ReenieHJ, if a trip abroad was like an item which, after purchasing you realize you don't like it you can give it away, then I'd gladly give you the rest of my trip over here in Turkey. I wanna go home 😒.
Awww, that's too bad. I wish you were enjoying yourself more. Any local tours you could take?
Meh.. I'll try to stop complaining now. But I think Hawaii is more my cup of tea. Forget all this 'being cultured' stuff, history schmistory, etc.1 -

Maybe Europe just isn't your cup of tea?
If you like Hawaii have the ever thought of visiting Australia or New Zealand?1 -

I've toyed with the idea of Australia, but as far as I know Australia is one of the strictest places with covid lockdowns as of late so that might be out of the picture. I'll have to check in with their updates on opening back up. The Australian accent is one of my faves and aussie women are stunningly beautiful.
@ReenieHJ I hear ya, though, on lacking funding for some of this stuff. Wanna know how I do it? Honestly I'm not rich (well.. comparitavely.) My family grew up dirt poor, sometime in raggedy neighborhoods of America, sometimes ghettos. As an adult I have a job in which I travel for work so much that it doesn't make sense to pay a mortgage or rent, since I'd hardly ever see the place. The job itself pays well and not having a mortgage or rent, and being unmarried and zero children to provide for, allows me to keep almost every penny of the income. Really that's the only way I can afford travels and nice things. If I got married and started having kids, that all may change. So yeah.. I'm not rich I'm just currently in a really blessed spot right now 🙏🏻1 -

That's definitely a great way to travel! Yeh, all I wanted to do back when I was younger, was grow a family. I became much more interested in seeing more of the world When the empty nest syndrome appeared and caught me blindsided.
One of my dds travels for her work, which she loves. Mostly it's been in the U.S. so far but is in the process of planning business trips to Mexico and Germany.
Good luck with your travels and may your job bring you to much more enjoyable places next time!1 -

My cellular is up for renewal in a few days and I can't decide if I should stay with 4 gigs a month for $15 or go to 10 gigs for $20. You pay for the whole year up front. (I'm with Mint.)0

Got them for the encore showing.😍

The expression, "You can't control the outcome, but you can control the effort." I never really understood that. If there's not a pretty direct connection between effort and outcome, find some place else to put your effort, no?1

Dayuuuuuum (that's phoenetic ). I thought I'd only go to italy for the pasta but that's a good price. It took me forever to even get a cell plan and that was mostly so my boss could get in touch with me. I don't like talking to people but it *has* come in handy.0 -

If you come to Italy you can watch skinny people eat pasta and pizza (this still amazes me after 38 yrs here) AND get a cheap cell phone plan.2 -
Snow ...and why it's falling in April0

So many people dropping dead.

I would hope that outcome and effort are directly correlated. Otherwise what's the point in putting in effort.0 -
I wonder if that's the last snow we'll have for the year0

Thank you. Food for thought. Normally fly -so want to make the most of the sights along the way, but not be stressed about it either.
Plan hotels and where you'll stay and then go with the flow in between because there's always neat things to find to explore. We have a rule that if we see a sign for something that looks interesting we stop. We have found some cute local museums and a strange rock and mineral museum. We found a naval base in the desert which was cool too. Oh and last road trip we sought out all the giant things like a giant axe and lobster!2 -

Basically, yes.
Not really something to poke fun at though.
There’s not a single thing funny about it.3 -

Oh I'm not poking fun by any means. That sounds like something out of a sci-fi horror film. Where is this happening? I've not heard anything yet.1 -
Why does the salt and pepper at this restaurant seem to be almost devoid of flavor? I don't think I have covid because I can taste everything else. I need to attach a power drill to the end of this pepper grinder and rev it over my salad for a good 30 sec.0

Why didn't I get my skates sharpened today? Might make teaching someone that requires edges interesting tonight0

@litha
Some of my best memories of past travels have been the unplanned or even wrong turn events.
Many years ago, planned a trip out west to Mount Rushmore then eventually heading to Yellowstone. We left Mount Rushmore, took a wrong turn and end up on Iron Mountain Road Tunnel. One lane pass with tunnels with view of the monument. You had to honk your horn and listen to make sure there was not another car heading in the opposite direction. Had no clue this even existed. It was awesome! This ended up taking use through a corner of Custer State Park where there are wild donkeys roaming the roads. Another unplanned trip. This unplanned excitement happened on the same day.
A day or two later, we rented a camping cabin in Cody, WY, unplanned, and saw a gun fight and had a drink (maybe more than one) at IRMA Buffalo Bills Hotel. It had the original bar that Queen Victoria gifted. (famous for their rodeo, but that was not taking place on or day of visit).
All of the above mentioned are not small off the wall sites, but they were to us. We didn't search them out and weren't aware of the popularity of the sites at that time. Just a perfect unplanned happenstance.
Some of the planned stops were not that great. (Corn Palace, Wall Drug, Steam Engine Train Ride)
I have been fortunate to have done quite a bit of travel and have so many unplanned memories. Retiring in the next 3 to 5 years and much travel is planned at that time. Can not wait to take the road less traveled or take a wrong turn to discover the unknown. (Even if well known to others )1 -
road trip - should it be less planned and more go with the flow or should I plan it out more with exact destinations to reach on certain days.
I prefer go with the flow but I'm a fatty and I definitely like to lookup restaurants, bakeries, ice cream places ahead of time so I don't miss any of the good ones.1 -

You either get it or you don’t.
You are fortunate if you’ve not had previously healthy friends die.
I have.

Maybe it's absorbed some moisture.1 -

In Italy we'd say "Wow! you've discovered hot water"!6
