Holiday parties that are more fun that you think they'll be

A couple of glasses of wine works as a good insurance

A call from the teacher who heads the school chess team making sure the 16-year-old will be at a particular match because he is going to get him in a rated tournament so he will be a rated class b player. Idk what all that means but he seems happy

Class B is an above average player. Should play in in person tournaments to get a reliable rating.. The on line ratings can be suspect, lots of cheating. Wishing him best of luck.

I’m thinking my mom’s hair stylist is a genius.
Made a paste of dawn dish soap and baking soda.
I washed my hair with it, concentrating on the blue hair, scrubbing it well then heavy conditioning.
    The blue is gone!
I still messed up my color but at least it’s not blue cement color anymore.
My hair is so soft, I’m wondering why I spend so much on shampoo?

I briefly studied German in school & just found out the professor was using an unsanctioned possibly derogatory name for West Germany. (Yes, it was that long ago.)

    Random story……

My mom was a Fulbright Scholar, went to school in Germany in 1954.
She said she and her friends would take trips into the East.
    She was in Bonn.
I asked her what could possibly be so important that they’d risk going over there.
    She said, “sheet music”.
    They were Opera singers.

Well, I am really enjoying saying "lkigai". Seems like a practical mindset and path as long as you can push aside the inevitable fact that we will all be dust in the blink of an eye, so what does "meaning" even mean? Otherwsie, yea, I like this.

Hello! I love when you participate 😊

I agree. I no longer search for meaning just as I no longer engage in the inner debate about predestination or dust mote gods

but I do wonder can a person make a decent living while still serving humanity and doing something they find satisfying. Most of the people I know in real life do not love what they have to do for money. So that’s the angle I am exploring this from.

That is a great angle. I have spent considerable time on this corner. Hope you share more thoughts on this.

He is one of my favorites. It does sound very Spurgeon.
