I've never done 3 mins max burpees before, but I've tested 7 mins max burpees before and got 103, and 1 minute max burpees and got 19. I'd like to do this challenge, but would prob prefer to do the 7 minute one again to try and beat my old score. Totally agree that lifting, running, etc should form parts of your all-round regime and that burpees are in no way the definitive marker, even though they're my fave!
The 1 minute max I do every few weeks out of interest. Perhaps I'll hold out on doing the 3 min challenge until the OP has posted his score ;)

I've done the 7 minute max burpees too, it was awful. I only got 72. I don't think I was breathing right for the next couple hours.

If I had to guess though, I usually want to punch someone around 10...even with 3 minutes I could probably only correctly do like 3 more than that.

Its a good fitness test! Will be posting my results end of the week hopefully!

End of the week? Why not today?

Got to go swimming with the little one soz!

It's 3 minutes of burpees... not sure how going swimming stops you from doing that?? Worried you can't do many?!

No im hoping to do above 40 with a goal of 60 ultimately, but today i must take my youngest his swimming lesson. Lots of comments but no scores as yet! Wonder why?

You think you can do a proper burpee in 3 seconds ?

    Insanity burpees or P90X3 burpees?

*hint* shaun t doesn't do a press up in his!

To be fair, Shaun T doesn't call his burpees.

    very true!
  • Well this time I didn't remember burpees until I'd showered and was getting dressed. I'm thinking I'll have to just change and do them at the gym at work, this afternoon.

Not sure that claim of 51 stacks up...

    ...he'd done 80 by 3 minutes
  • A little sloppy, but very impressive. That dude's a beast.

You know, as well as OP not coming back to give us his number, he never did specify whether it was to be performed with or without the push up.

Maybe the loofa baby scared him. She seems to be doing pretty good at the nap burpee. No pushup required on that one. I think it's good for beginners.

    53...never again!!! :confounded:
  • Not a real burpee without the push-up and jump.

    Agreed.

Getting like-for-like burpee counts was always going to be a challenge in itself, so I wouldn't die in a ditch over any of this. I did mine as per the demonstration in the vid I posted earlier, including the admittedly sloppy handclap!

*push ups and I are working on our admittedly rocky relationship

I can't believe the squiggly thing I do in lieu of a push-up doesn't count. I go all the way down (stop snickering) and get all the way back up, and there's always a jump. Not real? I'm hurt. (not really)

I'd take a jump over a push up IMHO.

You can do chest to floor without making it a traditional "push up"- i.e. you get down in front leaning rest- THEN do a push up- vs what the guy in the video above did- which was just hit the effing deck.

I think the jump UP is more important than the push up in terms of "what sucks worse" and makes this more whole body.

I'd prioritize the jump first- then the push up.

I did 3 x 12 deadlifts and OHP. IMHO_ that's more than enough cardio to get me through the month. So I'm still working on that whole napping challenge.

I guess once people who are actually very fit came and did the challenge, OP realised he wasn't quite at that level and got shy.

Don't worry OP, we won't mock you mercilessly, we promise!

And no, I still haven't done it either. I currently have a sharing my sleep space with a cat related groin injury (I wish I was joking and no it's not saucy!).

Those cats can take up a lot of space. I have a queen sized bed and only get about a foot of space on one side. I don't know how he manages to take over the rest. Heal quickly.

He's a huge beast of a cat (7.5kg and not fat) but really the problem, particularly now it's winter, is his need to be glued to me at all times and his refusal to move when I need to rearrange. So at some point I've moved awkwardly in my sleep and woken up with a slight pull in my leg. Pesky felines! He is nice and warm though.

Sounds like mine. I stopped letting the cats in my room at night. I couldn't move at all. Dog on one side, cat on the other, and another cat on top of me. It would take great effort to roll over, and when I did, there was furry critters flying everywhere.
