routines we try to throw into the mix. In the winter we tend to do a Reverse Brick as no one wants to go for a swim and then go for a run with wet hair and a damp body. So we go for a run and then swim = Aquathons or Bike and Swim. Even Biking is not much fun, Cold hands, shifters freeze and can break if you get to rough - even worse Brakes can freeze on stuck to the tire or open preventing any braking action. Lots of extra clothing.
All though we ( I ) have never competed in one. We also do a DuAthlon - Cross Country Ski or Snow shoe and then Run. If you live in a country with a 4 season climate you have to do what ever you can to make the Dark Days of winter pass.

Tomorrow being Halloween I won't be able to get a run in unless I go out after 9 pm so this is probably it for the month. My old fitbit must be failing or the battery is pouching as it showed a grand total of 9.45 km for the day.
I just completed 10 km Headlamp Run on a marked trail along the River bank ( that I know is right as dozens of people run it ) plus I had all ready logged 4 km for the day so it lost 4.55 km of activity somewhere.
All this recent Shoe talk and I might have just ran out of my Saucony Nomads - at about km 7 I started to feel the dreaded mystery twinge on the Right Leg above the ankle on the outside. Didn't seem to matter if I slowed down or speeded up, changed stride length it was just twitching away between landing and pushoff. Not writing them off yet will need to try them on a different surface to see if the problem follows the shoe, the surface or was I just out of sorts tonight.

Today's notes: 4 mile run for my first run of this cutback week. Solid z2 run with a decent pace. There was a 9mph SSE wind, so I ended up catching some headwind on various parts of the run, including the whole second mile, but it was a pretty good, relaxing run all the same. Looks like I ended October with my second highest mileage. Ready to start thinking about/tackling my mileage base increase coming in November!

    Distance: 4.01
    Time: 40:49
    pace: 10:11 YAY!

@_nikkiwolf_ - loved the race report! You did so great!!! I noticed on Strava how cool it was that you were running next to water for a lot of it. I was cracking up at the pacer stories. What a nut! But I guess it did keep you entertained.

4 miles this morning. I was a zombie and spaced out for a bit of it. I sometimes listen to books while running (as long as they aren't scary ones). IDK how some people do those zombie apps while running. I'd be scared to death. So I always start my run with a .3 walk at a fast pace to warm up. I had a book on and then all of a sudden I realized I was way past .3. That happens when I run with a book too, I lose track of time/distance. Hilarious book from Australian writer - What Alice Forgot.

Happy Halloween! Reece's for me tonight!

    10/1 - 5.1 miles
    10.2 - 7.3 miles

Thanks everyone for inspirational posts - has helped push me to a great month. Weather looked fab outside, so decided to head out for an easy lunch time 5K to round out the month taking me to 159km for the month against the original target of 120km.

I woke up this morning and saw we were under a dense fog advisory and decided that's a good enough excuse for me! But I left the teen a note that I'll be out running after work/ school. So 4 miles will get done before trick or treat starts. Also a strength workout bc I skipped one over the weekend.
